  1. Very good looking clock of choice.first one i've seen with a water wheel.I like it.Gives you something to look at besides the time lol.So many things to do and the clock never stops.Hope someday i get to make a fancy clock like that.I'm curious as to what a person can charge for a custom made clock like that.I'd allways like to make more than what i'm allready makeing.
  2. Very nice but i would like to see the picture s of the people before you made a pattern. That way i can admire your technic of patterning
  3. I went back and started digging and found one .It's done by ALATA 69 one of our members.back in feburary.I think there's a taller one but can't find it.Good luck! i TRYED HARD TO POST to post his picture but could not.
  4. If she does the Eiffils tower i'm going to be in love! That is one piece of work i'd love to try.One of our members did one and modified it some .I think it was about 5' tall.I'll try to find it for you but don't know if i can.
  5. try useing scroll reverse blades .They cut going up and going down leaveing a clean cut top and bottom.I was doing a lot of sanding on the bottom of my work and figured there had to be a better way.Now i don't sand at all useing the scroll reverse blades.Have at least three teeth in contact with the wood at all times when cutting.1/4 inch wood you would need 16 teeth per inch as a guide line.Penguin scroll reverse does a great job on 1/4 " wood.I need to keep noise to a minamal here in an apartment with occupants above and below and next to me on both sides and the skip tooth blades really quite things down for me.Each blade has it's own caracteristics, which trial and error and our experiance can save you time and effort. That was a great question and makes me think about it more now. When you order blades they send you a pamplet of what the blades do ,how many teeth and so on.Maybe the plate is wore out to much and does'nt offer stabillity to the thin wood being cut.By plate i mean on your cutting table where the blade goes through to the bottom blade holder. To big of a hole and the wood flexs way to much on small pieces and will want to tear out. Each circumstance is differant and more experiance solves all.If proper tension is to loose the blade wants to grab more wood than it's supposed to.Makeing a tear out situation also. There's probabley more reasons your haveing your problem but thats all i can share with you.
  6. Very elegant looking clock,i love it.This is a great pass time for her, scrolling.Looks like she's better than the teacher, lol.
  7. That's funny(hideing)! I spent months doing a little here a little there on travis's cadillac. It was a project i really wanted to do for along time.My saw was wore out and had to go super slow from the wobble side to side.It was a lengthy project and i did'nt want to start over from an accident. There werde a couple places i was,nt sure about if i should cut ,but thought it out and did ok.
  8. Wow another great idea! I never thought of covering the wood with tape and then spray with glue.BRILLIANT IDEA!I learn so much here at ssv .Could'nt miss a day here.thank you again TRAVIS! I also slanted my saw table like yours and i love that idea too!Save up these tips for the book your going to publish on scroll saw tips and tricks!
  9. Companys coming put somemore water in the soup, lol! Welcome marcos. How are you? Say ,listen i,m nosey and love to know whats your favorite pattern your proud of that you cut.Grampa here at ssv, scrollsawvillage does great patterns and i'm very proud of the daugshunts and a 2010 camaro pattern he offerd us here.In the pattern library you'll find over 1000 patterns in all varieties.Enjoy!
  10. Welcome back ,you were missed, wow your back!
  11. That's good news greasemonkeyred neck. The bad news is i lied about where i bought the foot switch.I was in BIG LOTS looking for the head band flash light for 5 buchs and right next to it was the $3.00 foot switch i was talking about on sale from $5.50 to $3.00.Guess i was confused where i bought it .At half a hundred years old i guess it can be expected. :)i'm so glad i read your suggestion about the foot switch.THANKS!
  12. i had that problem a few times and learned that the thinest pencil line helps keep you going straight as you'll see right away that you're starting to go off course and going very slow worked out the best for me.The grain of the wood tends to make the blade wander so make sure the blade tention is tight too.Great question ,somebody needs to come out with a book of all the tips and tricks we need to know and refresh ourselves now an then.
  13. Wished i'd have started alot younger .The big box stores have saws for about a hundred just to get going again.I started with a 14" ,16"18"and now have a 20" thats being set up .I think 22" will be as big as i'll go .Welcome to ssv. Can't wait to see your past work if you have photos availiable.I'll bet you know a lot of tricks with all that experiance under your belt.Have you wore out any saws?In two years i ruined 7 saws.Wish timex made a saw so it could take my lickings, lol.sorry about the bad experiences. There's a thousand patterns here at ssv.Hope you'll ad somemore soon.Craigs list down here is loaded with saws all the time at low prices .Good place to look for one.In my city on craigs is a osscillating spindle sander,a hitachi scroll saw,a stand up dust collector,a grinder sharpener and a router for $350.00.Wish i could get it .See you soon.
  14. thick words stand out nice,i have'nt run across that pattern yet but will keep yours.great cuttings.
  15. It's a goody.just glued mine today will cut soon.hope it,ll look like yours snarl an all!Nice clean cutting job.
  16. I've thought about the heat situation and maybe forced air on the blade would help greatly to prolong the wear of the blade and help it from bending to much with the extra heat and no place to go .Also it's a plus to rid the dust more efficiently.Just a thought.I would really like that blade as my puzzles are a little to sloppy fitting for my likeing.60-70 teeth may be over kill but i'll try it.Thanks for the info .I never knew those blades existed.
  17. from what i gather is they are for metal, wish i had some!
  18. they are really nice!
  19. I'm getting there! Thanks for the pattern! Good job
  20. I love to cut portraits i like and i like these but the photo quality will prevent me from doing so ,sorry for the bad news.
  21. From what i can and can't see their nice but how come the photos are not clear?
  22. Sharp as a tack,i allmost drooled at the first pattern i seen.Vivid imaginations over there.Don't have time to look but will book mark. What a find.Real treasure. thank you grampa!Your the best of the best!
  23. What a maze of cuts! What kind of blade did you use and how big is the project, very nice clean cuttings, good job.
  24. Kenney84 From what i can see on the picture is your saw takes pined end blades. Most scrollers that do fret work use plain end blades.Reason being is we do allot of inside cuts and need very small drill holes for the small blades we use.Maybe there's a problem ,only speculating ,with the holders themselves, hence wore out .I my self would look for a saw that takes plain blades. Most saws take both but from what i see yours does not.
  25. Have your tension set before turning on the machine, other wise the slack in the blade tension will hammar it loose.www.scrollsawworkshop has a video on correct blade tension plus lot's of other very valueable info.My blades when plucked sound much like the skinny g-b-e- guitar strings or gentle bending of the blade sideways should flex no more than a 1/8 inch i heard.I'll look at your schematic next chance i get on line at scroll saw part .comHope this helps a little more from my experience.
