  1. Last night I had my first museum opening for the piece I submitted for the "birds around the bend" contest. It was nerve racking but also so satisfying to have people so interested in my work. The piece will be judged but there is also a people's choice award as well. I would love for you all to vote. Here is the link. www.laclawrann.org/gala-art-view-vote this is the piece
  2. I see that you edited the post, I think that removed the photo. Or my computer is having problems displaying it.
  3. I have been reading a new book called "the Furniture Bible" and it talked a lot about different finishes and effects that are used on furniture. I had a thought to create one of these finishes on panel and then cut it. You could not do it after cutting due to burnishing or extensive polishing. I was wondering if anyone has attempted this or something similar. If so, what were the results?
  4. Is the pattern in the library? I could see myself doing that as a gift.
  5. is the bottom tooled leather, did you do that yourself?
  6. I like the Shield symbol ones, I'm 42 and I would use that as my key chain, of course I grew up reading Marvel comics
  7. I read somewhere of a technique where you use small dots of hot glue to hold a piece in place while the wood glue sets, to prevent shifting. I want to say it was for intastia but I think it could work for other glue ups as well.
  8. I think it's beautiful, you did a great job. Little changes are an artist prerogative.
  9. That is some top notch work, great cutting. Sorry about the ear, I hope it heals quickly
  10. That's gorgeous, very well done. Not sure where I would put it in my home, but I could see it on a mantel
  11. As a choral singer and a scroller I have a great love of this piece. I know many friends, directors and voice teachers in my life would be ecstatic to have this excellent piece of art. Matt
  12. Great job cutting this one. as too the colored paper fading, I go to a local art supply store and they have light fast paper for sale. It costs a bit but you know it will not fade.
  13. I like that a lot, it I had a desk I would keep one of those on it. what did you use for the gong?
  14. Now, if we change that to a G for Green Bay we would be in business. We all know who is going to the Super Bowl this year.
  15. Kevin, how many hours do you cut.? great job.
  16. Looks good Kevin, it's always great to see my patterns cut and to see that they work in real life.
  17. Those are both great, I am currently a displaced scroller and I am missing it quite a lot. that is some awesome cutting.
  18. I have been working on a weebly site as well, and over all I am not overly impressed but it's free so I will work with it.
  19. I just downloaded this today, I'm in the middle of a move so my saw etc are all packed and ready to move but it will be one of the first things I do when I am all set up.

Great job, I love this pattern, I think I will have to do it or something like it someday.

Just finished cutting this. I added a little fabric to the backing board because I did not want to go with just black. I will put some poly on it but that is about all I am going to do to if at this point. The pattern was made from a line drawing I found online and modified for scrolling. I think the wood is Ash, but I am not positive, but it is very hard and I chewed through at least 2 dozen blades making it.
  25. That turned out great, This is the first time one of my patterns has been cut by someone else and it is a great feeling. You did a great job.
