Hummm, don't know if I can explain this in type but I will try. When I put the blade in the top clamp, and I put it into the top clamp first (Were talking new blade or changing a blade), I hold the blade in my left hand between my index finger and thumb. I slip it in at the correct height so only that amount is sticking above my index/thumb. That is how I hold it at the correct height, my index finger is at the bottom of the clamp while I tighten the thumb screw... I them put the blade into the bottom clamp. That make any sense?
I just don't get it. I do detailed fret work mostly, some pieces with several hundred cuts, and I have done it with Excalibur and Seyco (same clamps) and the only thing I have had to do with champs is, on the Ex, I wore out the tension lever on the clamp. I replace it. I just do not see the problem with the OEM clamps. Maybe if I could try some Pegas clamps I would see it. Maybe I need to get a set just to see what all the fuss is about....
Great cuttings. The Indian motorcycle reminds me of the my Uncle. He had one back in the late '40's early '50's. It was a big heavy thing. He also had a side car he could attach and he would take us kids for rides in it. We somehow knocked his motorcycle over once,,,, took every kid in the neighborhood and a couple of moms to get it back upright.
Well, this is hard... To each his own... I have had Craftsman, DeWalt, Excalibur, Hegner and Seyco. I can only say of these saws, if I could only have one,,, Hegner would be it.. Excalibur second and Seyco third, only because I like the head tilting on the Excalibur a little better than the Seyco... I can not speak for the Hawk. I would really love to get one to try. Maybe one of these days I will.
It is really a lioness. And it is a great piece. I like the frame. Makes me think of African costumes. They wear lots of color. No matter the color. Is that pattern available? I have never seen it.
@wombatie (Marg), should make on the shape of Australia, with a Kangaroo in it. That would be neat.
The pin chuck I purchased just wasn't that good, had some wobble. I chucked that chuck..... in the garbage. I think John's idea would work great. My Jet drill press is a big one like 17" and the chuck closes all the way. The smaller drill press I use to use didn't.
Congratulations! If the Excaliburs of today, are as good as past you will be very pleased. Of the saws I have owned the Excalibur was my second favorite. Second only because me and my Hegner are getting along so well now, and I don't have an Excalibur anymore. I think you made a great choice.

If you are talking about the entry under your user name to the left or your post, such as, "Scroller", "Zen Scroller", etc., that is related to the number of posts you have made or you can go to you setting and change it to whatever you like.
Or,,,,,what are you talking about?
My wife tells me I've lost my hearing also,,, under my breath I answer, I have not lost my hearing, after 51 years of marriage I have gained, selective hearing....
I love my Fein. They do have a HEPA filter for it. It is only $104! The noise of the air sucking into my PVC pipe is what annoys me most... fact it might be louder than the vac. Don't know how that could be fixed. That aside, I am very happy with my setup. I use it on two saws, just switch the hose, but with a little effort I could fix to where I just turn a 1/4 turn value or two to switch back and forth.
Welcome to the forum. Very glad to have you join us.
The only scroll saw magazine I currently know of in the US is ScrollSaw Woodworking and Crafts. You can look at what is in the current issue at their website and that may give you some idea of the type of content. It they would make them digital, so you could receive your copy via internet, it would be more convenient and I think they would get a great amount of subscription from other English speaking countries.... There must be reason why they don't do it.
Seems to me there is also a magazine published in Germany. Do you read German? I know I saw their site once, don't know if they are still in business.
The G-4 is the one I think I would want. Solely based on forum discussions with other Hawk owners. I seldom see them in my end of the country. I missed out on one about a year ago. I think it was about double the price you said you paid for your!
Congrats on yours,,, please let us know how you like it after some use.
There are free places, like Craigslist, Offerup and I think facebook has some avenues for selling not sure, I do not do facebook. But at least you may sell some, and you are not investing any money.
I will add, I tried Craigslist and got what I expected,,, nothing. But the type of scrolling I do is very hard to sell in my area. I do pictures and they do not fit the decor of most homes. But other things, like the ornaments, puzzles, toys, etc. might do okay.
Well, she is not new to wood working, or if she is,,, WOW. WOW anyway, that is a great job. If my wife came in my wood shop and did that,,,, I'd go in her quilting room and,,,, well,,, cry!
Boy, I would be skeptical about real candles in those. I like Wayne's idea lot the flickering LEDs. Please post picture of yours when you finish them. I love Schwibbogens. Have made one and have patterns for many more.
