  1. Just finished these today.Haven't posted any new ones in a while, and thought I would finish the year off right. Happy New Year to all!
  2. Get the good stuff. The wood from Lowes and Home depot tends to "chip out".
  3. I think i've got about 40 hours into this cutting and finally finished cutting tonight. Charles Dearing pattern. 3/0 spirals stack cut in 1/8" BB plywood
  4. cut 2 copies. So i'll sell one and keep one. Thanks.
  5. About 10 hours in this one. I'm very happy with.the results.
  6. hanks for all the nice comments. They indeed were on the to do list because of all the holes, I just kept doing a little and putting it aside, probably took 2 months because I couldn't motivate myself.
  7. I finally finished these two. Seems like they've been on the 'pile' for a long time. Lots of cutting especially on the wolf.
  8. Thanks all. Yes I stack cut it out of 1/8" baltic birch plywood 4 layers. I made one each for 3 kids and one to display at shows. I got lucky at a recent garage sale and picked up about 30 frames for $10. I usually have to make my own. This one is 11 x 14. My son designed the pattern, his first attempt(gotta love geeks).
  9. Here's one I did over the weekend for my son who is a big Hobbit and Lord of the rings fan.
  10. In your opinion. Who are the three best scrollers out there and why? I get a ton of information off of here and appreciate everyones input as well as other web sites as well as videos and such, but I'm looking to learn from the best of the best. I'm interested in all venues from fretwork to puzzles to portraits to pattern design. If three is too limiting feel free to add more names.
  11. Just finished cutting this Charles Dearing Pattern on 1/2 oak plywood. I haven't drilled the center yet because I don't have the clock movement yet. Very happy with the way this came out. Everything was scrolled except the smallest outside holes I drilled those out. I used mostly a mod geometry #1, and 2/o, and 3/0 spirals. I used a #5 UR to cut out the outline.
  12. I Love them. Such beautiful work on some really awesome cutting.
  13. Thanks all, the lightning was very tricky. The pattern is available on a number of online sights, it's lightning on the plains. I enjoyed it very much. I've got my work cut out for me now I'm working on a couple of Charles Dearing patterns from the lord of thru rings. Wish me luck.
  14. Finally can use the 3/0 spirals.I finished this today. It needs a frame and a little finishing, but i'm very happy with it.
  15. Thanks all. I really get a lot of inspiration from seeing others work and think boy they had to star somewhere. Keep posting the completed patterns especially the really challenging ones because that's what inspire us newbies to get better. When I first started( one year ago almost to the day) I would never have considered anything like this now I feel like "bring it on'.
  16. I've really stayed away from spirals but lately I've wanted to cut some more intricate patterns and it seems the way to go was spirals. I broke a lot of blades at first but started getting the hang of it. I still can't use 3/0 but my go to blade is a 2/0. Here's a couple I finished recently.
  17. Wow that pattern is " Up In Smoke".
  18. Emery boards are a good cheap alternative as well for getting in the letters, they can be cut length wise with a scissors to fit any size you need. You'll find as you get better you'll sand a lot less.
  19. wonderful job.
  20. I like 1/2 inch oak or cherry.
  21. looks great

  25. Ok. i looked at the set screw and sure enough there was a small burr on surface. So i decided to grind it flat on the grinder. Boy those things fly through the air really well, never to be found again, so now my sawing is on hold until i can get another set screw. LOL.
