    According to the "Ice Patrol" guy, ice isn't expected to clear until mid May. Heading up tomorrow to show our boat and look at another - going for an upgrade.

    Some of the cutting I have done. Have been trying to stack cut with paper between. The paper is getting stuck as the glue softens when cutting. Have to spend time cleaning the paper off. Sometimes it comes away no problem. Other times, not so much. These are my own photos take at Lake of the Woods. 7x5 size 81 pieces. Photo glued to 1/4" ply, finished the back, light spray of finish over the photos. It takes about 2.5 hours to cut using the Niqua 2/0 puzzle blades.

    Both have oops! One of the layers was glued up the wrong way (according to the picture that Steve Good provided)

    Finnaly got them finished! One for my grandson, the other because it was stack cut. My oops, I am calling artistic license!!! Lol

    Welcome to the village. I had problems with my Dewalt earlier. The service center here (Canada) had a flat rate fee of $320 to fix the saw. Got it back, but was unfortunately not repaired. Turns out it was a good thing. After sending it back again, they couldn't figure out what was wrong and replaced it with a brand new machine, warranty and all. Maybe a thought for your Dewalt.

    1/4 Baltic Birch ply, although I am really beginning to question if it is bb or just ply. Therer seems to be a few more patches in it than I thought bb ply should have

    Got these done finally. Stack cut. Took about 2 1/2 hours to cut, using a Pegas #1 MG . High gloss spray paint for the black.

    My Grandson turns one tomorrow. Made this for the cake. I didn't have a wide enough piece of wood, so I glued skewers to the back. Sprayed with a finish called TintIT. It provides a gold shimmer to the wood with a sheer colour. You can spray numerous times to get the tint a little darker. Will definitely be trying for ornaments.

    I was going to ask the same thing. My saw sits on a very unlevel floor, big angle to the drain. I personally just take a protractor from the kids old geometry sets and hold it behind and then beside the blade.

    It's interesting, I was reading a blog about the dewalt 788 and someone having issues about the blade not fitting well. The new one has been a bit of a different fit from the old one but I didn't think much about it until I read the posting. Haven't been on the saw since I read the posting but will take a good look at it next time i am working. It takes a bit more time to place the blade just right.

    I happen to like it. It won't be displayed in our place, just a piece that if and when I go into a show will be for sale!!!

    Had cut this in December. Finally got around to mounting it. Mounted on tongue & groove pine. i was going for a "cottage" look. Hubby isn't so fond of the look - thoughts??? Put spacers behind to raise it. Copper nails to accent. Finish is spray lacquer.

    Had time over the last couple of weekends to get some sawdust made after getting my two new saws. Used the band saw to cut the outside of the triangle puzzles -- so much faster. Still have to do some light sanding and put finishes on all pieces. There was a few more pieces cut, just no photo.

    I purchased the band saw from Precision Grinding. I had looked a Canadian Woodworker, but it would have taken 3 or more months for it to come in. They had just placed an order that had shipped. I did look at Stockroom Supply, they had one in stock but I would have had to pay an extra $70 in shipping. Precision Grinding had an order in at Rikon that hadn't yet shipped so they were able to add the saw. It was quite funny when I went to pick it up. I walked in and said I was there to pick up my saw, the lady at the counter all but shouted - It's the Rikon Lady!!! Service there was great and I discovered a new "toy" store. I haven't set it up yet. Got the scroll saw going. Also bought a portable bench grinder stand that I bolted some wood to and then bolted my combo belt sander to. Looks great and takes up so much less room. Here is what I was doing all afternoon. Today's cutting brought to you by penguins and butterfly. Just have to do some light sanding and finish. If felt like a new saw ----- oh right-----it is!!!!!!!

    Here are my two new toys. Will have to wait for hubby to help unload. I also now have an extra table for the Dewalt!

    Well, Here is the latest update - DeWalt couldn't figure out what was wrong. Apparently replaced the motor again and the control panel and who knows what else. They shipped a new saw. Got a voice mail today that it arrived. I will be picking up tomorrow. It will be an exciting weekend because I also ordered a new bandsaw (Rikon 10-306) which arrived yesterday and I will be picking up tomorrow as well. I am so excited to get both!!!!!

    Thanks for the list/links to the videos. I too have been cutting about 3 years, but it is always good to review the basics.
