  1. Wow Roly is on a roll. Great idea.
  2. I have the Dremel Rotary Workstation and love mine. Someday I'm going to get the plunge router. Jim
  3. Hello Len, yes she is a sweetheart and grandpa is totally wrapped around her finger. As far as the thickness of the wood. This was one of those I will it with what I have to see what it looks like. I stack cut two of these on 1/4" plywood. I gave it to her to handle to see if it was too big or small. She seemed to be able to handle it very well (She is only 10 months). Funny thing is that the only times she dropped was when she was looking at me and she would slowly open her hand and let it fall to the floor saying "oh oh" . So the next pair I make I'm going to use 1/2" Maple or I will get a sheet that is 3/4" and split it down the center, even though I'm afraid of doing that it will be about the same thickness as the 1/4". Hope that isn't too confusing. I haven't had my first cup of coffee yet. Thank you for all the replies. Today's docket includes cutting a sleigh and 9 reindeer out of 3/4" oak plywood on the front driveway driving the neighbors crazy. Thanks Jim
  4. Thanks everyone, yeah I think she is a cutie pie and has her mom and dad sense of humor to.
  5. Great looking plaques. I really like the finish on them.
  6. My granddaughter Aubrey came by and saw me for a few minutes today. I have been working on making little rocking horses that little kids could hold easily. So I thought I would try it out on her. Of course she dropped it just before I took the picture. The rocking horse is roughly 6"x6". I am going to look for some maple 1/4" and see how that turns out. Thanks Jim
  7. I'm all ears.....I haven't bought a new tool since Sunday. I think I'm due. Jim
  8. No I don't have a jointer, just a biscuit joiner. No this isn't a stand up puzzle, it is one that lays down. So would I just glue the sides together and clamp them together for overnight? Of course cleaning them both and making sure they fit together well. Jim
  9. So I am looking at doing a puzzle that will be roughly 8.75"x8.75" and 1/2" thick. I am wanting to do this on Padauk. I am not seeing any Padauk that is that wide. How would I go about making one that large? Put two 5"x5" boards together? And if so would I use biscuits and a joiner and glue? I am afraid 1/2" thick isn't thick enough to biscuit and joiner it together. But please tell me if I'm incorrect. Thanks Jim
  10. Thank you all for the replies. I live in the basement that has hardwood floors. And it has been pretty dad gummed cold here this winter and was wondering about moving the saw into the basement with me. With using the fan blowing, does it blow away from the saw kind of acting as a suction? I also have asthma and am always wearing a mask when using any of the power tools. So I'm not sure if having the saw in the basement would be such a great idea or not. Thanks Jim
  11. I was having a hard time drilling pilot holes but didn't have the funds to get a drill press. I already had a Dremel 280 from years again and went today to Lowes and picked up the Dremel Rotary Workstation. I think it is working great for what it is. I drilled pilot holes in 1/8" to 1/2" birch with no problems at all. This is pretty great to me. Like I said, it isn't for hard words of anything over 1/2" but since 1/2" is the thickest boards I have been working with on the scroll saw. Lowe had it online and in store for $38.23. Thanks Jim
  12. So if you do use your scroll saw in the house, where do you use it and how do you keep the dust (or at least the majority of it) out of the air? Jim
  13. Mine is in the garage, but my nice sister is going to put up a 16'x20' insulated storage shed with a porch for me this April-May time frame. I'm thinking she is just wanting to be able to get her car into the garage again. Jim
  14. Congratulations Dave, I'm sure you are going to make great things.
  15. Congrats Dan. Jim
  16. Congrats Scott. Now it's time to get some sawdust on that beauty. Jim
  17. Thanks, I will check out gimp tonight and see what I can find. Jim
  18. Thanks Dan, that would be the explanation of why I haven't seen or heard anyone talking about stack cutting a jigsaw puzzle. Which makes sense now. Thanks Jim
  19. I started about September of 2015. So I'm pretty wet behind the ears still, that explains all the questions. Jim
  20. So I have found the next jigsaw puzzle project I will be starting this week. It will be 11x17 in size and contain 300 pieces. I am wondering if there is a particular blade I should get to cut this one out with? I am planning on cutting it out on 1/4" plywood or solid wood (whichever I can find). 2nd question, has anyone tried stack cutting (cutting 2 at one time) jigsaw puzzles if they are planning on trying to sell them at craft shows? 3rd question, is there a place I can find (free to use) puzzle templates that I can make into different sizes and different amount of pieces? 4th question, how did you start cutting your puzzles freehand? What are the things to remember and keep in mind? 5th question, I am thinking to sell these puzzles and a wooden box to keep them in. What are your thoughts? Thanks Jim
  21. I have always use my Epson 1400 to print my motorcycle racing pictures and have always been happy with the results. Jim
  22. Nice job Dan. If I needed a new miter saw, I think I would go out and get one of those Ridgids. Jim
  23. I just have a regular old wooden stool. I'm wanting to get one higher and with a foot rest. I have this crazy notion of trying to go to a farmers market this summer with my scroll saw and do little demo's with some of my stuff out for sale. Jim
  24. Thanks Dan, I'm the photographer. Jim
  25. I'm not really sure. I was hoping someone would give me some suggestions on that. I know the last picture measures out at 16"x37".
