  1. Ha! Your wife a quilter??!! Hell no I don't, not even close! Ohh, ahhh it hurts to laugh!!
  2. Good idea!
  3. This morning as I'm sitting around convalescing from falling off a ladder I had set up in my little dump trailer (that dumped when it should not have) so I could trim some tall shrubs.... I know stupid is as stupid does... I started looking through the Village Pattern Library. Just for something to do, not looking for anything in particular. I have got to say, there are hundreds of great patterns in there. If you like to do fretwork pictures,,,, do not over look the pattern library. From simple to very detailed,, they are there. I really didn't get very far, it would take hours to go through all of the patterns. And, I who will never have time to do all the patterns I already have (I will not say it out loud, but I have more scroll saw patterns than my wife has quilt pattern!!). But I found several that I just had to down load and I just know I will do them someday. There had better be scroll saws in Heaven,,,, ya, I'll see you there, I plan on going to Heaven, and I will finish all my patterns..... Just saying there are great pattern there, and I know I forget to look... There where/are some very talented, generous, pattern maker residing in The Village. I really appreciate them.
  4. I'm pretty sure the PVC would work, at least for the pieces going down the side for the handles to slide into..... Maybe for handles also, most the weight is on the wheels. You have to remember, I am soooooooo old, I don't think PVC was invented yet!
  5. I did this for part of the background I did on two of my pieces. I picked out the flags I wanted to us from image search on the internet. I printed them on plain printer paper, than sprayed them with some Krylon clear coat. When I got them cut as I needed to show where I wanted them to I us spray adhesive and attached them to the backer where they needed to be.
  6. Congratulations! You deserve to be proud. Nice pieces.
  7. @octoolguy something you might consider adding to your stand. My first tablesaw was a Sears contractor saw. 1970 vintage, still in use by my son-in-law. I put some wheels on the back that I borrowed from one of my kid's little wagons, and I attached some pipe on each side of the saw down where it attached to the stand. Then I had two smaller in diameter pipes that I could slip into those pipes and have handles so I could lift the front of the saw up and wheel the saw around like a wheel barrow. When not using the pipe handles, they would sit nicely stored on the pipe I slipped them into when needed. Still is set up that way today and wheeled around that way.
  8. The only saw I have mounted on a factory stand is my Hegner. The rest have been on stands I built using old cabinets I had gathered. The one I had my Ex on and now my Seyco, is narrow enough that I can straddle it, but there is a drawer and shelves in it for storage. I have never really convinced myself that you have to buy "Their" stand because it is specifically made to reduce vibration. I won't argue it because I have never done any comparing and maybe ignorance is bliss on my part.
  9. You are not inventing anything new! We all do these things sometimes. The trick is after you do it few times you will know exactly what the problem is by the symptoms you are experiencing. I've it many time, plus put then in backwards, teeth facing the rear of the saw.... Heck, just yesterday, I put the chain on my chainsaw backwards!! Glad I was using an old chain, not good for the chain or the bar... and doesn't cut at all!!
  10. This is a place in the US that distributes them and where I purchased mine from: http://woodyoubelieveshop.blogspot.com/p/patterns-on-cd.html and these are ones sold that were designed by a past member. I think a family member is handling the selling of them: No pyramids here but there are Schwibbogens. http://schwibbogenbyhelmut.weebly.com/store/c1/Featured_Products.html
  11. Welcome, and congrats on the new saw. I think you will love it. I would also not be surprised it TN is not one of the most represented states on this forum. Seems like there are quite a few members from there.
  12. Thanks, now I admire your work even more. You had to do some real experimenting and practice to figure this all out. This is really awesome stuff.
  13. I like. But I have a question, there is no doubt you are a very talented painter. But is any part of the picture done with a scroll saw? Doesn't matter either way, I still love seeing your work. I just curious, hope you don't get offended, certainly not my intent. Do you cut the pieces, paint then and then put them in the picture? Your talents you show us are so unique, and artistic. I know you say you use rattle can spray paint, least I think I read that once. I don't know how you could do such precise painting that way... do you save the marbles?
  14. Me too @heppnerguy,,, had to look it up, it is cheese.
  15. Actually I don't mind the ear protectors so much. I don't think the noise from the saw and dust collector setup are going to hurt what hearing I have left, but wearing them cuts out background noise,,,,, wife,,,,, ah,,, makes it real quiet and I can focus more one the scrolling.... help me get in the "zone". I don't wear a mask either. I have good dust collection, and with a beard the masks probably would do much good anyway. You can get something like the Resp-O-Rator. They are excellent for dust and you will not fog your glasses. It has a mouth piece like a snorkle. The little one pictured would work fine for scroll saw. There is a bigger one with two filter that I use for when sanding with hand sander and such. I actually have both models.
  16. Really two nice pieces. Great job cutting them.
  17. Glad you joined us. Looking forward to get to know you and see some of you work.

  21. Nice cutting, Dick.
  22. That is a great chess set. You have really done a proud job. Like you I am not much of a player, but I love chess sets. I have been collecting patterns for a long time, maybe someday I will actually cut one!
