Mine came direct from Grobet instead of Bear Wood.. Guessing that is why they came so fast..
-
The replacement blades showed up in my mail box today.. Yay.. now it's been almost a year since I've had "Good" #5 blades... might have to run to the shop and give the good ones a try again... Been using those bad blades so long that the good ones will probably mess me up, LOL

I made a post several years back on all the bearing sizes etc one needs to replace all the bearings... That said though... I didn't give the bearing sizes for the actual motor... I never had a need to replace those..

Always loved going to the Engine shows... Those old hit and miss motors purring... The local show here always has a person running a ice cream maker off a hit and miss motor... best ice cream ever.. LOL

Not a new topic, just a great picture

He's got quite a nice web page showing other works he's made http://www.kencowellstudio.com/Gallery/Gallery.php?cat=Furniture -
In my area... collecting wood could be a full time job going around getting all the free lumber.. then you'd not have time to make something with it, LOL
-
Ouch, looks painful.. Keep a close eye on that.. as the others said specifically burns are bad for getting infection.. Praying for a quick full recovery.. After seeing that.. I think if I ever use CA glue I'll get a hazmat suit, LOL

Me Too but you got me by a few years.. I've only been married 26 years well

I'm thinking about buying a cheapy press from HF or somewhere so I can still have one to use when I take mine apart..
-
Yeah, mine is 24 x 32 and I'm sure happy I spent a little more for that style roof because the loft is 14 x 32.. plus I put flooring behind the trusses where the wall would be and I store my totes with finished scroll work in them.. plenty of overhead storage for lumber etc.. actually the loft is a workout room and mancave so to speak with fridge, microwave TV etc.. weights and stationary bike etc etc etc..

I've been looking at those portable saws for a few years now.. I don't do any work that really requires a high end saw.. in fact. the only thing I use my table saw for is splitting up my plywood to the size I need.. I just have a very cheap Tradesman table saw that I bought before I even got into woodworking.. I needed a power saw for a home remodel job I was doing.. the table saw was on sale for $59 and came with a stand.. I bought a dust bag thing from HF and added it.. Technically I probably could get by without the table saw and just dig out my handheld circular saw.. My table saw started smoking two years ago and I finally broke down and took it apart to find a bad bearing in the gearbox.. Parts were Obsolete for the gearbox but I pressed the old bearing out and went to the local bearing supply shop got a match and it's lasted me another couple years so far.. LOL It's nice to have the thing at times.. even though i could get by without it.. I've grown used to using it that when it was broke for a few weeks with that bearing I found it to be a pain in the behind to dig out the handheld saw.. Not to change the subject again but Ray.. did you ever take the drill press apart and give it a going over?

What's the wife say about you going back to the EX .. This is why I almost always spell out Excalibur or I put Ex-21 LOL Those are beautiful Ray.. Great job with them.. Your gonna catch up to me on saw hours soon...

I've thought about selling at one time .. but the problem is and I've seen it and had it happen to me.. You buy some nice looking boards and by the time they arrive in the mail they are cupped twisted and grew knots in them, LOL... I feel like with all the dis-honest people too.. one that sells lumber is just asking for angry customers and or customers trying to pawn off their junk wood as being the wood you sent them but it's junk.. You'd almost have to keep records of the wood you sold with many photos for proof from those that are dis honest and it really seems as though it could be more hassle than it''d be worth..

You sound like me too... and that is why I try my best to stay away from the two local mills.. LOL.. I end up bringing a truck load their scraps home..
-
I thought so too when I first built it.. now it's so full of stuff there is hardly room to turn around in there... LOL Mostly just needs finished and some shelving put up etc.. and organized.. even as un organized as it is... I know exactly where everything is.. until my wife and kids go moving stuff

Me Too.. My uncle lives right behind me and owns a excavating business and a hobby sawmill.. he's retired now from the excavating but still owns the all the equipment.. anyway.. I think maybe he just switch careers because that hobby mill is running an awful lot, Got some real nice slabs of Walnut yesterday.. live edge stuff etc.. he was just gonna burn it, LOL.. and my brother has been in the mill business since 1975.. he is just 5 mile up the road.. He just gives me cut-offs etc.. which turns out pretty good.. I give him all my planer sawdust.. right now sawdust prices are way up there and he has a hard time not just grinding up his logs into sawdust, LOL

This came up on my FB Memories this morning so I thought I'd show you the inside of my shop.. In the background of some of the pictures you can see my other shop too.. There is two things today that I have to say about this shop... Boy did it fill up fast.. and I should have built a bigger shop, LOL That lean too on the one side there is just a porch.. I've really been considering adding one to the other side to expand my wood shop over to there to free up that one bay.. I originally built this for wood shop only and using the other shop to work on cars etc.. But in putting up this shop they accidentally cut the power line to the old shop.. and the old shop is in rough shape.. so I wasn't going to hook the power back up since the complete electrical was not close to being up to code etc.. probably a good thing it got cut off because the wiring was really old and in rough shape.. probably would of burnt the place down anyway, LOL The dog in that one photo is making sure we was doing everything correctly and in the other photo he is guarding the contents.. ( sand floor ) LOL

Me Too.. They've always been real good to me and get my products typically 2-3 days.. BW took 2 weeks just to process my order and get it in the mail and another 1+ in the mail system... Maybe because I caught them at Christmas time.. but DnD was quick.. Also love the small drill bits that DnD sells.. they come in plastic tubes with a cap.. just like some of the blade storage tubes.. but mini ones LOL
-
Just thought I'd let everyone know that I sent a message to BW last night with my order number and the info needed to prove that I bought the blades from them.. They returned message this afternoon saying they was sending out 2 gross of new blades right away.. I guess that means I have to take back the negative comments I've said about BW.. I don't like ordering from them because they take forever to get here.. compared to DnD.. But then.. DnD also gives good customer service and they have advantage over BW because they are in the U.S. and BW is Canada.. Anyway, I'm happy to throw these blades in the recycle bin.. Thanks everyone for all the comments..

I get a lot of my lumber from my brothers mill up the road.. But most times I don't get to pick and choose the species.. and it's usually green so I bring it home and sticker it out in my old shop.. I've only been getting wood from him for about 1-2 years now and what I got a couple years ago is finally drying out that I can use it.. Most of it is Cherry, Walnut. Ash, Spalted Maple, Hard Maple, and a few odds and ends of various species.. Before getting lumber from my brother I just bought it since at the time I didn't have my big bandsaw to resaw it and also didn't have a planer and his lumber is rough cut.. I still buy a lot of wood since I cannot pick and choose and since most of what I have is still needing drying out.. Our local LLJohnson workbench store runs a wood expo show every Sept.. great deals on lumber during this time so I buy the bulk of my lumber during this event since it's a good 30+ % off normal pricing.. So I typically spend around $800 + or - on lumber and BB ply at this show.. every year I get busier and end up either running out or very close to that before the show comes up so every year I buy a little more lumber, LOL.. I try my best to not need to buy any more lumber until the big sales event.. somehow.. I managed to stretch it the last two years with the help of some of my brothers dried stash of lumber.. and only needing a couple of boards from his stash.. He has two huge barns full of dried out lumber that he has pulled off the mill to use as projects over the years.. and now he is about retirement age.. tells me I just need to come get most that stuff because he'll never use it in his lifetime, LOL Most the lumber I get from him is what is rejected / cutoffs from the grade lumber buyer / inspector.. They have certain specs they have to go by and I think a board has to be 100% clear of any knots etc splits..what have you and they have to get at least a 8 ft clear board maybe it's 6ft? not sure.. but anyway they cut off the ends to get a board they need.. one end might have a knot at the 6-8ft mark even though the board might be a 12 -14 ft.. they cut that off to get their clear board.. and leave whats left behind.. My brother doesn't mess with it and just burns it in his wood burner.. if I don't take it..

Oohh Boy.. her site is like a candy store to me.. I use to get her and Steve Good's email updates.. but all of a sudden they stopped.. well not really.. somehow they keep going into my spam folder that I rarely check.. I've set up my email program to accept the emails.. but only a couple came through as they should and back to the spam folder they go again.. Anyway, Thank you for the heads up on this..I've got some patterns on my wish list on her site.. probably a good time to make the wish list become a reality

I just sent Bear Wood a message.. I have receipt in my bookkeeping files so i have proof of purchase with order number etc.. at one point I had 4 gross of these.. I only ordered 2 gross from BW.. so the others was from DnD.. But I used them and some of the ones from BW.. I have not as many as i thought I did but I do have 1 gross that hasn't even been opened yet and most of the second gross..
-
Thank you for that info.. I'll be contacting them because I have two gross..actually 2.5 gross.. so that is around $70 value that I figured I'd have to throw out..
-
Thanks Ray.. I guess I can place my order now..
-
I suppose that would work.. But why do it the easy way..
