  1. I am as ready as I will ever be. This is normally a very good show for me. Weather forecast for NC tomorrow is for cold and rain. I hope it does not put a damper on things at the Lake Gaston Baptist Holiday Craft Fair.
  2. When do you sleep or do you sleep? Amazing how mucg work you complete. Guess that is why your handle is the Amazing Kevin.
  3. Bill this was posted on the Scrollsaw magazine site yesterday by the publisher. The response was due to a question someone raised who also could not find it locally. I do subscribe and got my copy on the 14th. "It doesn't hit newsstands for a few more days. Subscribers usually get it a couple weeks before it hits newsstands." I have no connections to SSWC magazine or Fox publishing.
  4. Welcome Steve. Always great to welcome a local boy. I live just west of I-95 along the NC/VA border.
  5. Pine does contain a lot of pitch and some areas more then others. I really do not know the style of Olsen blades but some teeth are designed to cut thicker wood. Friction is a blade killer. Try applying clear packing tape to both sides of the wood. It will help keep the wood cool. BTW what part of NC are you from?
  6. Yes plywood tends to dull blades quicker then many hardwoods. If you have real baltic birch all the layers (5 ply for 1/8") are made of baltic birch. If you have birch plywood like from HD or Lowes only God knows what the inner layers are made from.
  7. You consume more wood then a colony of termites.... Kevin what font did you use. I searched on ancestory font and got no hits on the MS site.
  8. Scrimper you are correct.
  9. Gee Kevin you must be living wrong. i got my copy in the mail on the 15th.
  10. That is the prettiest piece of OSB I have seen.
  11. I love it when you can find the perfect piece of wood to match with the perfect pattern. From a book of patterns created by Patrick Speilman and Kerry Shirts. The wood is soft maple mounted to a basswood backer.
  12. Mods if this post is not proper I am sorry. I am just pointing out what I think is a good deal that others might benefit from. IMHO this is really a great deal for scrollers. Fox Chapel Publishing has created a great collection of new holiday patterns. It is 40 pages of a download PDF file and the patterns laid out for printing on any desk top printer. They did a great job. For under $10 it is the best bargain in scroll saw patterns I have seen in a long time. These are all new designs and not reprints from prior issues. http://www.foxchapelpublishing.com/m...ollection-2014 The standard: I have not financial connections to Fox Publishing or any of the designers represented in this.
  13. Might make an interest back drop vs an actual project. My experince is that "stuff" does NOT take finish well.
  14. Went for years (about 10) without a foot pedal on my Dewalt. Though I never had an issue with the switch I decided to try a foot pedal. a couple years back. I kick my self everyday now for not trying it sooner. It makes things so much easier and faster.
  15. Good show Travis. I would like to contribute this go around.
  16. I sent an email to Sloan's. Here is their reply: We haven’t been able to find the 1/8†hardwood plywood lately, sorry. The only thing we have is the 1/8†Baltic Birch. We will have more of the ¼†plywood in stock in about 2 weeks. It was signed by David Sloan.
  17. I really like doing the wide boarder. Love the washer trick. A good variation to this is to cut the backer on a bevel. I like to use 3/8" or 1/2" baltic birch that I stian for this.
  18. Red oak, walnut, and soft maple are my favorites to cut but I let the project dictate the wood I use..
  19. I used to get 1/8" (really 5/32") maple plywood from Sloan's. They no longer carry it on their website. I can get 1/4" maple plywood locally but I want something thinner for ornaments. Anyone have have an on-line source for thin maple plywood?
  20. Fox Chapel also has a SS forum you might want to post your question in. I know there are am number of folks from Upstate. http://www.scrollsawer.com/forum/
  21. Yes CWC will be greatly missed. I have seen on FB that a number of the designers are trying to create a e-zine. Also SSWC is suppose to come out with an e-zine special issue later this month. I think we will be seeing e-zines alot in the future. BTW no connection to any of the enterprises mentioned above.
  22. good one...
  23. Good fix. I am glad it was so simple. I have been in the guts of my 788 before so I know that is no fun. A word of advise that was given to me. Whenever I do open I grease all the bearings and pivot points with synthnetic grease. It really seems to help with noise and vibrations.
  24. Not a Stones fan but you did a great job cutting their images.
  25. Thanks for all the postive comments. It really was a challegene especailly since I am not a designer. The actual pattern was done on paper and not with any software though I did printing of some random images off the internet. I almost gave up on the design but stuck with it. I have heard the plaque sits on a stand in the front room of the lady who was honored. Everyone who enters sees it.
