  1. I think another big factor in the life of a vacuum is what kind of filter and how often it is cleaned / replaced.
  2. According to Facebook Messenger Alex Fox was last online at 11:00 AM EST today. I take that as a good sign.
  3. I saw this posted by Charles Hand on Facebook about 8:00 AM EST. "I spoke with my friend Alex Fox (scroll saw designer and artist) in the Ukraine yesterday morning and again this morning. So much fear there now as the Russian army is on the outskirts of his town Kherson. For the scroll saw community who might know Alex, your thoughts, support and prayers would be very much appreciated at this time, that he, his family and countrymen stay safe."
  4. By all means take it off BUT DO NOT TOSS IT. Should you have to return it because it dies you will need to put it back on. Some companies void the warranty if you make any changes to the original.
  5. There has been a handful of times that a 30” saw would have been great a 21” model suits me fine. I have actually cut a 30” door topper on a 21” saw using flat blades. It required putting the blade in backwards for a few cuts. Doable but it takes practice.
  6. I used a Dremel on the plunge router attachment for many years with great success but then I found a used radial arm drill and the Dremel has been in the draw ever since.
  7. I agree that the Pegas clamps will work.
  8. The Excalibur 19 is from the early 90’s so they might have a different clamp design. It would help if you can post pictures of your current clamps.
  9. For pattern spraying I made a roughly 24x18 wooden tray. It is 4” deep. I covered the bottom with freezer paper. I only change the paper when it get really nasty like once a year. What is nice is the over spray is sticky so once a get a thin layer on it I can hold it upright to spray. Great for doing small patterns. For paint and spray finish I do that outside on an old patio table.
  10. I believe that Kevin is correct and the Dewalt is made in China. Probably the same factory that makes the Delta.
  11. Time I looked at the pattern. You said that you were using a #3 round blade. I will assume you mean spiral. In my opinion a #3 is too big. Switch to a #1 or #2/0 and that keep fragile areas from breaking. I also agree with the recommendation of taping the cutouts back in for strength.
  12. When do you have time to sleep and eat. I thought I was in the shop a lot and I probably go through 150-200 a year.
  13. There is a salvage yard about 10 miles down the road. The last time I passed by they were paying $8.50USD per 100 pounds of misc scrap. I think that is about 20 lifetimes of scroll saw blades.
  14. When my mother-in-law passed, we had to get construction dumpster to clean her house out We filled it and I mean filled it with empty carboard boxes, cookie tins, aluminum pie tins, balls of string and rubber bands, used gift wrapping, used gift boxes, used plastic tubs/containers (margarine, yogurt, takeout food), etc. Bottomline I toss the wire.
  15. Roberta nailed it. Also slow your drilling speed down. No, not the speed the drill turns but how fast you drill. Many people tend to push the bit through instead of allowing the drill to drill.
  16. I believe it is one puzzle made up of three layers glued together. The top is pentagon with the odd pieces. The bottom is the star. The middle is solid.
  17. Jim, UDAMAN!!! Thanks
  18. Many years ago, I worked for a major company. The name had three letters. I did project management. Anyway 6 hours of actual productive work out of an 8 hours day was what we used to figure labor.
  19. Anyone recognize this pattern and know where it is available?
  20. Great use of different processes and techniques.
  21. UPDATE - Rolf what you are asking about was on the SSWW site. I will message you.
  22. Rolf you do remember correctly. In fact, I purchased one from them. If I remember correctly, it was the scroller's son who had the 3D printer. Let me what I can find.
  23. I have sprayed Danish Oil straight from the can with no issues. Save the mineral spirits to clean the air brush.
  24. Charley welcome back to the land of sawdust.
  25. Besides Rolf, you like gadgets.
