  1. Hi Tim and welcome, like as been said there is and awesome family of scrollers here at the village, that will help you enjoy our art to the fullest. So if you get stuck or need a specific pattern don't be afraid to ask. By the way I am Jerry from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the land where the wind really does come sweeping down the plains.
  2. Awesome work love it
  3. Festival Network Online also a good sight
  4. I have a request for a wood sign for a restaurant, any idea what size wood to use and how to make it weatherproof against Oklahoma's extreme weather conditions. Will simply painting it keep it from warping. They haven't done any measuring as yet but top of the head size is 2' x 5'. Oh by the way it will be hung under the overhang of a building built early nineteen or late eighteen hundreds if that makes any difference.
  5. oooooh sweet chuckle had to throw this one in...
  6. I am no pattern designer, however as I did with Kevin Durant posted yesterday I dabble from time to time. One thing that has helped me is that when I get stumped I can go to the village university and take a refresher course. One day hope to be able to afford one of those pen sets like Sue Mey has told me about, which has got to be easier than drawing with a mouse.
  7. Awesome
  8. Oh I thought of something else while I putting my shoes on this morning. We did a show up in Tulsa Oklahoma last year by a well known, well established, Christian denomination on the surface it appeared to be a great show awesome crafts, several vendors of various products, yet it lacked one key ingredient customers. Why? Simply because there idea of advertisement was sending kids out on the side of the road with poster board signs yelling craft show at the cars that drove by. So plan well, advertise, advertise, advertise get the word of your event out there, or I am afraid your event will become little more than a tea party of friends who nine times out of ten have seen you work a thousand times over and passed it by. 9. Well from the pictures I would say the quality of your work is not in question, and couldn't help but notice you use all thicker size woods which speaks of your skill level. As I and other artist have been discussing our art form is not necessarily flying off the shelves, because the economy across the world is in the toilet. Seriously at the moment if a product does not satisfy a basic need of life people are able to curb that impulse to purchase. So I am not certain you situation is particular to your region of the world, so don't allow yourself to get down or discouraged about the lack of sales. Now about your question, again I don't know anything about your country, however I would perhaps seek out other crafters in your area they don't necessarily have to be scroll saw artist, and work and angle from there, My idea is that the more people you are able to get involved the greater your attendance would be. Just throwing it out there good luck, keep making saw dust. Jerry Oklahoma Scroller
  10. Thanks everyone for the compliments.
  11. This is my latest finished project, of a pattern designed by Grandpa. I think the detail he drew into the elephants trunk makes the piece. Thanks Grandpa for another amazing pattern. I enjoyed working on this one Jerry
  12. Welcome Dan, I think scrolling is like the art we create which is a work in progress, meaning that every project is different than the one before it with its own challenges. This is perhaps one of the things that keeps us coming back for more.
  13. Been wondering about you Kevin, glad to see your ok, and still scrolling your way down the path of life. These look awesome by the way.
  14. Not familiar with the saw I have always used a Porter Cable, "the racket" could be due to the tension or you have it set to, to high a speed as stated, there could also be a problem with the saw it self. Porter Cable runs a little over two hundred at Lowes by the way.
  15. A friend of mine needed Porter Cable parts and had to order through the manufacturer, that said I have used a Porter Cable for years and have had no problems with it at all. You get it up and running I think you will enjoy it as much as I do.
  16. Guess I am a newbie with about three years..
  17. Awe some cutting it looks fantastic
  18. Glad you had a good event, I am heading out for my first show of the season on the 20th of this month, hoping for a better season than last year, well it almost has to be because health and vehicle problems kind of got in the way of progress. Yeah there is a lot that are no shows for weather related situations, which I don't understand, unless there is a tornado or like what happened to us last year I am going to be there. Besides most shows I have encountered will not refund booth space money so not showing is a lose, lose situation.
  19. Awesome job cutting this, this would be one of those patterns that would call out my name, but I would duct tape its mouth shut then move on to something less challenging chuckle
  20. Mrs. N Good evening my name is Jerry Britner (Breighner Woodworking, your picture of the little girl with the cape and the crown was posted on my face book, as was the suggestion that it would be perfect for a little girls room which I agree thinking of my youngest granddaughter. So grampa drew this pattern for you is there a place here in the village I can obtain the pattern?
  21. Very nice Kevin..
  22. I don't know about the middle of the night thing, but I like the work where did you get the pattern?
  23. I started with "flat blades" then a customer asked for a picture of their dogs, at which time I switched to the spirals and because I mainly do pictures I continue using spirals most of the time...however that being said I have found that even with pictures there are times that spirals do not work very well like the Indian skull I have on the saw now, so like yourself I have had to retrain myself on the use of "flat blades" and at times it "aint been pretty."
  24. Not sure where in Oklahoma you hang your hat Cody, I pretty much get all around the state at one time or another during the course of a year, a coffee meet does sound good anyone got any suggestion on the where or when, perhaps even a donut can be added for the fun of it.
  25. Hey. welcome from Oklahoma City, perhaps us Okies can get together for coffee somewhere...
