  1. Very nice! I bet the glue up is more difficult than the cutting.
  2. That is really cool!
  3. Using that type of measuring device, are the 3 fingers vertical, or horizontal? (Big smile)
  4. Jim Beam (Black label), together with a frosty mug of Hamm's. Oh, and my iPad to go with them each evening. Loved the comment about the "mouthwash", Scrappile . Made me laugh.
  5. I imagine the alcohol would have to be gin or vodka. Bourbon, brandy, or scotch would discolor the shellac. Unless of course, one would want to tint the shellac. Hmmmm. Too bad it's only 9:30 AM here, otherwise I'd have me a shot and ponder clear or brown alcohol.
  6. Nice ornaments. Denny, what is your ratio of diluting your shellac?
  7. Very nice!
  8. I agree with Ray, I don't think it's your imagination.
  9. I've had my Pegas clamps on my EX -21 for a couple of months. Nothing was wrong with original clamps, but Denny had the Pegas on sale so I thought what the hell, why not. Was money well spent.
  10. Damn carp! Thanks for the early morning smile.
  11. Amen to that one!
  12. Big big smile. That is really cool!
  13. Thanks Rolf! I'll be ordering it today
  14. Yes he was! If I can say that. He was quite the craftsman. I'm. Not sure if you're familiar with the "Hidden Forest" intarsia piece, but he did make that and in my opinion that was the Crown Jewel of all his projects. Maybe I'll take a picture of it and post it. (Can ya tell I'm a very proud son? )
  15. Thank you. With the frame its 21 x17. He also made the frame.
  16. Anyone in the Village know who the designer is of this intarsia piece? And where I can get it? My Dad made it many years ago, and it's one of my favorites.
  17. Ray, woodengear-clocks.com has some really cool clocks to build. I spent one winter cutting and assembling the Ascent clock. Unfortunately, it doesn't work, but still was/is an awesome project. However, I have every intention of re-making it. Also, Jeff is really good to work with.
  18. Patience. Patience. Patience. Slowwww down. I still struggle with that. When it comes time to putting a finish on your project, slow down even more. We spend so much time on our projects, why rush the finishing end. Experiment with different finishes. Before applying the finish, spritz your project with mineral spirits, it will expose sanding marks that you otherwise wouldn't see. Use a sponge moistened with mineral spirits to remove pattern. When stack cutting, use hot glue along the sides. work from the center of the pattern to the outside. I think it was Scrappile who mentioned to relax, breathe normal, and drop your shoulders. So true it bears repeating. Try intarsia, try inlay, try portraits, try fretwork, Enjoy yourself, and have fun, it is quite the rush when you finish a project and say "wow, I made that".
  19. Love it!
  20. Pegas #5 MGT.
  21. It depends on how big of an area. I have a 3 stall detached garage, uninsulated. I have a Mr Heater 35,000-60,000 Btu heater. I can, key word is can, do all my woodworking in there. The thing that I worry about is ventilation. If I run the heater for a couple of hours, I can still smell the fumes 2-3 days later. The heater is darn near brand new, I've run maybe 60 gallons of propane through it. Again, the shop is uninsulated, plus it's 50 years old, and has more holes than a whiffle ball. Anyways, be careful of the ventilation.
  22. Great work Kris!
  23. That looks really nice! And congrats on the big 50. Just on this page alone there are 6 that have reached the 50 mark or very close to it. Congrats to you all! Like Scrollingforsanity, I too, have 16 years to reach that milestone.
  24. Wow! Awesome!
  25. I ordered the Pegas clamps from Denny at Art Crafters the same time I bought blades from him. (He is here on the forums). That was back before Thanksgiving. I just put them on this past week. What a difference! Much smoother, less vibration. I will be purchasing another set of clamps for my other EX-21 from Denny come Spring time. In a nut shell, if you can afford it, go for it!
