  1. i like using pine for all my work, unless customer wants another type, i also use a propane torch to burns the sides around letters, etc, to give it that ole timey stressed look
  2. when i first began wood burning, i was using sandeply wood, easy to work with, then i started using pine, as of now i use pine for all my wood burnings and relief carvings, and scroll sawing, unless customer wants a different type of wood, to see my work, go to www.cjswoodcrafts.com.
  3. need to add, the crosses will be a memorial for her grand son that passed in 09,from top to bottom she wants his name and on each side of the board width wise she wants date of birth and on other side date of death.
  4. Hey all, i got an order yesterday evening, woman wants 2 crosses about 3 feet high, and i wanna do some fancying it up a bit, i am wondering how could i scroll cut a piece of 2 x4, the kind of wood she wants it done with, i am thinking some kind of angel silhouette if this is even possible, would a spiral blade be the best way to go?   5. hiya vector, yeah i didnt realize thats what the allen wrench was for.... duh me, lol i did get it replaced today replaed the whole saw, also figured it out by looking at ryobi site, on how to install the air tube, well mine was missing s o i had to tape the tube to side of saw, so i got tired of not having it right, now i can start all over, and start enjoying it again
  6. hey yall, got a question, i got a sc164vs variable scroll saw, its been doing well until i started using plain end blades, now, since i have to use pliers to tighten upper blade clamp, the screw has become stripped, wont tighten any more. will a regualr screw the size and length of the blade clamp screw work? when i use the plain end blade, i sand both sides top and bottom, but it still comes out hand tightened, so i had to use pliers. Any advice will be appreciated thanks Jim
  7. hey Chris, thanks, yeah when i was tracing the pattern out onto wood today, i found them floaters, and i bridged her face in a couple places.... but will go ahead and do the highlight all the way across,, i was wondering bout that. i did cut a photo of me and my wife earlier today, i like it but it dont have alot of detail in it, im fixing to watch the dvds again here in a few,,,,just gottatake my time and practice practice practice..   10. made a few changes to the pattern, got rid of them islands, and blacked out some other areas... i'm liking it Jim
  11. This is what i came up with, but when i opened it using kodak easyshare, i did see some islands i need to get rid of by the armpit area, i also posted the original pic to show yall how i came up with the pattern, besides those islands i left, any feedback is appreciated Jim

  14. thanks travis Yeah i did all that, and still wouldnt do anything, the same error came up, so i sownloaded fire fox and woohooo it worked, i hate this slow connection, but where i live i cant get dsl or cable, the post of birds and flowers i put in is a pic of the peice im working on, Thanks again for the reply jim
  15. Birds and flowers, made of plywood, used a pinned regualr tooth blade, still a bit squared around the curves, will take care of that with dremel. Well firefox worked, finally got to be able to upload a pic any feedback will be appreciated
  16. hey all, i am having alot of trouble with adding photos as an attachment.. when i use aol browser i get a cannot display page and when i use internet explorer another error comes up....do i need to use another proggy? like , firefox i just downloaded google chrome and this message came up ERROR The requested URL could not be retrieved While trying to retrieve the URL: posting.php? The following error was encountered: Zero Sized Reply Squid did not receive any data for this request. Your cache administrator is support. Thank you Vector.. i appreciate the info, i am not sure why i bought the spiral blades for, i think i saw another member here say it does real good detailed/fine cuts... gonna go back to home depot today and get another kind today... Hi all, i got a Ryobi SC164VS variable speed 16 inch scroll saw, according to Ryobi.com thatthe saw can take plain end blades and pin end blades, i have been using the pin end since i got it but having to make the hole bigger then what the line is.i tried to install the plain end one today, andi get it tight then tighten the adjustment, just a couple of turns the blade pops out at bottom,i tried googling on how to do it, my instruction manual is no help the blade im trying to install and work with is the spiral plain end... so if you have any answers, i am all ears Sorry for rambling Jim

Hey all, im pretty new to scroll sawing, and i got a question, the patterns i have done, will have a small area that will be cut, and when i use my drill bit, my smallest blade still wont fit inside the hole, i go up a size biiger on the drill bit, and it drills out past the line. i use a 16 inch Ryobi, the blade it uses has the pins that attacheson top and bottom... any help will be appreciated, i printed off some patterns, that im gonna make for my sis in law and family and for my mom in law. so i dont wanna mess it up thanks in advance jim
