  1. So far, I've only used it once. The 4th photo shows it demonstrated on the narrow end of an oval. Piece "A" shows that it has a "tail" that could be used for something narrow, i.e. a cross that has more weight on one side. Time will tell. jerry
  2. This is all that I could find. https://www.google.com/search?q=scroll+saw+pattern+amazing+grace+how+sweet+the+sound&tbm=isch&source=hp&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwj1lIKTxs7iAhUBDq0KHVIbB1cQ7Al6BAgGEBE&biw=1366&bih=623 jerry
  3. Because I am cursed with being a perfectionist, if I see something that doesn't hang straight, I go out at night and talk to the moon. Made a router jig for cutting a slot on the back of a hanging piece. Never got interested in saw tooth hangers, as a "tooth" was always in the wrong place. If you mount it up-side-down, there isn't much to hold your piece. Place a pencil mark on the piece where you think it should hang. (Figure "C") Figure A is the jig & B is for alignment. There is a 1/4" hole above the "B". Place the hole over the pencil mark. Remove "B". I use a 1/4" straight bit on the router. The opening in "A" is the size of the router base (top to bottom). Sid to side opening is 1 inch wider. jerry
  4. I don't frame many pieces, but when I do, I go to Goodwill and buy. They have lots of nice frames, in various sizes. Sometimes add or subtract from the pattern size to fit the frame. Can't make them for what they sell for. jerry
  5. There you go, thinking again! We have an excellent copy shop close by, after doing what you recommended, I would have it copied in red, as red is much easier on the eyes when cutting.
  6. You might check if "BB" actually stands for "Baltic Birch", or if it means that each "B" is the grade of both the top & bottom of regular ply, and it isn't even Baltic Birch. You can buy regular play with differing grades on top & bottom. jerry
  7. No offense Kind Sir, but I have always been very happy with Sloan's Woodshop. Hopefully Rhonda can beat the cancer devil. jerry
  8. Thanks for the info, however, I only looked at BB ply. The description said that the face contains patches. That instantly turned me off. jerry
  9. Heck, I have a lot of those. jerry
  10. What is this strange "Hold Down Foot" of which you folks speak? Mine goes out with the box the saw was shipped in. jerry
  11. I have been ordering BB from Sloan's for years. Excellent service and have never received a poor piece. A week & a half ago I tried ordering & got a recording that the were closed and would reopen Apr. 1st. Ordered today. I asked Rhonda if they were affected by the flooding. She said, "No, her cancer came back and the will now be open 'about' 3 days a week". jerry
  12. I use a lot of 1/4" solid oak. Our Lowe's oak is not worth looking at. 2 Menards, each about 15 miles away. The one in the larger city has a somewhat better quality. If I need 3 boards, will typically sort through 20 and buy only 1. Whenever I get near a Menards, I just buy some to hoard for later. HOWEVER, I only buy 1/4/X 1 1/2 and glue them together. That eliminates the cupping problem you have trying to find something wider. Just be sure to carefully align the grain when gluing. Now, even I have trouble finding the glue joints on a finished piece. jerry
  13. Some people are like a cow's tail, ALWAYS BEHIND. (So sorry, the devil made me say that). jerry
  14. I did what you are thinking. Electrical box, homemade wood cover & extension cord wire that plugs into the same outlet as the motor.
  15. I checked the craft wood & didn't find anything I wanted. The 11% is quite often, but it is credited to your next purchase. Lowe's on the other hand takes 10% off of anything in the store for us Veterans without question. They enter your phone # one time and after that, each time you buy anything, you just give your #. I buy 1/4" X 1 1/2" solid oak from Menards. Theirs is better than Lowe's. jerry
  16. I always take the old fashioned way that "Less is Better". To square the table, I took a scrap 1/2" X 1 1/2" on edge & sawed a notch into it. Stopped the saw, spun the wood & held it against the back of the blade. Loosened the tilt nut, tapped the table and kept repeating until It fit the notch, until I could flip it upside down & the back of the blade always fit perfectly. Threw the scape away & made one to save. Bored a hole in the end & hang it by the saw. Check it often, especially when cutting a stack. A few years ago I Googled "Protractor". Put the image in Inkscape & made this protractor. Printed & laminated it. Glued it to a 1/4" scrape. Put a blade in backwards & cut a shallow cut at the bottom point. To tilt the table, hold the protractor behind the blade at an angle to insert the blade into the notch. Next, pull the protractor vertical & tilt to the desired angle. Really like both of these. jerry
  17. I bough two 1/4" X 2 X 2' regular ply at Lowe's for backers. I will need to sand them, as they are rough. We have 2 Menard's stores, each about 15 miles away. Went to the one that usually has better quality. Their best piece wasn't even good enough to be called fire wood. jerry
  18. Hi Sir.  Re: buying BB from Amazon.  I need 1/8".  Have you bought from them & if so, what do you think of their quality?  I am ridiculously fussy.  For the number of hours spent on a piece, a blemish  bothers the heck out of me.

    Thank You,

    jerry

Jerry I bought from a company called Woodpeckers http://www.ebay.com/itm/Woodpeckers-Baltic-Birch-Plywood-8-Flat-Sheets-5-mm-1-4-X-12-X-12-B-BB-Grade-/282412794923

They sell both ebay and on Amazon. I buy the better quality B/BB one face is clear and back side has some patches but may only be 1-3 in a 12" X 24" sheet. I liked their product the couple times I bought from them. I use to buy from a local vendor in 5 X 5 sheets but he is no longer in business. So this fits my needs. Always came flat and dry and no damage.

  19. I suppose I could make an exception in your case !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Being an old geezer of unsound mind & body, I have 2 hobbies. Our Iowa garage is unheated, so I saw when the temperature is comfortable. In the winter, I pick cartoons off a tree in the back yard & post them on this site. Have bought BB from Sloan's for years & have never been the least bit disappointed. http://www.sloanswoodshop.com/ In a few days we will be warm. Tried calling Sloan's & their message said they will be closed until Apr.1. For 1/8" fretwork I ALWAYS pay a little extra for their "Good Both Sides". That way, if there is an imperfection on 1 side, I can flip it over. Where do you Nice People buy from? Years ago we attended a wood show & Ocooch had some BB sheets that we bought, but it was like a big box store, I did some sorting to pick out what I wanted. Where are other sites you would recommend ordering from? Thanks in advance. If I wait for Sloan's to reopen, the world wouldn't stop turning. jerry
  21. Tell her there is a Nigerian prince that will assist her. jerry
  22. Not on subject, but for screws I keep a tube of lip balm in the shop. Night & day difference. jerry
  23. If it is that far off, check if the factory assembled it with one or both clamps up-side-down. jerry
  24. I've had one for a few years, slightly different model. Kinda fun to know the run time for a piece. Two things; 1. They cannot be reset. I keep a notebook by the saw and write down the "start" & "end" time. 2. As you mentioned, there is a lot it doesn't tell you, i.e. wood prep time, acquiring & applying the pattern, time spent putting on the finish, cleaning up your messy shop, etc. I still like mine. jerry
