If you have ever been in a doctor's office or the hospital, you know the importance of the nurse. Out of respect for their position in the medical world I submit RN Keep The Beat. Might make a nice gift for a nurse you know. I cut mine from a thick slab of Peruvian Walnut and used the off cut to shape a wave pattern for the top layer of the base. As with the Golf Club pattern, I placed the assembly on a slab of pine and finished it all off with a clear spray. This was another pattern request from a donor to this page. Free Pattern Available:

One of my Free Page donors asked if I could do several patterns, so I will be posting those as I complete them. This is the first for golfers, following the idea of the Archery Club I designed earlier. I cut this one from 1/4" walnut and used the off cut reshaped for the top layer of the base. I used pine for the bottom of the base. Free Pattern available:

Enjoyed creating this sign in honor of our veterans of all types. I used the sword because of its symbolic power, but I also saw in the shape (if you look closely with your imagination) the outline of an airplane, submarine, aircraft carrier, and torpedo all of which are symbolic of our forces and the great people who manned them. I cut mine from red oak (not such a good idea because it doesn't hold together very well when detail cutting) and mounted it on a pine slab which I dressed with stripe cuts along the edges and on top. Hope you like working with this project. Free Pattern

This pattern is based on a variation of the line from the John Masefield poem, "Sea Fever." The mystique of the sea has always made a nice theme for works of art. cut the main piece from maple and mounted it on a stressed piece of cherry wood. To add a special effect to the base I made some waves from a scrap piece of spalted maple. Combining different woods and different effects sometimes makes your piece more attractive as well as meaningful. The free pattern above is available for download on my FREE PATTERNS page linked from the Index page on my website. VIDEO ALERT: Just want to let you know that I put up another video on my YouTube channel. I decided to upgrade the table on my Excalibur scroll saw, so I ordered some magnetic sign material and gave my table a "face lift" so to speak. If your table is wearing out and looking rather scruffy, you might want to check out the video to see what a difference this can make. I used it on the Excalibur, but I'm sure this can be done to other tables as well.

If you have a music room or know someone who is into music heavily, you might want to cut the unique sign for them. It is made up from three pieces. I cut my backboard from walnut, the exploding staff is cut from cherry, and the title MUSIC along with the G clef is cut from a nicely grained spalted maple. Of course you can use other woods. The staff is glued on center to the backboard first. On top of that is glued the lettering. I let this wooden sandwich sit under a heavy press for about an hour to assure a good glue up. Makes a nice gift. Free Pattern:

Hi, Kevin. Can you put up a picture of your cut so we can see it? Thanks Al

That old saying "Home Sweet Home" has been pictured many ways, so I was trying to find a new way to express it in wood. I came up with a sort of modern version with the hearts representing a family, perhaps. I cut mine from Sapele and mounted it on a piece of cherry. Happy to find a nice piece of cherry in my cut off box with a slight knot that gives the base a nice feel and compliments the sign. Hope you enjoy cutting it. Free Pattern.

Hi, Len. I've attached a picture looking down on the base for the Ferrari sign. The technique I use in making these bases is explained in a tutorial I offer on my Tutorial Download Page. You can get it there or if you make a donation to my FREE PATTERNS PAGE you can get it for free along with a eBook of over 30 of the free patterns, including high rez pictures of my cuts. You can also check out a couple of videos I have on making and attaching bases to the signs on My YouTube Channel Videos. I welcome any comments or questions, of course. Al B.

Tried to create something a little different here for the graduate. Can be used for either male or female and if you are familiar with Photoshop or some other art program you can change the date for future use easily enough. Shows the main symbols of graduation along with a slogan that says it all "Sweet Success". I cut mine from cherry and used the out cuts as usual to make a unique base for the sign. The trickiest part of the cut is the stars, since they are outline figures and very fragile. You might want to make the stars solid instead which makes the cuts easier. By the way, I do custom patterns for graduation, if you need something special and have an idea, let me know. The cost of custom patterns is very reasonable and you can have a unique piece to cut for special occasions, like graduation, confirmation, etc. This Free Pattern can be downloaded from my FREE PATTERN page.

I thought I'd try adding a bit of animation to a sign, so I came up with this roulette type wheel that can be added to the base. The pattern has all the parts and is easy to assemble. I made the post for the wheel from 1/4" birch ply and used a dowel to have the wheel spin on it. The arrow is glued to the end of the dowel as a marker for the symbols and also keeps the wheel from coming off. No special significance to the symbols you can manufacture a game of your own, or use just numbers to make a spinner for monopoly, if you like. Download Free Pattern VIDEO ALERT: I've put up a video on YouTube mainly for beginners on how I attach my signs to bases and I also included a little tip on how to spray the signs without getting drip or run off. If you care to view it I've posted it on my YouTube Channel.

If you like rams this sign is for you. Always amazed at the power of their head butting. I cut mine from a piece of maple and from the off cut I shaped a nice base for it. Free pattern:

Ever wanted to own a Ferrari? Well here's your chance to make your own and take it for a test drive on your desktop. This sign is in the shape of the 1984 model (who wouldn't want one of these?). I cut mine from Sapele and used the off cut along with a poplar blank to make a rambling base for it. Should make a nice conversation piece at your next car show. Free pattern:

This little sign offers a different twist on the Communion theme. It show a little boy and girl in deep prayer under God' natural canopy, the tree. And a nice bower with crosses celebrate the First Communion. The sign is customizable if you want to add a date or name(s) you can cut them out in the tree area. If you don't know how to modify a pattern you can use a stencil with pencil to add this detail on the patter. I cut mine from a nice piece of cherry wood and mounted it on a stressed improvised cut of Lati wood, a rather beautifully grained wood. If you can find this in your area, you might want to try it for some projects. Most of my customers fell in love with its qualities the first time they was it. The free pattern is available for download on my FREE PATTERNS page linked from the Index page on my website.

Well, perhaps I'm wrong, but I used the header of the Armed Forces Page here: https://www.defense.gov/Know-Your-Military/Our-Forces/

Armed Forces Day is celebrated on May 18 and this is a nice table sign to recognize this important day to all the men and women who make sacrifices to keep our country safe. This piece is easy enough to cut out. The lettering is big and bold and the stars which represent the six departments of service are large enough to cut easily. I cut this from another variegated blank I made of several woods. The off cut from the base show the tops of the stars so I decided to make that part of the base. The bottom of the base is a nice piece of maple. Hope you enjoy working with this pattern. You can download the free pattern from my FREE PATTERN page.

Excellent job. I love the contrast of the woods.

Put together this optical illusion into wood. I cut mine from pine and used the cutoff for a base. When you first look at it you see a penguin, but look again and it Abe Lincoln. If you'd like the pattern for this it is free on my FREE PATTERN page

Thanks for the video. Great idea.

The latest talk is about the end of the popular TV series "Game of Thrones" so I thought it fitting to do a sign commemorating the show. I cut mine from a blank of various wood scraps I put together, therefore you'll notice different colored woods throughout. The starkness of the series impressed me the most, so I made the base a combination of radical angles and levels. Hope you enjoy working with this pattern. Available for free on my FREE PATTERN page. Also available is my attempt a humor with the title.

Great gift for a new baby. I cut mine from a fancy grained poplar 1/4". I had a short blank made from pieces of scrap I had and wanted to use it for the base, but it was too short, unless I used it diagonally. So I improvised a cut around the edges to make an interesting variegated base for the sign to sit upon. Don't like wasting wood if I can help it. Pattern

Thanks for the comments, guys. Appreciate it. Yes, the link to my patterns is http://baggetta.com/pebooks/puzzle_patterns.htm The patterns on the FREE PATTERNS page are updated daily (see below). I'm slowly transferring all of my eBooks to my Etsy store, where they are on sale at considerably lower cost than I am able to working through Pay Pal. You can see which 50 eBooks I have available at my Etsy Store Link. If you ever order an eBook or pattern and don't receive it, send me an email at [email protected] and I'll get on the problem immediately. I set a goal to create (and cut) a new table sign each day. Patterns will be available on my page. I'll try to post them here, too in the Brag forum, if I can keep up. Best Al B.

Father's day will be upon us soon so here's a nice sentimental sign. Nothing says Father's day like a fist bump. I cut the sign from variegated wood I constructed from assorted scrap pieces I had lying around. The base is from sapele wood and it is layered on top of a piece of pine. Simple and direct. The pattern is free on my FREE PATTERN PAGE.
