  5. Hi Frank Looks terrific. A lot of fine cutting. Only you know what area is Brocken. A great job. What material do you use for the black background?

  8. Thanks Jim. I have to share an article I read one time where this scroller had the same size shop as myself where he didn't have to get up being everything was within reach. He said the only thing he was missing was a toilet, but he was working on that idea.
  9. Thanks Dick. My next shop will be a little larger, but surprisingly I've made do so far.
  10. Thanks Pau, Lol !!!
  11. Thanks Roly, Lol !!!
  12. Hi Martin; I agree with the above members where a spray lacquer is an excellent choice and easy to apply. Brown paper bag. Thanks for the tip. Something I haven't tried. Another process I've used being I prefer a natural finish is cabinet makers wax. I'll cut out three or four sizes of birch I need for the portrait or scene, router the edges to my liking, apply the wax and finish each board. Then I stack the pieces, apply the pattern and cut away. When done they are finished except for the one that had the pattern attached. Just an idea that works for me. Everyone has their own liking when it comes to finishing a project. Good luck and I hope your portraits turn out beautiful.
  13. Hi Luis I've seen many different bath room signs but not these ones. No mistaken for who goes where. Very we'll done.
  14. Hi Luis I really like the design. Very we'll done.

  16. Hi Nick; You have a nice selection on display. Was there a particular item that drew the most attention? Hope you did well.
  17. Hi Roy; A very warm WELCOME !!! I see you are an artist. Nice work. I am also a new member and have been enjoying this village meeting some beautiful people. One thing for sure there's always something to learn and the best part is learning from others that share the same interests. Enjoy.

  19. Hi Troy; From one Canadian to another. A very warm WELCOME !!! Door is wide open (DON'T CLOSE IT). You are about to meet some real great folks.
  20. Hi Rusty; One reason regarding some of the bad reviews you came across regarding the DeWalt is that around 2003 they started acquiring some of the parts off shore in order to offset costs and like so many commodities today most manufacturers have no alternative in order to stay competitive in the market place. All to do with the high cost of labour. I know even in our business we had to close the quarry we use to own in Quebec. We now purchase majority of our granite out of China in order to stay competitive. Sorry for going on and on. And you are right, you don't want an item that is high maintenance. Which is why I don't mind paying more providing I am going to get the service when in need. Now I don't know what the new Excalibur scroll saws are like now that they are made by General but the reviews I have read have been good. One downside of course is that not everyone wants to be in that price range. Thank you.
  21. Hi Dick Thank you for the tip. I have never made a puzzle. I'll check out GIMP. My wife has always been a real puzzle. I wonder if there'd be a pattern to fit.
  22. Hi Rusty My choice would be the Excalibur providing the 16" is going to satisfy your needs. 14 years ago I purchased the 30" Excalibur belt driven and has operated flawlessly. There is little to no vibration, changing blades is fast, I get more use out of each blade by simply raising the top arm a little, smooth and quiet. Service from the company is excellent. DeWalt is also a good saw and it used to be made by Excalibur until I believe 2003. Google the reviews on each and it will give you some indication on the pros and cons of each. Good luck with your decision.
  23. Love the knives and the art work on them Clayton Where do you acquire most of your exotic woods from?
