  1. Good one! I want mine with cheese. ☺☺
  2. I do that with a 1/4" round-over bit. I also sand to 320-grit. This is just for the outer edges not the letters or inside shapes. The inside shapes I take to the sanding mop to take the edge off a bit.
  3. Very nice!
  4. Outstanding creation Helmut. Did you turn the snowmen yourself? It was very professionally done.
  5. Bob, my only concern would be fragile pieces of fretwork getting hung up on the insert if it is above the table height. If it works for you though keep doing it.
  6. I also like both blades. Just like everyone else, Mike's Workshop link is fine and the price is $33.60 for a gross. If you haven't tried one brand or the other, just do it and see for yourself which you prefer. Either way you are getting quality blades.
  7. I agree with everyone. Doctor, diet, and exercise. If you have a social group you belong to (a church or retirement center) see if they have a support group that can help. Join a walking club. Being around other people can help tremendously. Hang in there pal, you'll figure it out.
  8. Nice project Tony! I'm a proponent of top feeding but know everyone has their preference. It's like the Men's Prayer from the Red Green Show.. "I'm a man, but I can change, if I have to, I guess."
  9. To be honest Cliff, if you wouldn't have mentioned it I would have never noticed. It's up to you but I'd leave it out. Nice portrait, BTW.
  10. Now that, my friend, is practice in patience. Fantastic!!
  11. If there is a wood shop nearby take your walnut and see if they will resaw it and run it through the planer. It may cost a couple of bucks but it beats buying more wood.
  12. My new blades I store in plastic tubes which are labeled. If I use a blade and it is still sharp enough for more cutting, I have a small board with magnets that I stick the used blade to. I have the board marked so I know which blade it is. If I that size blade later I know I have a used blade that is still sharp.
  13. Charles, welcome to The Village. You have a very good saw, one that should last a good, long time. There is a lot of info here and on several other sites that will help. By best piece of advice is to keep coming here, ask questions, and share your thoughts and photos of your work.
  14. Excellent Dave! Keep up the great work.
  15. Beautiful work!
  16. Thanks for all your work Travis. If my winning ticket comes in I'll buy you a server. As for Facebook, not for me.
  17. Both yellowheart and wenge can be very hard. At 3/4" doing an inlay could be tough. I'm not sure what blade to use but some of our inlay experts can help you with this. Hang in there.
  18. I believe if you divide the width of the board by the width of the pattern you will get your answer. If the board is 18" and the pattern is 24", then 18"/24" = 0.75. So you would reduce the pattern from 100% to 75%.
  19. You did great. Your brother will love it. Gary Browning has a book of Civil War patterns worth checking out.
  20. A fridge full of beer works for me.
  21. Great idea, pattern, and cutting!
  22. Fantastic work Clayton! The frame is a perfect finish for it. Good luck at the fair.
  23. I know some bowl turners that will use a rotary tool to cut designs in their bowls. Someone (Dirk Bowman maybe??) did an article in a scrolling magazine years ago and they cut words onto a band around an ornament. To do this, they cut the band in quarters and cut each section, then glued them back together. I guess you could do this with a bowl, but it seems like more work than a rotary tool.
  24. Sad news indeed. Mike will be missed.
  25. Looks fantastic.
