  1. Sorry I didn't respond sooner but haven't been able to get on lately. Steve Good came through and did me a pattern.
  2. I have a request for a scrollable Bible verse and as I am not capable of such a creation, I am asking for help. Anyone who is interested, I will share what is wanted. Thank you.
  3. I no longer do any production style cutting but would not recommend the Pegas. The one I have would not work for that kind of cutting. I have an old Type I DeWalt that works great but I've heard they have problems with the newer ones. Most of my production work was done on a Delta Q3 that I bought new about 94 and it performed well. I finally sold it a couple of years ago and think it is still going.
  4. Thank you for what you do. My donations this year is two loads each to our Senior Center Thrift Store and another place called New to You that furnishes items to people in need. I also gave some blankets to a group that collects blankets every year for those that need them.
  5. I have the Pegas saw and I was having the same problem. I took the knob out and held the end with pliers to see that it was turning. One of them seemed to be sticking so I just kept working it and they seem to be working b etter. I think sometimes a problem is caused when we try to tighten the clamp to much.
  6. My Uncle was there for the raising of the flag. Nice cutting. I see we are almost neighbors.
  7. I have my local lumber yard order the Baltic Birch for me. They don't normally carry it but will special order it for me. The last batch I got was 1/8" and it was $21.00 a sheet.
  8. One problem you will have with a saw like that is not being able to use really fine blades as they won't stand up under the stress. I started with a saw like that back in the 60's and you can do a lot with it but there is no comparison with the newer type saws.
  9. I know your feeling very well. I finally finished a piece that I swore that I would finish before I died but decided that wasn't the end. Scrolling has what has kept me going.
  10. I enjoyed hearing about your location. I spent 4 yrs in your area from 59 to 63 while I was in the Navy at the base that has since closed. Lived in Avondale for a while when I got married. Was back through there in 88 and a great deal of change.
  11. These are some plaques I just finished to present to the nurses at my local medical clinic. These are a modified Steve Good pattern done in 18" BB and a painted backing.
  12. If this stay at home thing keeps going, I may get a lot done if I don't run out of wood.
  13. I haven't posted anything for quite a while. After breaking my leg last year right after moving, I couldn't find anything so finally bought a camera that I could use to post pictures. It has to be almost fool-proof for me to operate it. The Puerto Rico piece is thanks to Sam Custudio for the design, the rest I think are all from Steve Good. Thanks to people like those that we can keep on cutting while we aren't good at designing.
  14. I have used the blue tape for a long time but recently tried the shelf liner. Found some at Dollar Tree. The roll was a $ but of course not as large but works fine. Don't think the glue is as strong but sometimes tape it down. I also found some clear shelf liner on Amazon that works almost too good as really sticks down.
  15. Haven't been here for a while but is good to see names that I recognize from the past. I'm sure that we all have a pattern file that is going to take a long time to complete, especially since it seems to keep growing. I once thought that my time was up but have decided that I have no control so will keep plugging along until someone who can make that decision decides. Instead of thinking that, I have now taken a new job and will be working the census so can support my habits (auctions and scrolling). Having my saw set up in the kitchen makes it easy to work on things. I can't work for long periods so it is very convenient to cut for a while and then take a break.
  16. I recently bought some adhesive shelf paper at the Dollar Tree. It is not a large roll but for a $1 has gone quite a ways and seems to work just fine. I especially like it for larger pieces as doesn't take so much blue tape.
  17. I have had people ask me to sign my work so now I use a woodburner and just add my initials and year.
  18. I was in a Dollar Tree the other day and found some shelf paper that was adhesive. I am working on a 12x12 pattern so thought I would give it a try. Seems to be working fine on a stack of 1/8" BB. I didn't cut it large enough to wrap around the edges to had to tape them together.
  19. I am a firm believer in the blue painter's tape. I keep it in several widths and use whichever one works best for the project. I have an old fridge that has all the motor works out of it so isn't very heavy and that's where I store my paint, stains and glue and haven't had a problem with it freezing.
  20. I've had better luck with the Pegas . I really like the ultra reverse #1. I was doing some walnut and had to go to the #3 but cut some 3/4" pine this am with the #1 and it worked fine, also some cherry that I planed down to about 5/8".
  21. I liked all the response and tried dipping my project but am not really pleased with it so am back to spray lacquer.
  22. Back when I was laid up with a broken leg, I found this place and also another called Wish which I think has better products. My kids threatened to shut off my computer as I kept the mail carrier busy delivering packages. Another item I got that I like is a pair of reading glasses that have little led lights on each side to highlight your work when you are doing closeup work.
  23. Good to see someone that I remember from a long time ago.
  24. Thanks guys, just what I like, nothing definitive. I do the dipping thing when I use mineral oil so guess that would work here also.
