I used to buy both scrolling magazines but now I look at them before I purchase them as I have found a lot of times there is nothing in it that appeals to me and it is just a waste of money. I have back issues going back to the late 90s so I have lots of ideas I can still do with some of them, and now with digital download from some of the scrollsaw dealers, I can get my patterns right away that I really want. Hi I saw the B & D rotary tool on sale at Menards the other day for like 19 dollars. It had 3 speeds, does this work in the dremel plunge router? Thanks Bill -
Hi I am thinking of getting a different dremel for my plunge router, which one is best now. What speed should I be running for drilling holes. Do the new ones have the no wrench tightening or what. I have an older 395 variable speed now. Thanks Bill

HI all My FD Puzzle blades say I need to use a #71 wire bit. I did that, in my dremel plunge router and the blade will not go through the hole. Somebody is wrong. Why do they say to use a number 71 when it won't work? that is what it says on the FD chart for that blade I dropped to a 68 and it went thru fine. Interesting fact I thought I would point out. Bill

Yes Clayton that is what I was referring to, I use my variable speed dremel in the plunge router attachment with wire bits. You can set the depth how far you want to go in and then just move it around where you want to drill holes. Here is what it looks like: You can get it at most places that sell dremel and attachments,

HI all Following the advice here, I dug out my dremel plunge router that I haven't used in a long time. I have been having issues with wandering wire bits in my pin vise in my big drill press lately. So today I put my vs dremel into the router and boy that is slick. I went to wally mart and bought a cheap goosneck desk lamp and put a 38w led bulb in it for better lighting, and I can move the light around. Thanks for the advice, I'm sticking with this way from now on. Bill

Drilling entry holes, any alternative to the Seyco Drill?

I have a plunge router, so this really works. I find my little chuck in my drill press tends to wobble on me. the only thing I noticed with the plunge router is trying to see where drill the holes sometimes, any secrets for that problem? Thanks Bill -

Well being it is so cold here in Western Wisconsin, I spent the afternoon in my shop and sorted all my scroll saw patterns. Any I may have downloaded on my hard drive are now on a flash drive. I also put patterns I have bought from various places and downloaded or purchased into folders for each of those places so i know where originals are when needed. I went to file folders and sorted my xmas stuff by type of pattern and other times of year and sorted other subjects and tossed what I will never do. It's amazing. Now I can find my originals easily when I need to make copies etc. A little downtime after the holidays to get things back in order for doing some more scrolling. Now let's see where did I put that pattern for those snowflakes I was going to try making??????????????????????? Happy New Year Bill

HI all I took a small reading clamp light and clamped it to my scrollsaw stand so the light faces up. When I want to check if my holes are drilled ok when I am sawing I just hold it over the light and I can see if all the holes are drilled ok for putting the blade through. Just an idea I came up with one day as I was trying to see why my blade would not go thru a hole Bill

I have one of those storage cupboards with the small drawers,I keep them in there, when I get a new size I mark the number of the blade and drill bit needed on a popsicle stick and then when I use my blades I have a small pill bottle ductaped down to my hegner stand and I put some blades along with the popsicle stick marker in there so I can keep track of what size they are. Bill

Hi all Well, I dug out a pattern I have had for a long time and with 1/8 inch bb ply and my FD puzzle blades I spent 4 hours cutting out this Voelker Arnold Nativity pattern for my wife. Went well, I'm tired. Bill

Hi all, I started to make some more of those nativity crosses like I posted here that I did. I went to menards and got some ash boards because I thought they might be easier than my 1/4 inch bb ply, but they aren't wide enough. I looked around the shop and found some 1/2 inch oak and so I started doing one. Well, I can't seem to get my blade to co-operate enough to cut some of the straight lines and now I have a headache also. HMMMMM, must be that last minute Christmas stuff I need to get done. I decided a bowl of chicken noodle soup for lunch was a better idea right now. I think I like working with my 1/8 inch bb plywood a lot better than anything else. Bill in Wisconsin

Hi My wife wanted me to make these for some family members, so I just took the cross part off the pattern for the Nativity Cross and made this with 1.4 in. BB plywood. I bought some aspen today at 1/2 inch to make some more. Bill I forgot to mention that this is not sanded yet!!!

Voelker Arnold has a bunch of these patterns that he has created. Sue Meys has Schwibbogens on her website too. I have a couple patterns also, but have never tackled any yet. Might be a good after xmas project. Looks nice. Bill
