  2. My guess is that the wood being so hard ,extra pressure is needed to cut it and that will throw off the bottom of the cut in the wood from the blade bending.I'm only guessing.
  3. Here's one i did for annie a few years ago.3/4" plywood, painted with acrylics ,done on a 16" delta ss250.This is one of over 800 names i've made in three years.I used to be busy as a beaver trying to make a name for myself in scroll work and aquire customers but it never really got off the ground. It's better to try and fail than not try at all.
  4. I never knew wood could be so hard .I wonder what the" flying dutchman" has to say about this one.

Now here's a tip your going to love, not wood oriented but works for me .It took me 56 years to figure this one out.when the toast won't pop out so you can pick it up hold the handle down a little from the bottom and snatch it up and the toast will fly right out of the toaster so you can catch it in mid air.so simple why it took me so long to figure it out is puzzleing.the answer was at my finger tips all this time.lol!

  15. This was some fancy cutting skills Brett that you displayed here.!Real nice job to both of you one this award!
  16. Thanks Claytonand DW,your exactly right about speed and heat, the fine toothed blade heated up quick being thin soon softer metals it would be better i think!Brett that soda can should be a breese to cut,use a sissors to git it down to size and place between two pieces of wood to keep it flat and not damage it ,then cut the pattern you put on top of the wood .tape the wood together too.andy you hit the nail on the head there, now all that's history till the next time where i'll be useing a differant metal and have tolearn all over again the idiosyncrasies of that metal and blades!thanks everybody for looking and commenting !
  17. Thank you Clayton and Andy ,i really hated to see them go but i'd rather have the dw788 .That's what they call twisting my arm.I would,nt sell the sitting bull dog for less than $250 i i had a choice and the dog in the shoe for $150.00 but i could'nt refuse the trade!Hated to see them go.
  18. Nice job Jim .looks like the real wide glide harley! Not my kind of bike but your wood one would be nice on my shelve!
  19. Thanks Chris all work and no play make's kevin a dull boy ! but it was fun too!
  20. This one was a nightmare keeping track of all the piece's as i went thru the step's of intarsia.I have no idea(BUT IT'S A LOT) how many times i had to put this puzzle together. Each time i had to study it again and again as it's a brand new look and never looks like the last time i assembled it.I had to put a curtain behind the drum sander on the drill press to catch the guided missle piece's that got away from me.Saves a step looking for them later.I used many differant stains and white glue to finish it off.I'll bet it weighs 60 pounds being 2" thick veneir covered particule board.( a poor mans intarsia) lol!I'm just useing what i have!.This is one of the three intarsia's i traded for my dw788,The other one was the "dog in the shoe" "the eagle"plus some fret work like grampa's angry pit bull, jesus praying at the rock. The dw788 owner would rather scroll saw on a ryobe 16" then the dw788.Everybody's has their taste's .I'm so glad he was overwhelmed to trade me,and no cash involved!this is one beautyfull piece of art work .Intarsia 's sure give a gift that keeps on lasting as they are beautyfull. Not to bad a trade for imitation intarsia's!And these are my practice piece's!30" x 28"
  21. Thank you so much fellow scrollers.glad to have you take a look at my endevores, lol !Dw,Mike,Chris,Clayton717 and Brett,For cedar this cut very hard.the wood smells like cedar and is very light like cedar, must be cedar?huum?

  23. Thanks Trevor ,there sure was a lot of saw dust from the drill press drum sander i used in the house! My dust collector a.c. vent with paper filters did a great job collecting it as i work right next to it and and a fan blows it that way!
  24. This intarsia project is 2" thick venier covered particule board.I guess it was a door someone thru out and i had other plans for it.My neighbor has a shar pei and he is a puppy but is huge!He plays rough too and wants to play all the time .Fighting is what they love to do. He niped my nose and ear and drew blood so i had to show him who's boss and grabed his lower jaw so he is help less then .This intarsia is one of the heavyest ones i've done .I hung it for him and won't he be surprised when he takes it off the wall some day.His dog is all one color just like the intarsia.this was more work than i wanted to do but it's fun and the finished project made it allworth while.I gave him the eiffels tower ,grampas pit bull and the shar pei to pasifie him for any scroll saw noise i might make .I never heard a word from him and were 6" apart by a wall! The wood was stained and painted but all pieces are separate. All cut were made with the flying dutchmans FD-HD blade,"the blade that could"This is a kathy wise pattern kathywise.com/intarsia
  25. Here's a compound cutting that i did in hard cedar.6" by 3/4" x 3/4" Penguin silver reverse FD-PSR#9 11.5y.p.i. 8 teeth reverse blades were used while i assisted.the letters came from stevegoods scrollsawprinter program.
