  1. Tung oil or Danish oil, a couple coats of either. Then hand buffed. I also like spray shellac.
  2. Ditto what Dan said
  3. I go back and forth between Pegas and FD. When cutting something "critical", it seems my go to blade is Pegas MG #5 and #3.
  4. MG blades are my go to blade also. And I agree about the service from D&D.
  5. Happy Birthday Kevin! Being a clown, birthdays are the best of all days. Enjoy your EX-21, its a wonderful machine.
  6. Nice work!
  7. Fantastic job!
  8. I have to agree with everyone. Beautiful work! I too would like to give inlay a try.

    Bowl

Nice job! I just love scroll saw bowls. I think they are one of the most difficult things to make and have them end up looking good. Ive turned quite a few bowls and I think turning a bowl,is a breeze compared to scrolling one.
  10. Very cool! And different!
  11. Great post Chunk. I agree that this is a great forum. I used to belong to a railroad forum where a lot of "flaming" was the norm. I don't even bother going there anymore. I also check out the Village almost every day, however it's rare that I give my two cents, mainly cuz someone has already said what I was thinking. (Which is kind of scary in and of itself. Big smile). I have learned a lot from all of you, thank you. Again, great post Chunk
  12. This is what I am thankful for. I'm the luckiest SOB in the world when it comes to family. A Steve Good pattern. Poplar with Minwax Wipe-on Poly.
  13. WOW!!! That is awesome! Thanks for sharing
  14. Looks great! The quote made me smile, big time. Thank you!
  15. Wow! That is awesome. Very cool!
  16. Though I'm not a huge fan of Wipe-on Poly by Minwax, it may be worth trying. Very easy to work with, especially on fret work. Use a sponge brush to apply it liberally, work it into the wood with a rag, let it set for a few hours, do a light sanding and repeat the process. Boom, it's done If I'm doing a project in pine or Baltic birch plywood, I use spray shellac. If I'm making something out of walnut, alder, maple, etc, I use Danish oil. Yes, it takes longer. A LOT longer. But that's okay, because to me, after applying a coat of Danish, letting it sit a few days and again repeating the process a few times, I end up with a piece that has a very deep and rich luster.
  17. My suggestion would be to hook up a remote to the Fein and leave it running. Works pretty slick.
  18. I do mostly fret work and my main samding tool is a sanding mop.
  19. I still read the newspaper the old fashioned way. Magazines also. I've tried reading the paper and magazines on my iPad, but I kept getting a smudge in the upper right corner from me licking my finger and trying to turn the page.
  20. I buy mine from DnD also. Can't remember the gentlemans name (starts with a D, haha)but he was awesome. Great customer service. I ordered a batch of MG blades from him awhile back. I was having trouble with the blades and called him and told him about my problems. He asked me to send him the blades I was having trouble with and that he would take care of it. Two days later I received in the mail a whole new set of blades. Basically, a duplicate of my order. Plus, I was contacted by Pegas US distibutor. Oh, and one other plus. When you call DnD you get a human, not 30 kajillion prompts. Forgive me for being long winded, but, when I get great service like I have from DnD, I like to tell people.
  21. Thank you all very much for your replys. I'll give the blue Loctite a try.
  22. What is the purpose of the set screws on the left side of the blade holder on the EX's? should they be flush, or should they be a bit proud. I back them out, and then I put a feeler gauge in the blade holder and tighten the right set screw, both top and bottom. I then snug the left side screws. So to me, that begs the question of why even have them.
  23. I'm with you Mrs N. I can't figure out what I want to do next. I just finished up "The Last Supper". (I might have to post it in bragging rights). I also might start on Chrismas projects.
  24. I agree with Tonylumps, you got one heck of a deal. Congrats. Rumor has it the older style is a much better unit. I have had my Turbo 1 for almost a year. Every so often, I empty the filter bag, and blow it off with air hose. Good as new. Keep an eye on it though, because you'll be amazed at how quickly the bag fills. I use my vacuum mainly on my Scrollsaw and bandsaw . My hook up is very simple. I took a card board tube and strapped it underneath where the original dust port was (I have an EX21). I just shove the hose into the tube and away I go. You will really like your new machine.
  25. I have the Fein Turbo 1. Very very quiet. I use it mainly on my scroll saw. It is so quiet, I can hear the wood being cut while it is on. It was money well spent.
