Never thought of that. Good idea, it needs maintenance like any bearing I guess. Also remember, what goes up, can come down. I say this because I had a couple time where I raised mine started to move my piece of wood and the arm came down. It never hurt anything other than give me a scare, but I have been afraid it might happen and break a fragile piece of fret work. So I had a block of wood with a handle on it, left over from my days with a DeWalt saw and I always just slipped it under the arm just to be safe when working on fragile items.
