  1. I'm actually very happy with the scroll saw using the pinned blades. I have had no problems. Now also keep in mind this is the only scroll saw I have ever used. So what I have done is put the original pieces back on along with a pinned blade and cut out a tree with no problems. So I guess I will keep this scroll saw for the pinned blades......wait for it.......wait for it......I also ordered a Dewalt Scroll Saw off Amazon on Sunday. Hopefully it will be here tomorrow so I can play with it over the weekend. So I will have two scroll saws in case someone wants to play with one. Thanks Jim
  2. So it is a whopping 14 degrees outside so I'm stuck inside thinking. And something just came to mind. When I'm cutting the jigsaw puzzle out with the picture on the front. Will/should I put a clear coat or polyurethane on the back after I cut it out or before I cut it or do I need to worry about it? I will be using Baltic Birch Plywood 1/4". Come on warmer weather. Thanks Jim
  3. I hope your mom starts feeling better soon. Happy New Years to you and your family. Jim
  4. Hi Edward, I cut out about 6 Christmas trees this past weekend. I will probably cut out some stars this coming weekend.
  5. Nice work Ed. I love working with oak. Jim
  6. Hello everyone, so I have been using pinned blades on my 16" H.F. Scroll Saw. I purchased and adapter kit to make it easier to use non pinned blades. http://www.pozsgaidesigns.com/page0006.htm item# 5 - EZ Set Blade Holder System used with 16" Scroll Saws. My question is how do I attach the blade to the adapter? I tried doing the bottom clamp, but it seemed like the blade would either bind or fall right out. Do I screw the hex screw into the saw blade to hold it in place? Will I still have this same problem if I spent the money and got a more expensive scroll saw? Thanks Jim
  7. Congrats Pete! Jim
  8. Thank you for the replies. The area is heated by a electric fireplace. I do keep glues, stains and such inside the house to keep them warm. I normally don't try to stain till it is 45 or higher in the workshop.
  9. I wasn't sure where to put this, so if it needs to be moved please go ahead and move it. So there is snow on the ground and it is cold as all get out outside right now. I do my wood working in 1/4 of a 1 car garage. I am needing to sand and stain pieces in the same area. How would I do this without getting sawdust specks in my stain? During the summer I normally close the garage door and sand outside. But now I would be standing in about 4-5 inches of snow so that isn't possible. Thank you Jim
  10. Thanks for the warm welcome. These are the only things I have made so far. I'm hoping to start working on motorcycle and barrel racing projects after the first of the year. I bought a 16" harbor freight scroll saw. Then bought the 3rd party adapter to where it will be easier to change plain blades. I have purchase some spiral blades that I am really wanting to try. This is one of my race pictures I want to cut my teeth on (so to speak). Thanks Jim
  11. Looks great to me. Jim
  12. Hello everyone, I bought my first scroll saw a few months ago and am having a blast learning this woodworking hobby. I have been photographing motorcycle races for the past 5 years and am thinking about incorporating the two together for the racers to give them something different. I am from Colorado Springs Colorado. Thanks Jim
  13. I feel your pain Larry, did that this last weekend with my sister. She told me I needed to pay her for putting up with me for the entire weekend. Jim Browning
