  1. Well done Alex.
  2. New items are always a welcome. Well done Scott.
  3. Well done Pete.
  4. Just think how much more you could have achieved if you didn't sleep in ... Lol Great work Kevin.
  5. Fine cutting Joe. The steel wool does make a difference and you may in time think of an alternative.
  6. That's a good size welcome sign Dan. Looks terrific. Now people will definitely know they are WELCOMED.
  7. Unfortunately this can happen to anyone doing a show. Expect the worst going in, and sure enough ... I recall doing a show three hours away. Set up in a hotel display room and the event was even advertised. This was a two day ordeal, or should I say pure punishment because not a single person showed, Half way through the second day and I had it. Packed up and got out. Lesson learned. Yes Scott most people will have at least one bad show. Thank God it doesn't happen too often. All the best with your next showing. This could be a good start of others that wish to chime in - MY WORST SHOW
  8. Thickness and hardness of wood will dictate what size of blade should be used for cutting. It's' important to hold your work down with a certain amount of pressure while guiding your work through (to reduce chatter). But at the same time let the blade do the cutting. If you push too hard you may acquire blade breakage, burn marks on your work and overall frustration. Speed of saw is also a variable that comes into play. Other places I would research for advice would be Google, uTube, scroll saw magazines and your local library, just to name a few. And of course practice and experiment. In a short time it will be automatic.
  9. Like most I have a full shop of tools. But the tools I use the most when it comes to scrolling is a Dremel flex shaft along with a Dremel drill press. Two items I definitely wouldn't do without. A bandsaw would make it three and four would be a disc and belt sander. Scraper blades are amazing items. I use very little sandpaper and they help my lungs and shop stay cleaner. Not to mention they are better at finishing than sandpaper. Proper lighting, good quality dust mask and ear protection can add years onto your scrolling and wood working life. Of course decent seating can extend your time at the saw which may or may not make your partner happy. So judge your seating accordingly. The list can go on and on, so help me out.
  10. fine cutting of a beautiful pattern Jeff.
  11. I agree. Let the saw blade dictate what's straight. Like any tool, guide it along, relax and you'll be cutting straight lines in no time.
  12. My prayers are with you my friend. I kinda know where you're at. I had a big heart attack last spring with a lot of damage to the bottom left. Had one stint put in. I also have an aneurism in the stomach that needs operating on when my heart improves. I do my regular excersizing at the track meeting friends and making new ones. Laughter really helps and of course faith knowing you will come out of this with a more positive outlook. So again Brad my prayers are with you both.
