  1. I'm Gonzo, I'm the one in my avatar. I entertain people. Hopefully they will laugh, smile, or even forget about their troubles, if even for a very short time. I'm very proud of my profession AND my character. Quite a few people call me Gonzo when I'm not in costume. I just happen to be a clown that does woodworking. Gonzo came about because of Gonzo on the Muppets Show. He's my favorite character. According to him, there's only one of his type in this world. Very unique indeed! or you can just call me... "Tim". Oh wait that's from Monty Python and The Holy Grail. Now I'm really confused. Gonzo PS i personally like seeing the nicknames. It's fun to see what people come up with. A lot of them are very original. Kind of like back in the day when everyone had a CB and they used "Handle's" and not their real name. "The purpose of fun is to have it". Anonymous. (I think I'll put that in my tag line)
  2. 3M 77 here also. Haven't tried the 45
  3. Bottom feeder here also. Really like Scrappiles idea of grinding the top.
  4. I agree with tomsteve about the Alder. Poplar and red oak are right up there also. But walnut is my favorite to scroll and also to turn.
  5. That is a very beautiful box Dave! Thank you for sharing.
  6. Ranger Jay, Keep us posted as to what you think of your new tool
  7. Thanks for having the challenges Travis. Always fun to see what people have to offer. And who doesn't like a challenge?
  8. That sure is a neat idea. And one has to be careful to use a solid core ball. some of them have a liquid middle and shoots all over the place when you drill into them. Quite the mess when that happens. (Big smile)
  9. Very nice! I too am a big fan of the show. (Funny response Iggy)
  10. I really like the Unicorn, but I really really like the elephant. I'm gonna have to jump over to your site and check em out.
  11. Nice frames everyone.
  12. I have a nephew who is an Industrial Arts teacher, and an excellent craftsman if I may add. Many times I have asked him about ways to finish a project. He has replied with various ways, i.e. Tung oil, Danish oil, BLO, etc, and when I tell him that takes too long, his reply has always been, "How long did it take you to make the project? Why rush the finishing end when you took all that time to make your project." Keeping that in mind, most of my projects do take a long time, but man, is it worth it. P.S. I'm curious as to how many of us have ruined a project, because of rushing the finish. I know I have.
  13. Thanks for asking the question Susan, I've struggles with the conundrum myself. Great answers from all!
  14. I make my own out of 220 grit sandpaper. I use my dull Pegas MG blades to cut the slits. Yes, it takes awhile to make them but it's much cheaper. I've also made my own scotchbrite balls. They are actually very easy to make and can be made much more quickly.
  15. Very, very impressive. It's on my bucket list.
  16. I can't an't see it either, nice save! Beautiful piece by the way.
  17. That is really cool Paul!
