  1. Hmm, some photos might help since I am not certain what you're talking about. Is this adjuster at the back of the saw or near the front of the saw. I'm thinking you're talking about the clevis looking think at the front end of the saw.. but I'm not sure.
  2. I never did get a photo of the wedding cross thing... Since we are going into the Christmas season my top selling ornament is this BMX bike ornament. I threw just a clipart image onto a sprocket image in inkscape and created this.. I believe I posted the pattern here but it's not a cleaned up pattern.. You just have to guess at where the bridges need to be etc, LOL.. I think I did this 3 years ago and was very late into the holiday season so I only sold a handful of them.. last season I sold around 120 of them at $16 each + shipping.. They are selling already this season too so my experience is what starts selling early is going to be the "hot seller" for this season. They are not the funnest to cut with that gear and when having to make so many.. was a fun cut for the last couple years but now it's getting annoying to make, LOL I may stop making them as there is a point and time where then it becomes a job.. or maybe just keep raising the price until the sales slow way up or stop, which is more typically what I tend to do.. Also this laser engraved and cut sonographer ornament that I hand paint the details on.. sold around 200 last year at $18 + shipping each.. have already sold 40 this year. The Mechanic and the Linemen are very close second place ones.. I'm kinda getting away from making larger items and sort of going away from scrolling and moving towards laser stuff.. The demand is way higher for laser engraved than just plain scrolled items for me currently.. much easier to personalize a ornament with the laser than on a scroll saw.. seems that's what everyone is asking for is personalized engravings so I'm just following up with what is wanted.
  3. I don't know what parts go into a board.. I'm doubtful they make the board too, I meant maybe some of the chips and parts that go into the board had a shortage.. There were a lot of things during the chip shortage that we couldn't get.. Friend of mine had to buy a new refrigerator because of something in the board on it needed replaced but they couldn't get them and I guess he wasn't going to wait until they could get the part.. Which reminds me.. I need to see if I can finally get a spare car key made. Two of my cars I bought only have one key and they have the special chip keys.. couldn't get them 2-3 years ago because of all that.. This may having nothing to do with the scroll saw boards I don't know.. Just saying it could be they only are making / buying enough boards to make "new saws" instead of selling boards...
  4. I half wonder if it's just a matter of a computer chip shortage that has trickled through the system from back during the covid crap we went through.. I'm not too far from the auto manufactures and they had brand new cars sitting in parking lots waiting for computer chips so they could sell them. DeWalt will buy up what they need to keep producing new saws but make the parts obsolete..
  5. Sometimes I get the best replies from myself too, .
  6. Pretty sure they're the same.. I have not found any differences in parts between the type 1 & 2.. other than where it was made..
  7. Well, I decided to look for it and it's not available anymore.. what the heck? they still make and sell DeWalts don't they? says obsolete part.. I did find this on eBay and it's only showing 3 in stock.. I'd probably nab it up if you really need one.. There was another store that I've never heard of that said in stock but I'd be a little cautious about that.. at least eBay has some buyer protection if it's not in stock they'll make sure you get your money back.. https://www.ebay.com/itm/126126759858 I also wonder how much difference it might be from a Excalibur type board.. they appear to have the same style / look motors and very similar design etc.. probably the same part.. Seyco would be my choice if they are the same board.. Ray or Mike from Seyco might know if they're the same.. I'd probably go for the eBay one.. but if that fails then I would talk to Seyco.
  8. I never replaced that part but I did replace almost everything else.. ... I got my parts from www.ereplacementparts.com Just type in DW788 in the search bar and it'll bring up your exploded parts view and the parts list..
  9. At the top menu bar on a computer... Or if you're on a phone its click on the 3 lines icon thingy and then click on Community> Groups... Hope that helps.. There is wood turning, food & drinks, craft makers groups too besides the cnc / laser one.
  10. I think Travis seen this coming with all the talk about Lasers and CNC over the past years so he made the cnc / laser groups for paid members.. Of course I'm the only one that post anything there and talk to myself there too.. But no different than the co-worker and staff meetings I have out in the shop.. I had to put up a mirror so I could see who I was talking to.
  11. Same thing for me, I got that Hegner last spring and used it for about a week.. now it's just collecting dust.. I think about selling it and one of the Hawks. I haven't scrolled hardly at all all summer / fall.. But the Laser has been busy making things for me to hand paint, LOL..
  12. Very similar to the Epson I used to have.. I loved it for the larger format but hated the ink system.. This one may be better than mine because this one looks to have ink tanks rather than the cartridge's like mine had.. Cost me a fortune in ink but I sure worked that thing printing patterns and labels before I got a special thermal label printer.. Once it bit the dust for the second time after only about 4 years I was done and went to a small black and white laser printer.. I've always heard good things about the laser printers and I must say it was all true.. My only complaint is I wish I'd have went with a color one so I could print patterns with red lines.. I don't think I'll ever buy another inkjet again.. If I didn't use that Epson I had every few days the ink would dry in the print head and I was continually wasting ink to clean the print head.. The large format was really nice back when I did larger projects but I've slimmed down the larger items and most everything now fits a standard 8.5 x 11.. I'm going with a color laser for sure next time.. I'm just not sure if this Brother printer is ever going to break down.. I've only replaced the ink in my laser printer twice now in 4 years.. and just was only a month or so ago when I changed it the second time..
  13. Wow what a bout of bad luck.. They say it comes in three but you must be going for 9 - 12.. gosh I hope not.. IF new is the only way you want to go then I think the Dewalt is probably the cheapest "new" saw that you'll get with some decent quality.. though I'm not certain where they're made now days.. That WEN you spoke of is pretty new saw to the market.. and we all know brand new stuff usually has to have all the bugs worked out before they start getting a good product.. You might try one and see how it goes.. IF offered extended warranty that could be something to think about with the history of the motor failure.. that I've been reading about. It looks like a decent user friendly saw.. unfortunately the motor is a expensive part to have to replace.. all the ones I've read about had issues while under warranty so it was replaced or repaired.. also read where the replacement one had the motor go bad too.. so.. I have a few WEN tools and they've been really decent tools for the money... so I do think they just had a bad batch of motors go past the quality control or something.. Might be worth getting one to get you by until you find a better saw and more money to spend on one, LOL.. Just keep breaking it right before the warranty is up, LOL
  14. Well, I tried looking for the part too, I assume you're talking about part number 1347372.. I restored a couple old Delta saws back about 15 years ago and Mike from Mikestools.com had bought out several closed up parts stores and he at one time was the only source for a lot of Delta stuff.. He doesn't have the part either so I'm guessing you're going to have to make one or find a used parts P-20.. but that would likely be hard to do.. I wouldn't go with that WEN.. I have seen several people having to return them under warranty for bad motors.. If you get out of the warranty period you likely be in the same situation you have now.. I mean.. this might last long enough to get the other saws repaired but..I have seen some decent reviews on them too.. may be a case of a bad batch going past quality control and maybe you get lucky and get a good one.. I personally would look for a good used higher end saw.. I What other saws are you looking for parts for? Maybe someone on here has a old parts saw that might have the parts you need. I have a few old Delta parts saws..
  15. Yeah there is a different backer for each ornament.. The one you show is one with the banner across to be able to engrave a name, also the version that doesn't have the icon which would be easier with the scroll saw. I don't know how many different versions this set comes with. Well there are a total of 8 in the set but of the 8 there is the ones with the icons around the outer edge and also with a spot for a name and then the set without the icons with and without the spot for names.. basically there 4 different designs of the set of 8.. plus the backers.. Then you get two larger box designs like I made, but instead of angels like mine shows there are crosses.. then the same with a smaller box which I haven't looked at yet.. I think the smaller one if for individual ornaments. When you purchase from this seller you get a ton of variations or at least everything I've gotten from him has had several different options in every set I've bought.
  16. Ray this is a newer version of what I have.. you could run it in the house so long as you're somewhat close to a window or even a dryer vent that you could plug the exhaust tube up to.. Many times this company will have these refurb models cheaper than this one is.. I got mine at the beginning of the trend of lasers and the popularity for these K-40's for the sweet price of about $300 that i gave for mine they are a very powerful and a decent starter machine especially for someone that like's to tinker.. and learn.. https://omtechlaser.com/collections/pre-owned-machines/products/40w-co2-laser-engraver-cutter-us5-032r-us Or like Larry said he's doing.. build an enclosure.
  17. I used the Maple and Walnut 5/32 project panels by Columbia Forest products from Home Depot. The Basswood sheets is a good choice, never thought of that before.
  18. You can just put painters tape on them and most of the stained area is eliminated.. other than the edges where the cuts are. For the most part I don't use tape and just use 400grit paper on my R/O sander and sand it off.. as it's a lot of work to pick that tape back off.. can't soak it with mineral spirits because that washes out the dark engrave part too.. so you're stuck picking it off. The box I never even sanded as it was my first time making something like that and like a dummy I put it together fresh off the laser.. it's such a tight fit I didn't think I could get it back apart without destroying it so I just left it as it was.. This set is going to be a gift to a family member since they spoke up saying they'd take it like it is with the bad burnt up lettering on some of the ornaments. Only time I do use that tape is if I'm working with white laminated MDF board from Lowes.. that stuff cuts very nicely on the laser.. and it's a lot cheaper too. Not sure if I'll put any up for sale, I mainly just planned to make as some gifts for family and a few friends.. If I get a couple extra sets maybe I'll put a couple on to see how they do. Thanks anyway though.
  19. Yeah the plastic piece is sure a dumb idea on those older saws.. The new one has spring steel blade holder keeper things on it. At least they improved that part on these new saws.. and I've been reading a lot about how much better customer service has been so that's good too. My very first Hawk I bought needed the front tension cam and lever replacement.. on all three of my saws.. that is the only worn part that had to be replaced I've ever had so far.. They are very well built and made for production type work.. sure happy I made that move instead of replacing / rebuilding DeWalts every year..
  20. I'm using K-40 Whisperer, but the files made from most of the design files on etsy are making them geared towards lightburn or whatever glowforge uses.. I have to edit every single design to work with my software.. real simple though as I only need to change the colors for cut or engrave lines.. I believe in lightburn you can select what colors you want to do what within the software.. K-40 Whisperer has specific colors for cutting or engraving and I cannot change it within the software thus making me change the colors of the drawing for my software.. hope that makes sense to you.. I really need to get a motherboard for my laser so it can run lightburn, that'd make things a lot less complicated. There is a lot more you can do within lightburn and is the better software out there for lasers so if you're using it or trying to learn to use it.. you're better off, I know there is a lot of learning with it but once you have it figured out it's much easier in the end.. K-40 Whisperer is a very basic real simple to use but in that it's also very limited.. that's why it's so simple to use, LOL.. I have two K-40 lasers now as I found a great buy on a back-up machine.. I'm thinking about getting the motherboard to be able to convert it to lightburn.. then get it all set up so I can then do the same on the laser I'm currently using. Ideally I want to go to a bigger platform.. the one I'm using now only has a workable area of about 8 - 12 inch so projects are limited to small items.. Ideally I'd like to get a 16 x 24 or so.. I'd like to be able to do photo engravings then cut into a jigsaw puzzle.. I think they would be a pretty big hit.. having a wood burned image jigsaw puzzle makes the puzzles that much harder to do.. I should also note since you just recently started playing around with lasers.. I posed in the "laser group section" here in the scrollsaw village site about my findings of different grades of plywood and how they affect the efficiency of the laser.. basically it's saying that the BBply that we use for scroll sawing takes a lot more laser power to engrave and cut than other types of plywood.. Just the same as scroll sawing it.. BBply is harder to cut than some of the MDF core plys.. IF you're engraving and cutting a lot of BBply it's wearing out your laser faster as the more power or more passes you have to make the more you running the machine..
  21. Okay first off yes these was done on the laser. I posted here because aside from the text around the ornament being engraved these could easily be done with a scroll saw. The designer is on Etsy shop name “ Homestyle Customs “ and they have a lot of pattern files that easily could translate to scrolled work. When you download the designs they come in a few different formats one of which is PDF for easily made to print and cut on a scroll saw. With the laser the box joints are precise enough that the box needs no glue, just snaps together. I used a different than normal plywood so the fist few I made the laser was too much power and it cut through too deep on the engraved text and some of the top laminate came off on the a’s, b’s r’s etc so near the end of the batch I finally figured out the power level to work best. Lol I cut them from Maple and the backers from walnut. Oh I should mention that the patterns come with the ring of icons around the outer edge of the ornaments or without them. I have the icons shown here but without the icons the center portion is much larger and probably a much easier way to do on a scroll saw. I’m going to make the ones without next. Almost think without the icons might look better without all the small icons taking away from the center of the main image.
  22. It's a possibility that oiling that wedge is making it wear more, as it could be attracting dust / grit... which is why I moved over to the dry lube also recommended by Bushton.. I was always just following the recommendations in the manual for maintenance.. I don't know. I will say that some saws that wedge is wider than what the arm is so just visually looking at it from the side it looks unworn and like new.. however if you actually remove the wedge and look at it straight on there is visible wear. It has never been very much wear but certainly very little wear.. Since it's off I just dress it and put it back together. I'm doubtful that it'd be worn to a point where it'd need replaced yet if I had never dressed it out.
  23. Good stuff, I spray all the roller wheels etc.. and you can clearly hear the difference in the sound of the motor of the door opener. This sprays as a liquid and will drip until it dries.. usually dries pretty quick but just know it might drip while applying it so move the TVR out or cover with something first. It is mostly clear in color if it does get on something but it does have a slight translucent whitish film it'll leave behind.
  24. Thanks, I’ll check this stuff out.
  25. I've been torn on if I really even like using oil on that as it tends to get messy and attract dust and grit. I started using a dry lube on mine.. in fact I think if you ask Hawk or look in the manual for the new saws that is what it recommends if I remember correctly. I started using this product from P.B. Blaster. https://www.farmandfleet.com/products/369279-blaster-garage-door-lubricant.html?blaintm_source=google&blaintm_medium=lia&setstore=41&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsp6pBhCfARIsAD3GZuaXMxevy-147voUGmPw9cNDV0iUkbYhhlX6bROqBSTz_-PI2o-zMlAaAkO-EALw_wcB I ended up liking this stuff so much that I've been using it on almost everything from car door hinges to lawn mower cables and wheels.. sure makes a slick surface and seems to last quite some time.
