  1. Jim. I'm right up here in west bend and would love to take the 788 off your hands.would you take an instalment plan?
  2. That is insanely awesome! great pattern and phenomenal cutting. Maybe one day I will cut that, but I don't think my skill level is up to that yet.
  3. I'm working on my first intarsia piece and I have read many different versions of how to stain white wood so that it does not yellow. I'm not sure if they are really different or just use different terminology. One book said to use white gel stain on white woods but from what I understand white gel stain actually has white tint in it, so why would I use that. other sources call for clear gel stain, which to me makes more sense but the only thing I could find at my local stores is "natural" gel stain. Which ones have you all used for white woods (i'm using holly) I don't want it to yellow and I don't want to screw it up. I have attached a picture of my progress so far, the eagles head still needs some shaping but it is coming along well.
  4. I am hoping to go, I have a friend in Dubuque that I can stay with, I used to work there when I was in College just across the border in Platteville WI. It will be my first show.
  5. I found this pattern a long time ago when I was doing more carving than scrolling and I converted it to a carved cross to be hung on the wall, I have a pict of it when it was complete but I can't seem to find it. This one was shortly before I finished

    Minions

I am so thrilled that so many of you like my minions. Maybe I should make another.
  7. I have this strange idea and I thought I would throw it out there and see what you all think. I want to take a narrow piece of 1/4 BB steam it and bend the whole thing about 45 degrees. Would this work? It would be solid, not scrolled. I think it could work I'm just not sure it's worth the effort.

That is some great cutting, looks great.
  10. I found this at a local consignment shop. It is labeled as a jig saw but I thought you guys would find it interesting. As you can see it is belt driven but does not come with a corresponding motor. The belt is so short I'm not even sure where you would put the motor. Have any of you seen one of these before, do you have more info? For some reason there was not a price tag on it but knowing the price structure there I would say $10-15. I don't think I would buy it, I have no use for it, I just thought you guys might find it interesting.
  11. That's a great superman where can I get that?
  12. I use Kettle Moraine Hardwoods as well, I have never seen another distributor with their selection, I have found some amazing peices of wood there. You did a great job on this one.
  13. Thats a great pattern, and very well cut. My hats off
  14. That looks awesome, looks like it was great fun, I like those challenges.
  15. I made this one for my sister Christmas before last. always meant to make a few more.
  16. The winning piece was auctioned off as part of the charity gala. I have yet to find out how much it went for. I hope a lot.
  17. Thank you all, with your help and the help of my friends on facebook I was indeed the winner of the Peoples Choice Award. I received a small prize. Heres the proof.
  18. Elsa is her name, I have 6 yr old daughter.
  19. any chance that word art is in the pattern library?
  20. I think the turkey baster idea might work. Get a large disposable tin pan from the grocery store to catch the dripping oil and reuse the dripping as you go. I think Danish oil would look great on that wonderful clock.
  21. Grandpa, it's not to late, voting is open till the 21st. And since you're just over in Jackson, I'll let you know that it on display today only at a little shop called "over the Moon" on 6th Ave in West Bend, Wi. If you wanted to drive over and see it.
  22. you're welcome, thanks for making such a great cutting of it. you always do great work.
  23. Dick, if I recall correctly you fused my pattern with someone elses, you prefered a different face than the one i made, but the majority of this one was made by me.
  24. I use self adhesive contact paper from the hobby store. I cut a piece the size of my pattern put it down, then use a spray adhesive to attach the pattern on top of that. It stays put but also comes off clean. Although the Idea of glad press and seal sounds intriguing, I may have to try that one out.
  25. One little correction, and I am being nit picky here cuz it doesn't really matter. Starman is a DC Comics Character not Marvel. Just a little extra info. The cuts are great by the way. Very nice.
