  1. Thanks ,You will never Believe, how much a totally clean kerf lets you actually see errs before you make them.especially on stacks or other thick stuff !
  2. Another challenging Pattern by Neptun. 3/4" white wood %3 spiral
  3. WOW ! That was IMPRESSIVE !
  4. WELL NOW IS THE TIME TO POST YOUR PICTURES AND RESULTS OF YOUR SYSTEMS CATCHING THE DUST FROM YOUR SCROLL SAW .IT"S A TWO WAY STREET,RIGHT GUY"S !! Carl
  5. Bob Every thing is as is in the video, with the exception of BLOWER taking the Place of VAC.As you can see we are in pollen season !Carl
  6. Sounds like your ready for a trial ,I suggest you use a large vac. first . make sure it works good first, Quieting down a system that does't work well is of little benefit ! Getting a suitable Blower may take sometime to find ! Almost everybody has access to a suitable vac. That was the main reason I went that way ! So I could modify and perfect, then I new what worked well and could find a suitable quieter power supply, sort of reverse engrng. Carl
  7. The right kind of blower can be turned into a suction device,to remove all the dust from your scroll saw, when set up properly and a lot quieter than a large shop vac. I just converted mine today, everything remains the same only, the converted blower replaced the vac, as the suction device, all I hear now is the suction at the blade area top and bottom. I designed (plug and play)so if needed I can go back to the vac, in 2 min.will test for a while before moving the vac. back to my shop !Shop vac is 16 gal. 6 peak hp. blower is 2 hp. Should be cheaper to operate, and far less noise for neighbors to hear as mine is on the porch! Blower I recycled and repaired defective switch. I installed clear panel with adapter on intake, replacing screened guard. Carl
  8. I love it !! Your right ,But there are so many WHALES and so little time, NOT ALL, are ,wrapped around my scroll saw !! Good one DOUG! Thanks I needed a good Chuckle ! Carl
  9. Well the latest modification of using a Large recycled blower ,Is much quieter and has plenty of pull ,adapted to replace vac, with converted blower a great success, Everything Else remains the same ,now all you hear is the actual mild suction sound . Now I have a Quiet Dust Free Scroll Saw . The whale has been consumed ! Carl
  10. E-mail response has been amazing ,getting to them as fast as I can ! Carl
  11. Welcome Jim,It's a three ring circus ,some days you have to wear your boots ,others, your waders ,lot of expertise here . Enjoy the adventure ! Carl
  12. A little dab will do you ,any extra you get on you sunday will be with you thursday ,and numerous places you have been ,super stuff save the threads from galling the softer metal ,causing the wear till failure !
  13. Never been good at the con thing ! Takes a LOT of stuff to pay for Saw and all your other stuff ,you are to be praised for being able to accomplish that ! Patterns, wood, frames etc. That's quite an accomplishment and still be a HOBBY ! Congratulations to all of you !
  14. Don' forget the anti-seize compound ! Threads only !carl
  15. What ever you use ,liquid or spray ,lite coats are better than thick ,thorough sanding unless going rustic, sealing with a compatible sealer saves boo boo;s and paint especially light colors, flat, semi, mat and gloss have there place and effect the mood and details seen and unseen .Last but most important it's only paint if and when things go wrong ,you can repaint! Carl
  16. Very well done !
  17. Roly ! I am calm as a cucumber, Now that the system has stood the test of time ,I may be able to reverse engr.the vac.sound to achieve lower noise level, time will tell (MORE WHALE TO EAT),I have a large high speed blower from a bounce house water slide I salvaged and redone, unsure if it has enough cfm when fed to a filtered catch trap to be able to have enough draw, I was trying to stay with stuff everybody had access to that actually worked! Keep the faith ,Carl
  18. I really was not upset ,Just stating facts, My old combo.camera has no wind filter, like most actual video cameras do,amplifing the air turbulace sound on the video. Doing all this DIY as cheaply as possible, recycling components I had or could get cheaply ,does have limits . Very pleased with the DUST removal abilities, I my case Dust capture is far more important, than very QUIET ! Sorry if it came across that way, Looking forward to seeing some of your scroll work ! Carl
  19. Ray! I too hear that sound in the video ,but remember the mic picks up those sounds much better than voice. The issue here is TOTAL DUST CAPTURE, now that,THAT has been ACCOMPLISHED, there may be a way to quiet down the sound,(more WHALE to eat.) With the choice between the Marginal Sound and DUST FREE or DUST and MESS and filters, box fans & a little quieter, you know my choice ,yours is totally up to you ! Please remember, I ain't selling a damn thing. No plans, parts or gadgets! I appreciate your kind words and interest, and look forward to seeing some of the scroll saw projects you are working on ! Carl
  20. Slicker that wet Georgia Clay on a slope .You done it again !! Carl
  21. Dick, No whale is too big to Eat ,one bite at a time ,JUST REQUIRES A LOT OF REFRIGERATION ,and a serious love of WHALE ! It took me over three yrs. to get to this point (Eat some ,froze the rest in small chunks )I had a working system for over two yrs. Tuning ,tweeking & adjusting took the longest ! Like EDISON ,I can tell you 2000 ways that didn't pass the test of time !My personality ,demands multiple projects constantly to keep my mind happy and off negative things we all have ! Thanks for your interest and understanding . My best ! Carl
  22. Thank You for the kind words .I too am a visual person,I hope ,there is something in there that helps those interested in dust control either because of health needs or allowing them to bring inside so they can do there hobby in the comfort of there home yr. round ! Thanks again .Carl
  23. You underestimate your skills & abilities ,works like so many things ,you start at the source of the dust and ask (YOURSELF) (How) can I extract it ,I really believe I could adapt (any) saw to this system .Once that seed is planted ,your brain will work on different ways to accomplish it ( Can't) should be replaced with (HOW!) one hole at a time! I have seen your work ,Desire is more important than an engineering degree .IT is simply plumbing of air flow in reverse . If you want some help ,PM me . Sorry your so far away ,I would invite you over and in short order we would have a great system on your saw ! Thank you for your kind words ,It is much easier than you think ! MY best ! Carl
  24. I have already been in one ,major reason why ,don't wish it on anybody ! Nice though huh!
  25. DUST FREE SCROLLING ,I have been talking about it for a long time ,I have been trying to condense in to a simple format to illustrate the effectiveness of the system .I decided to do the test cutting sheet rock materials , The ultra-fines are the dangerous dust ,that you breath ,the heavy chunky stuff ,makes a mess ,but is too big to breath ,unless you are real determined and just plain stupid ! My system gets them all, because it catches them at the source, at the BLADE TOP AND BOTTOM! For the test I made a sheet rock sandwich that is composed off a piece of green sheet rock ½†covered with blue tape. Sealing the sheet rock to prevent edge crumbling, so all that gets on the table was from the actual cutting of the material. Trying to demonstrate only the dust collection of the process making a video is only to show the capabilities of the collection of dust , time is critical ,when making a video , But I hope it conveys the abilities of the system ,and will show ,just how dust free it is possible to scroll , for those of you who have dust issues ,or just want to be able to scroll in the house without all the mess ! Posting on U-TUBE. All this video and u-tube posting is all new to me! So cut me some slack, All of this is DIY by me, there are a lot of pictures of different stages and improvements, in the process, up to now! Posted on SSV and my gallery and on SS WW &C The new light assembly, shown eliminated the shadows, the smaller light couldn’t, and tips to provide great light for us bottom loaders. The lamp is locked and UN locked with a jam nut, making it stationary or adjustable. I will attempt to describe the system while showing it, then turn on the vac. cut half the pc. Show upper and lower blade areas for dust! Then shut off vac. and show cut the second half .w/o any blowers ,fans or Other aids and see the difference ,To this point ,I have seen no posts of any one doing the test I posted weeks ago! My test here ,should keep all the dust from blowing all over ,if not ,I will shut it down to protect my computer (4 ‘ away ) ! I will be using a #5 FD Spiral for the test! I hope this will show approx. the ultra-fine dust your saw would create in a couple hrs. Of scrolling less all the big stuff also produced when scrolling. Constructive comments and Question Welcome! I’m sorry I have not figured out how to put hyperlinks in yet. But go onto YouTube and do a search for (My home made complete dust free system by Carl Jacobs ) My Best as always!
