  1. You are correct, Melanie, there are a lot of options out there on the internet. I also checked on the one on my drill press, which I never use, but it looks like it would very difficult to remove. Not sure why this intrigues me, like I stated earlier in the thread, I am a bottom feeder (carp). That is just what I am.
  2. Some very impressive projects. Thanks for posting them.
  3. Len, try again, it didn't show up for me on first try, but did on the second try.
  4. A very thin bead of glue, like Tidebond, clamp, wait about 20 minutes, unclamp, clean up squeeze out with scrapper, like X-acto knife, re clamp.
  5. Peter, you are a genius!!!! Darn Aussies, they know how to do things!!
  6. Great idea and they turned out real neat.
  7. Ha, posted twice. I responded twice, the second time I was wondering where my first response went. Shouldn't to that to an old man.
  8. That is why CA glue was invented.
  9. Great job on both. The eyes on that Sheppard really show expression. The Old Man and the Sea, Great picture and a great book.
  10. You might call "The Art Factory" and ask about it. I think Mrs Boelman is still involved it not running the business.
  11. Peter, that is one fine idea. I'm thinking you should come up with a commercial one and sell it as an accessory for scroll saws. Can you tell us more? Where did you get the laser light? On the new Seyco saw it would be cool to have one that you could remove the angle gauge that comes with the saw and insert a laser light. Them you could swap the angle gauge and the laser as needed. Yo should at least send the idea to Seyco.
  12. Some mighty fine work. Loved the book. Great picture.
  13. Brady, occupation "Navy".  Thank you for your service and glad to have you in the village.  Are you stationed in Bremeteron? My son retired from the Navy two years ago.  He was a F-18 pilot.  Call sign Spool.  Name Cmdr. Brian Douglass.  I know the Navy is big, but just thought there is a possibility at some point your paths may have crossed.

Not a whole lot of scrollers in the North West.  A military scroller is even more unusual.   Something to do with moving every few years probably.

Anyway, I thought I'd say hi, I feel like Navy is family after following my son's career for 23 years.  I was in the Marines, for a hitch.  Did not make a career of it and always kinda regretted not doing so.

Thanks again for your service.  Hope to get more acquainted on the forum as time passes.  If you ever get to the SE side of the state, let me know.  We could have lunch or something.

Oopss,  I looked again at your profile and the map shows Washington DC.  The other Washington!  So you are not in Washington State.  Oh well all I said still applies, although I doubt you ever travel to the SE part of Washington State.  Well if for some reason you do, lunch is still on me.

I am in Bremerton, maybe I screwed up the location. Not sure if I ever ran into your son, I will have to look in my cruise books. Thank you for the warm welcome to the forum.

  14. Dick, didn't anyone tell you, you can not access this forum from Arizona..... sorry..
  15. DW, my thoughts also, Kevin has competition on who can get the most done in the shortest time! Looks very nice.
  16. Frank, thank you for the comment, especially since it is a nice one!! The main thing I want to light up is the ball so I am hoping to put it just behind and to the bottom of the ball. I don't want it too bright either, more or less just a glow. As to blades, I used a variety, some straight some spiral and different sizes of each because of the size cut and thickness of wood. I am really finding that the more scrolling I do the bigger variety of blades I use, dependent on what I am scrolling. one blade does not fit all.
  17. If you do a search on the internet for "scroll saw blade chart" look at images there a lots of charts available. Keep in mind the charts are a good starting point, but only a guide. Preferred blades is pretty much a personal preference. When I first started, I bought some combo packs that various vendors sell. That a least gave me familiarity with different blades and what sizes worked for what I wanted to do. From there I purchased different blades based on what I read on this forum, usually went by what people said, that did the kind of scrolling I was most interested in. Then I just kept narrowing it down as I gained more experience. I prefer Flying Dutchman blades, others prefer Olsen or Pegas. The brands you pick up at a big box store are not good blades, with the exception of Olsen. Some stores sell them. It takes time and practice. Do not be afraid to buy a variety and try each. I am still trying different blades for different things. I purchase the Flying Dutchman blades from "Mike's Workshop" or "The Wooden Teddy Bear". Both are owned and operated by the same people. I'm sure others will mention where they purchase their favorites.
  18. I'm with Hawkeye10 (Don). Must not be in my DNA to top feed. I have tried and tried and to feed a 3/0 blade down through a hole drilled with a #70 bit, going against the direction of the teeth, just does not work for me. Use to bother me, but then I thought do I really care. Bottom feeding is what I am comfortable with. Maybe is like the left or right handed thing, you are born a top or bottom feeder. The yeng and the yang thing.
  19. You did you usual fine cutting on that on. Thanks for letting have a look.
  20. Gordie, I can save you the search for the dragon pattern.  I have it bookmarked.
