    Have used most of these methods. Will have to try the toothbrush!!! Don't know if it was mentioned, but I glue a piece of sandpaper to a ceramic tile to achieve some flat sanding!!

    I have made three of the same beginner bowls from Carol's book. Didn't get the drill points sanded out completely, but they are for my own use, so I wasn't to worried. Used a spindle sander and my belt sander on them. I did buy a rounded sanding attachment for the drill press, but wasn't very impressed with it. I think that is more user error than anything!! I have decided that I just don't like cutting bowls lol. However, never say never. Might go back and try some more. I do love the look of them!!!

    Here are a couple of ornaments I did last year. I send my nieces and nephews an ornament every year just to say I am thinking of you.

    Last time I got a call like that I asked for a return number, received it. Then I told them I was going to pass it on to the police. They hung up immediately. Still getting the CRA electronic calls telling me I am going to be arrested!!!

    I'm with you on the "too frustrated" Until I can sit for hours and hours at the computer, I don't learn very well by watching videos or reading the books.

    Thanks for all the kind words -- she really did like it. There is also quite a large Welsh Terrier community - I might be cutting a bunch more of them.

    I knew you had lots of breeds - was pretty sure I had looked there. Clearly I didn't look hard enough Can I also ask a question - how to you wrap your puzzles for sales?

    I have either put it back with the new or I have used painters tape, written the blade description on the tape and taped it to the wall beside my saw.

    I have a friend who has been asking for a Welsh Terrier cutting of some sort. I searched around for a pattern and hadn't found anything. She made a comment about one of my other pieces that made me go Aha!!!!! So here is what I did for her.

    Clearly I am very late to the conversation, but here are my 2 cents worth. I have made a couple of small bowls that I use regularly for popcorn in the evening. I just used Tung Oil on them. They only get rinsed in hot water with a dish cloth to clean. Been a year at least and hubby and I are still around!!!

    Sorry to be so long in getting back, there have been family medical issues. I use just what ever craft paint I have on hand. I think some are the Delta brand. I have used even regular "house" paint.

    If you are wanting to add just a bit of colour there is a process called "dry brushing". Put a bit of paint on a wide brush, then take most of the paint off by brushing on a paper towel, when you think there is no more paint on the brush, take the brush to your wood and lightly brush over the area you want colour on. I hope this makes sense. Another way to look at it is like a lady applying blush makeup to her cheeks - just a very light hand!!

    My dad always tinkered in his shop in the basement. I took "shops" in junior high the first time it was offered for girls back in the mid '70's. Didn't do much after that. Wasn't afraid to try my hand at repairing things in the house. Ended up taking a couple of woodworking classes in the evenings. That was doing "bigger" items. Built some things for around the house - fence!!! My daughters bed & night stand using a book called 2x4 furniture. Could only really do that during the summer and took over the garage. Needed to find something to do in the winter so I found a used Craftsman. It had pinned blades. Didn't do much with it as it wasn't really working well. Really got into it when hubby bought me the Dewalt 788 for Christmas about 4 years ago. For the first year or so, I felt that I went down to the workroom to cut out of obligation. That has changed and now if I don't get down to the workroom weekly I miss it. Guess I am hooked.

    How thick is the wood for the picks. My hubby uses them on certain guitars - he has 14 - 17 (i have lost count), would like to maybe make some for him.

    I didn't know SSV was on FB. That is what I scroll through as I have breakfast. Post pictures there cause it is easier! Usually come here for answers because there is so much wisdom here! When I logged in today to see if there were answers to my "unglue" post, I also noticed the trophies - Thanks to whoever gave them to me. As someone mentioned above - I am not sure I deserve the lend a hand one. Others certainly have more experience than I do.
