  1. well done. I like the darker background. It makes things stand out a lot better. Way to go Dick heppnerguy
  2. We have a cousin who ask for a plaque to hold her keys. We looked at possible patterns, to see what she had in mind and she found the light wood pattern on Steve Goods page, so i told her I could cut it and glue it on a backer board. She agreed and this is what we came up with. the mark on the lower left corner does not exist on the plaque. It must have been a shadow or some reflection Dick heppnerguy
  3. http://www.stevedgood.com/segmentedrose.pdf here is the link to this pattern.. Easy one to cut and make, especially for someone with your talent Dick heppnerguy
  4. excellent job on a truly challenging piece. You can probably cut almost anything, I would venture to guess, with the outcome of this one. Dick heppnerguy
  5. beautifully done. You have me thinking about this one again. Dick heppnerguy
  6. Pattern making takes getting an idea and turning it into a person piece of art. That is what you did so well here. Keep up the pattern making. Dick heppnerguy
  7. I love these. They a simple and original and yet extremely enjoyable to look at. You have a great idea here Dick heppnerguy
  8. I decided to add the lines to see if it looked a little more finished, you know, sort of like a frame. I usually do an extended backer board and thought I may enjoy it a little more with this look. I, personally, think I do like it better this way. Thanks for your opinion as I cherish all the ones people give me. I was looking for something a little different this time. Dick heppnerguy P.S. I hope you are feeling and doing well. Not sure as we have not chatted for awhile
  9. Because shop time has been at a premium, i decided I had better get on the stick and cut a couple of new Valentine plaques for my wife to add to her Valentine decorations that she puts out every year. The heart is one that Shady Lady here in The Village posted in 2009, I always liked it buy never got around to actually cutting it. I think it is a very pretty and nicely done pattern. The ones on the right is a Steve Good pattern that I also thought was a really pretty piece so I cut her that one also. Dick heppnerguy
  10. This Sam Custodio pattern I cut for my granddaughter's family. She does not like bees so I did not include the bee portrait in it but substituted an angel instead. I enjoyed cutting this one and plan on doing a couple more like this Dick heppnerguy
  11. Here is a pattern I made several years ago, when I was trying to learn pattern making. I found that I was able to make a pattern but at the same time I also was making a lot of mistakes that I did not catch while in the process of making them. Because I did not take the time to actually cut my patterns, I did not discover my mistakes, although a few members here helped me to discover some of them and took their time to point them out to me for correction., I appreciated their help and taking the time to show me my errors. That helped me to try to observe more closely, when I was making a pattern in the future. I cut one of my patterns and posted it last week and now I I have decided to post other patterns along with any comments of things I have discovered by doing so. Something I just noticed as I was posting this, is the left shoulder should have been an outline and not a full cutout, That is only one of the mistakes that I have come across by cutting my own pattern attempts.. I will post others as I cut them out. In this pattern of William Cody ( Buffalo Bill). I found several places where I purposely changed the pattern as I was cutting because of errors or things I thought would look better if I did so. Just to glance at this cutting and the pattern I posted in the ' people ' section of the pattern library, I don't think a lot of what I changed would stand out, but in closer observations one could see them. It is one of my better patterns, keeping in mind that they all are early stages of giving this a try, I decided to keep them to look back on should I continue to make more of them. Any comments are more than welcome, as that is what helps someone that is starting something for the first time. Dick heppnerguy
  12. I like that pattern also. Not a Bob Marley fan but if I was, I would have to cut one too. Heck, maybe I will anyway Dick heppnerguy
  13. looks great..weill done Dick heppnerguy

  15. nice touch on the game. It sure adds interest when playing it. Looks like an arcade game now Dick heppnerguy
  16. Thank so much for taking your time to type and send this to me.. I just now saw it and I copied and saved it for later 'go to' . I am now going to print it and go study it and see what you have to say about GIMP. I have used this program a few times and will see if there is anything new in what you are sharing. If not, it will be a good review. If so I am ready to learn, Either way know I appreciate it a lot and will use it as you describe. I will let you know when I attempt it and let you see my results and maybe get some further instructions on how I can improve on pattern Thanks again Dick heppnerguy.
  17. I first size my pattern on Inkscape then I type individual initials and drag each one where I want to place it on the pattern. After that I print my pattern. It does come with an alphabet you can use if you so desire. It is a fairly easy pattern to cut and it takes with it, a lot of comfort to the ones that receive it. I have made several and I am getting remarks of gratitude for them years later, most of which I forgot I had even made one for them Dick heppnerguy
  18. The little heart in the middle of the letter adds a lot of interest. Nice project Dick heppnerguy
  19. A really nice addition of the inlaid lizard. It sure adds a lot to what would be a little plain by comparison Dick heppnerguy
  20. Wow that is very nice Dick heppnerguy
  21. I have no idea how you can do this kind of work, but one thing I do know, all of your items that I have seen are very impressive and beautiful Dick heppnerguy
  22. I am open to any advice you may have that will help me as I give pattern making another try. Thank you for offering.. How shall I find those 'short cuts you have in mind? Dick hepppnerguy
  23. Both are done quite nicely. I made the guitar pattern and posted it on my facebook page, several years ago and I sold 3 of them within about 20 minutes of posting. I have been thinking about making another to see the reaction I get this time. Thanks for the reminder and for posting you work for all of us to see Dick heppnerguy
  24. I like the nice job on both pieces. I do not think I have ever seen the font you used on the sign. Do you remember the name of the font? I would really like to take a look at it Dick heppnerguy
  25. nice pattern and a good memory for all Americans to observe Dick heppnerguy
