Kevin, I started out making 3 of them. I stacked cut them. They sold right away and more people wanted them. I ended up making 20 of them and they all sold in a couple of days. I only charged $15.00 each. I think I should of charged $20.00. People were buying 3 and 4 at a time. It's a lot of work sanding them and trying to get them round. All I did was dip them in mineral oil and it brought out the grain in the BB. Good luck with yours.
Well my friend received his portrait and was amazed and surprised. He couldn't get over the detail on it. I told him we didn't have much to work with but did the best we could. He hung it on his wall.
Steve, I made 20 of those so far. Sold them all for $15.00 each. I think I was to low on my price. So you fine that there's a lot of sanding around the outside. Those rings are hard to get the same.
Just finished this piece today thanks to Don who made the pattern for me. Monti made one for me to but I went with Don with the butterfly. Made out of Oak and Walnut. Thanks again Don for the quick pattern.
Hi everyone, I just finished this piece today from a pattern that Paul (Grampa) made for me. I have to give Paul a lot of credit for making this pattern for me. He didn't have much to work with but somehow he did his magic and came up with this. These pattern makers that we have in here don't get enough credit. Thanks again Paul. I'm sure my friend will love this. He doesn't know I'm making this for him.
So your saying that If I mix my beeswax with mineral together, then apply and buff, I can eliminate dipping my pieces in straight mineral first. I'm confused.,
Thanks Fred. What type of bee's wax do you use. Is it in block form or liquid and how do you apply it. Is it like a paste wax, you put it on and then buff it out.
Hi everyone, just wondering if some of you use Bee's wax for a finish and how do you use it. Right now I dip a lot of things in mineral oil and let it dry and wipe it down good. I think Dan had mentioned that he uses Bee's wax also. Can I put that on mineral oil to give it a little shine.
