    Hello!

    Welcome to the group.
  3. Welcome. Post lots of pics.
  4. Aspen wood is the only wood that has pulled like on me.
  5. Welcome and have fun.
  6. I have to say I was disappointed with the "Winter Edition". I think one would expect a ton of Christmas type projects but with this edition I didn't care for the small amount of what they had. The ornaments were not very appealing (to me) and very limited as far as design. I think the feather (bird) article and a few others were out of place for a Winter Edition. I also feel that fret work has been lacking in the magazine but as others have stated each group (Fret or Intarsia) have their own opinions. I know the Angel fret they show says that the fine lines can be done by saw or wood burning but it just didn't interest me either way. Guess I will go to Sue Mey's site and download some ornaments. I will have to seriously contemplate renewing my subscription.
  7. Military Items (Crosses, ornaments, etc.) Plus anything Nativity related. I do about 6 shows a year all after October and these do the best for me.
  8. They will love it. Good job.
  9. Welcome to the group.
  10. Very Nice.
  11. I've never signed anything but my wife thinks I should.
  12. I'm Jealous. Nice find.
  13. I also try and not go over 3/4 inch. In my experience my blade tends to wander to much if it is much thicker than that.
  14. Practice make perfect. Remember we are always our own worse critic.
  15. Welcome to the group.
  16. Two of my favorite characters of all time. Good job.
  17. I get a lot of my Bass Wood (with the bark edge) there. Works good for fret portraits and such.
  18. Good to have you back.
  19. Got these done this weekend. All Sue Mey designs, well mostly. The first one is a combination of her Fishing and Hunting Crosses I call the Sportsman cross. The 2nd is her Mother Cross but I take the word "Mom" off of it for just an angle cross. The last is her Nature cross. All 3 are out of 3/4 inch Poplar.
  20. Pegas blades just don't work for me. I like the FD Ultra. Lasts twice as long for me at high speed.
  21. I use the widest blue painters tape I can find. I don't mind pulling the tape off, especially on the delicate fret work. My shop dog usually runs around with blue tape on it though.
  22. First rate.
  23. Good job.
  24. Very Sharp. Nice work.
  25. I usually have Poplar and Red Oak on hand at all times. Right now I have some Walnut in stock but for smaller projects. I always look through ebay for deals on Walnut, Purple Heart, Red Cedar or other wood I can't get locally. Occasionally I can find Aspen but it is hard. All of my projects are out of boards so I try to hoard as much as I can when I can.
