Don, what brand and type of blade are you using, and what type and thickness of wood?

Make a stack! Use a scrap piece of 1/4" plywood. Using blue painters tape, tape the edges of the two boards together. The thicker stack will give you better control of your work piece. You can use two or three layers of the same ply, you can make more than one piece at a time. If you don't need multiple copies, than just use scrap ply, then toss it when you are done. I never cut anything thinner than 1/4". If I need thinner, I always make a stack.

Hey Jason, first, take a pencil and lightly shade the parts of the pattern that will be cut out. Doing this before you cut will help you keep track of the waste. As a scroll saw instructor, I teach my students to pick a side of the blade that will be the waste. For me, the waste is always on the right side of the blade. By doing this, you will always know which side of the line is waste and which side is the project.

Yes Len, I understand that, but if the disk was trimmed down, it might not catch. It was just a though. I'm going to give it a try next time I'm ready to sand something.

Hey Dave, I suppose you could trim off the excess with a sharp X-Acto knife. I haven't tried it yet, but I will next time.
