  1. I love it! I spent 6 years in Colorado and never panned for gold. I need to go back there.
  2. Jim, did you retire from the military? You guys sure put in a lot of time. Thanks.
  3. Thanks to all you Vets! I, my brothers, my sister, and my dad all served.
  4. Wonderful work! The box is super nice and the scroll work adds the finishing touch.
  5. Thanks everyone. These are about 1/16" thick. Very easy to stack cut. The hardest part is the sanding, some on the belt sander the rest by hand.
  6. Pictures? I remember scrolling in the garage in freezing temperatures and it's no fun.
  7. Thanks Dan. I'm not very familiar with many saws. If I ever have to upgrade one thing I like is top feeding as my eyes aren't what they use to be.
  8. I'm just curious, are there saws that only allow you to feed from the top or bottom but not both? I know my old Craftsman had thumb screws and even though it was easier to feed from the bottom I could have fed from the top but that would have been a PITA. Any comments?
  9. Awesome cross. I love the details.
  10. I'd make a collection of three or four with different words. Hang them on the wall as decoration, When needed use them as trivets. Why not both??
  11. Thick wood will burn at high speeds if your bit is dull. I would drill down just a bit then raise the bit and repeat until the hole is through. If you have to drill a lot of holes you may want to stop every so often, grab some coffee (or whatever you prefer), let the bit cool off, then drill some more.
  12. Scott, if it's a pdf you can open it in Inkscape and edit it. If you don't have Inkscape you can print the pattern, put some masking tape over the 5 in 2015 and either print a 6 to match and stick it on the pattern or just try drawing it on the masking tape. This is the way I would do it if I would be cutting it out once, but if cutting several out I would change it in Inkscape.
  13. Steve, they are about 1/16" thick.
  14. Any luck Jerry?
  15. I haven't done much scrolling for a while, life gets in the way sometimes. Here are some bookmarks to get me going again. Maple and ambrosia maple.
  16. Although I normally don't use packing tape, if I'm cutting thick material or a thick stack (3/4" or more) I will use packing tape.
  17. Excellent!
  18. I had thought of that too. Because it will be 18" in diameter I would have to piece it together and I'm afraid the seams will show..
  19. Thanks Ike. I thing I have one buried somewhere. I may practice with it to see if it will work. I do have a plunge router for the dremel. Brad, that is too simple. I think I'll give it a try. Since she wants it painted I plan to use poplar so it should dent pretty easily. What a simple idea. Len, I'm not much of a painter but I did find an image that I could use and give the paint a try.
  20. Well, it works great on these pages. If you download it just remember to refresh your page before you scroll over it. It doesn't work on images, just text.
  21. I just installed a Google Chrome Extension called WhatFont. It will allow you to mouse-over a font and tell you what it is. I'm trying some different fonts here to see if it works. One last one.
  22. A friend that I met at a craft show many years ago is wanting a plaque to display on her front door. It is a golf bag with some custom lettering. That part is done. What I want is to make the backing look like a golf ball. I want to make some dimples and am looking for an easy way to do it. Do I carve them with carving tools or buy a special bit for my dremel? Is there an easier way? Or should I just cut some shadowing to give the illusion of a golf ball? Any suggestions are appreciated. Even from Jerry! lol Oh, the backing will be about 18" in diameter. Thanks.
  23. I just printed page 3 (the continental US map) and it printed on four pages when I selected Tile large pages. It should work.
  24. The splash of color is fantastic! You do great work.
  25. If you downloaded to your computer and open with Adobe Acrobat the print dialog box will look something like this: Make sure the Page Scaling is set to Tile large pages.
