  1. Don't know how I did it, but I messed up both FILL & Stroke colors. For example, if I use the rectangle tool, it automatically FILLS white. All the Paint numbers on the R. show 0 ). If I choose any other color, (i.e. black, red, etc.) the box on the lower left should be all (black)(red). Instead, the left half of the FILL box is checkerboard, the right half is black, but the fill in my rectangle remains white. My question is, "How do I get it back to a solid color showing in the lower left box, as opposed to being half checkerboard." I tried the Inkscape "Help" tab, researched Google, You Tube, Ask.com and consistently come up empty handed. One suggestion I found was to uninstall Inkscape and download it again. I have a lot personal patterns stored, as well as a "Go To" page that has pattern shapes I like and can draw from that group anytime in the future. Would hate to lose my past work. Right now I have an overwhelming desire to throw the laptop off of a cliff, but Iowa is flat, so that's not an option. Any & all advice/suggestions would be Greatly desired and appreciated. Thanks in advance. jerry
  2. Welcome Aboard Sir, I would totally echo Clayton & add something. I rarely break a blade. Here is my 1 1/2 cents worth; All the woodworking tools you mentioned having experience with, cut 100% of the time. Envision the crankshaft in your car. If you look at it from the clockwise end, the piston goes down when connected on the right side. (This is when your blade goes down)(Across the bottom & top of the circle, the blade slows down, stops & reverses direction.) A SCROLLSAW DOES NOT CUT 100% OF THE TIME !! Try sawing in slow motion & practice finding out how slowly you can feed the wood. My impression of what you described is that you might be putting more of a load on the blade than it was ever designed for. Hope this helps Friend. jerry
  3. Charley, I've been a back words sort of guy all my life. I'm a Delta top feeder and I put upward pressure when tightening the bottom clamp. When tensioning the blade in a tiny hole, sometimes it pulls the wood into alignment with the blade. If so, I remove tension and re-clamp. Works well for me. jerry
  4. "Save As" "png" It will put an icon on your desktop. Download from png icon on your desktop. Hope this makes sense Friend. jerry

  6. Hi Jim, Stubborn as hell you say? That makes at least 2 of us. jerry Army '59-61'
  7. I cut an oval, horizontal slot on all my hangings in the backer. Glue the front on so that the slot doesn't show. Two advantages: 1. The piece hangs flat against the wall. 2. Tooth hangers will often not have the teeth on the correct place. With the slot method, you have infinite side to side adjustment, to get the piece to hang straight. jerry
  8. Hi Malcolm, I personally won't use any of these sites, as I have no desire to sell any of my work. Give as personalized gifts to family & friends. Most go to Church organizations, senior centers, retirement homes, etc. One of the great things about this site is to watch how the nice people go in different directions. jerry
  9. Everyday day I check a computer website called Kim Komando. An interesting article today. I never sell any of my work, but this might be something a few of you could find useful. https://www.komando.com/downloads/344701/make-money-by-selling-products-in-your-own-online-store jerry
  10. Kevin, Please tell this group about your knowledge of "Pulling barb wire thru socks). Was alcohol involved? We need to know these things. jerry
  11. Hi Josh, I scroll a lot of 1/4" oak boards. Our Lowes stocks junk. I buy from Menards, it is somewhat better. We don't have a Home Depot, so cannot compare. In the spring, I will send off my first order to; http://www.ocoochhardwoods.com/ Other people on this site seem to like them. jerry
  12. Me AGAIN, It will not upload pdf type, but png works. Will put a few others in the library later. It's so rarely I end up on the right track in life. jerry
  13. Birchmark, You are right on!!!t Don't intend to cut them myself, so I deleted them. They were just filling up the desktop screen. Did save the "Prayer Trivet" that I posted yesterday. I am not completely satisfied with it, so will make changes and post it again in a day or 3. Did a trial run of your method, skipped "Choose Album", went to "Upload" and the desktop appeared. I stopped at that point. Thanks for your help Friend. jerry
  14. How do I upload a pattern to "Pattern Library"? When I try, I get the option "Select Album". When I click that, the only option that comes up is a few pictures in our Photo Album. Can't find other options. Thanks!! jerry
  15. We've had or HP for a few years. It doesn't tell you this on the box, but when we hooked it up, it wouldn't work until you went back and bought a $36 cord that you only needed one time to "start the engine". (We were able to borrow the cord from our son, who lives just a few miles away). I read on a computer site a few months ago that dollar for dollar, a gallon of printer ink equals 200 gallons of gasoline. Don't remember how I was able to set ours, but do some research and there is a way to do a (Quick?)(Fast?) print that drops less ink. When printing, choose "Print Current Page". It will print the page you are looking at, not all 17 that you have no use for. Our oldest son is a computer programmer. He set ours not to show on the screen or print the ads. Have no idea how he did it. jerry (a follow bitcher)
  16. Woodduck, I have already done this: Store the wood & the spray can in the house for a few hours. Put the paint in your pocket, grab the wood & go to the workshop and spray. Our paint cans say "Recoat anytime". I put the paint back in the pocket and wait 10 minutes to re-spray. jerry
  17. Hi Marg, What do you mean "you don't have the time"? Don't you know the saying; "A woman works from sun to sun, but a man's work is never done". (Or something like that......... jerry
  18. Will this work Sir? jerry TREE.pdf
  19. WOW! For a learner, you are certainly on the right track. If I were to make a humble suggestion, it would be that if you look, most designers put their bridges at the bottom of the islands. In a couple of minutes I will post a new pattern titled; "Religious Word Art" I'm sure the other designers will also try to help you. When designing, deal with frustrations as just a way of life! jerry
  20. WigWag You are on the right track, but to me it sounds cumbersome. Guess I better leave well enough alone, but Thanks for trying Sir. jerry
  21. Hi Dave, I work with a LOT of 1/4" oak from Menards (don't waste a trip to Lowes). Warping is a major problem. Will break down and buy a table saw when it's spring in Iowa. Will rip everything into about 3/4" widths, flip every other one over and glue them back together. Have been ripping with the scroll saw & sanding the edges. Be sure to mark each piece for gluing. i.e Every other one "upside down" jerry
  22. Jim, Me again. I found my trivet pattern. jerry herold trivet.pdf
  23. Jim, Do you mean a "hang on the wall" plaque or a sign that sets on a base. I could work on something for you. Would need names. On a different note, I made a trivet pattern with our last name in the middle & first names around the perimeter, along with other designs in it. Might give your friend a different idea. jerry
  24. Larry, You dropped a blade on the floor? Never heard of or experienced that happening. Learn something new everyday here. jerry
  25. To add to LarryE. Here is another joke that goes over well to put somewhere in your hour, to help hold their interest. Grandma and Grandson decided to bake a batch of cookies. Grandma said, "Sweetie, would you read off the list of ingredients and the directions for me. Double everything." The little guy looked at the recipe and said, "Preheat the oven to 700 degrees." A place you might find suitable jokes is; 1funny. Humor is a good filler if you need to fill an hour and keep the audience awake. jerry
