  1. Thank you all very much for the compliments.
  2. I just made up a batch. I used it on my church pattern. I really, really, like this finish. A soft, rich luster. Thanks for the recipe. I did however, cut the recipe in half. I'm sure this batch will last me quite awhile. It was taking forever to shred the wax with a cheese grater, so I used a utility knife. Much quicker. Just an FYI, for anyone interested in making this recipe
  3. A while back I asked if anyone could make me a pattern for this church, which had a fire and word has it, will be demolished. Grampa Paul, from across the pond, was able to make the pattern. It was one of the most difficult pieces I've done. But, like a lot of you advised, I did it "one cut at a time". I made it for my boss, who is going to give it to his Grandpa (who I know very well). My boss wanted to pay me for it. I told him the smile on his face was more valuable to me than any amount of money. I'd love to see the look one his Grandpa's face. A vey sincere thank you to Grampa Paul for making the pattern for me. Because of your generosity, an old man, in a small town, halfway around the world, will be smiling. I hope I did your your pattern well. Gonzo.

    Very impressive!
  5. All of you are funny. Thanks for the morning laugh. Love the HF comment.
  6. Neat idea. Will have to go uptown to hardware store this morning and get a few of those fasteners.
  7. If that doesn't put a smile on your face, nothing will. Nice job!
  8. Very beautiful cross.
  9. I've been thinking of asking what you all think about the clamps. Sounds like it's well worth it.
  10. Neat clocks!
  11. Wow! That is really neat project! Good luck at the fair, I think you'll do well. Let us know how you faired. (Pun intended.)
  12. I too really like the love birds. Simple, yet elegant. Where'd you get the pattern?
  13. Wow is right!!
  14. Interesting jig ya got there Scrappile. I like it. Did you make it? And my apologies Rockytime for hi-jacking your thread.
  15. A very interesting thread. I too would like to make accurate angle cuts. And reading this thread got me thinking. So I started looking yesterday. My DeWalt mitre saw is awesome, but not for smaller pieces. I did find a mitre box from Lee Valley, it's a Nobex. Looks real nice. Went on Craigslist, found one locally, pondered buying, decided to go for it. It was sold! Bummer! Oh well, will have to buy new.
  16. Love the tissue box. Maybe, just maybe, bring the clock to your local golf club and do a little bartering perhaps?
  17. Very impressive Dave! Thanks Ray for posting this.
  18. Looks nice. Did the light come with the saw?
  19. Looks great! What size/type blade did you use?
  20. Truly made me laugh out loud
