  1. I would use a dremel ,slow and easy ! cutting inside just ahair then stone the finish !
  2. jIM.i DO NOTKNOW WHAT TO TELL YOU,I hAVE BEEN USING,a 16 gal shop vac w/ a 7 gal. DIY fein style separator to two '' PVC STRAIGHT PIPE thru the wall to an ebow to my chip trap to a 1'' y To 2 std vac cleaner hose salvaged one goes to upper arm assembly one to under table manifold for 3yrs now ,I think the key to it's sucess is the dry wall bag in the vac itself ,keeping dust from getting to the bearings and brushes in the motor some days it runs for 4-5 hours a day since I also have it piped to my dremel cutting and sanding cabinet and also my drill press .plus it is out side in the shade open but protected from the weather winter and summer on my porch . I could die tomorrow ,if so I will just replace w/ another one w/ a new bag ! I am that satisfied with the results ! I have no dust and no issues ,if I have a video camera ,I would tape and show ,to this point you only have my word !
  3. I am afraid I was being forceaceous, trying to make a point .so many ,limit there comments to the bare minium and leave important details out and leave a lot to the immiagnation .in there explanation . your absolutely right about the vac step needed and was not really pickking on you personally ,the need for this type of care is vital and many practice none or claim they do more than they do ! Removing all the dust from the surrounding area is a passion ,so masks and resessorators don't have to be cleaned and bagge dafter es use and applied before entering work area ,they are hot and sweatty and not the most comfortable things to use and you still have all the dust around everything you touch .THAT IS WHY i am such a stickler for catching it all and removing it all from the scene at the source ,IT IS QUITE DOABLE AND EFFECTIVE , AND PROBABLY COST LESS THE MASK AND CANASTERS !
  4. I seal mine after i cut into sizes and shrink wrap and keep out of the sun ,resaw is a totally different stickes flat and weight and wait plane stick and weight and wait 1 sand and seal !
  5. check with you embassy !
  6. It's all moisture as above ,stated ,look at the end grain will give you the indication of which way the curves are are going to be the natural way it will cup, even flat wood will cup if moisture is present on on side or the other from air vents etc when complete helps to seal both side and ends .If you want to see dramatic effect bring hoe a new sheet of 1/2 plywood and lay in your front yard in the sun for a couple hours and you are likely to have a potatoe chip 4x8'
  7. Thats great if you have a decontamination chamber to vac the rest of you body after your done !
  8. Simple THE BLADE is BOSS ,TENSION is KING ,slow Saw speed ,easy delicate feed ,FOLOW THE BLADE ,no force ! THAT IT !!!
  9. I have no interest or desire to change any bodies sucessful and happy way of doing things .speed I never measured to compare ,tipping to feed blocked enough lite to cause issues for me ,I am happy you do not have any issues and need no ideas to help ! Did not mean to waste anyones time posting ,It won't happen again !
  10. getting the mirror in the right position to be out of the way in the cutting position and in the reflective position to light the bottom well in the swing open position was the challenge .That was the tough part adding w/o screwing up what worked so well !
  11. I have never had trouble loading loading, either ,just being able to see ,well under, especially on a large piece ,this addition cure that !
  12. SPECIAL ,jig mounts ,.I made to cut oil impregnated micarta .for injection molding machines I did over 10 years ago wears sleaves for chain drive auto clamp adjustments for obsolete machines ! My saw has a lot of history to it ! serviced them for over 30 yrs all over the country !
  13. Getting good lighting under to see entery holes has always been a chore, streamlining upper keyed swing arm has allowed for simple cure for the problem ,see what you think !
  14. I fear sag and warp ,may eat your lunch !
  15. I am Glad to see some people starting to take the issue seriously ,and realizing the blower system is nothing more than a ATOMIZER for the ulta fine dust ! The mess is just that ,the larger particles are the mess the ultra fines are the real problems ,Collecting at the source top and bottom is the best way I have found to create a DUST FREE scroll saw ! with chip traping and fine filteration confines all of the dust from re entering the area ! Collecting the finest dust from 0/3 spirals from beaverboard or emf Oak veneer stacked ply to BB -To 3/4" ply or solid .It can easily and completely done !
  16. Best I Know ,The top of the existing table is center of the blade .raising any height ,reduces ,saw stroke on top ,changes center point of blade cutting angle ,neither may be a problem ,lowers table pivot point (cam action ) just some things to consider on plan B
  17. Bubba ,I checked your profile ,my your modest ,I guess I'll have to go to the coffee shop ,and tell them ,what a famous man you really are !
  18. Thanks ,everybody ,Pat & I ,want to express our Thanks for all the efforts on the patterns provided ,and all the good wishes ,had to choose one and get going ,Mahendra ,I hope, I did justice to your great pattern !
  19. Find an old furniture refinisher and repairer ,He can tell you more in five minutes than woodcraft can in a week !
  20. ChecK the edges ,The end grain is most telling almost always is darker when stained.
  21. That is finer and slicker than possum drippin's filtered through Frog Hair !
  22. The Fact is it is only money! !Buy a new one then you will be TOTALLY Happy ! You are definitely a HEGAN MAN !
  23. If ,you are serious about using the saw and mastering it ,I would forget the portability and set up a small area dedicated to it .The portability with your conditions and restrictions will be a major project and impose limits , that you say you do not want .moving the stuff you seldom use ,and seldom need ,is chore enough . Spring loaded caster's are expensive and require raising and lowering mech. space and stability issues abound by your own design . In my mind not worth the effort or expense ! Only you can decide ,what your actual plans are for the Scroll saw and it's future with You !
  24. I guess I have been fortunate ,been using closed manifold ,under and periscope over for two yrs ,plus have had no issues ,final dry wall bag ,eliminates any dust getting to the shop vac bearings ,and being out side helps keep unit cool . collecting at the source of the dust at all times ,seems to keep the pressure and the rpm's constant ! May fail tomorrow ,but I doubt it . keep tinkering ,streamlining ,just added small mirror to light up bottom load lighting ,big help seeing starter holes ,that was an issue ,no more ,all keyed on single swing .I love the total dust free capabilities of this arrangement .and ease of use ! Mine is a 788 but I feel could be done on any modern saw ,with same results ! What ever ,works for the conditions and needs you have ,is what works best for you should be used ,I just can not handle the dust !
