    I think it matters when doing a angle cut (blade at an angle other than 90 deg). I have most always had the fence on the right the miter gauge I use on the left.

    Let me be early on this one, because I was just taking to a guy about it yesterday. I may have showed this here before,,, but can't remember. This a pen I made for a Halloween pen making contest several years ago. I did use a scroll saw to make it. The black is strips of cut PVC Drain, Waste, Vent pipe. I cut and glued three strips together, to make a thicker piece and scrolled the little bats in to the piece. Glued three more pieces and scrolled some more bats. Doing it that way made it so there are bats on both sides of the pen. I filled the bats with epoxy mixed with red paint. When that dried I glued to two halves together to make the pen blank. I then mounted the blank on the lathe and turned the pen. I had no idea how it would turn out, but I think it came out pretty neat. One of the funnest to make pens I did. Oh, and it won the contest. Coarse there were only 6 or 7 entries.

    Remember this was back in the day of two lane hi-ways with speed limits of 55 miles per hour. You had plenty of time to look for the signs and to read them as you pasted....

    I have never had a miter saw, would like to but haven't enough need to justify one. I'm curious what is the difference between a miter saw blade and a table saw blade? Different size, different arbor hole size? Different teeth?

    Hopefully they will looking to it and improve. They want to sell their product they need to be informed and take action. I did it with a can of Valspar paint once. I would not dry, was tacky even after sitting week to dry. I notified the company, they called and wanted me to give them the batch number off the can so they could investigate. I thought I probably would hear not more, but a week or so later I got another call, they had investigated and in fact found something wrong with that batch and did a recall. They also refunded my money for the paint. Coarse it didn't make up for the work it took me to remove the paint and repaint. But they acted like they appreciated my input and at least did something.

    You might check the library here. Somewhere there is an article on how to do it in Gimp. It can't be too hard to do because I use to do it. I haven't taken the time to try to figure it out since I got a Mac computer. I liked red lines with gray instead of black for the cut out sections. I bet Bob can tell how. He does a lot of his patterns that color.

    I think I am with most. I like the Freud, I have a Forrest Woodworker blade the cost over twice as much but it does not cut twice as good..... The Freud cuts just as good for me and lasts just as long. So I pick the red one.

    I gave my mat away, but I have an auxiliary table made of masonite on top of the original table so I can use zero clearance inserts. The original table has a rectangle hole in it towards the center, hence the magnetic mat to cover it. The hole give some clearance for some hardware that sticks up when the table is tilted. It sticks up even with the table top. I put washers under the table where the bolts for through to fasten the top to the frame. This raises the table just a hair so there is no problem of the hardware sticking above the table top. The hole concept was to lower the table enough that there 2" cutting thickness or something like that. I don't care If I only have 1 7/8" or so. I wish they would have not had the hole.
