  1. Paul you did a great job on Fiona's pattern. I know what I am talking about because I am, right now, attempting to cut it out of 3cm thick Spalted Maple and it's a real effort. I very much approve your intention to back it with glass. That's also what I intend to do. In the past, I have backed a few of Fiona's patterns with glass and they look great. I'm attaching a photo of one of them:
  2. You did a great job on everything. You asked about the designer of the trivet pattern. It looks to me like a Fiona Kingdon creation. Am I correct?
  3. A great job on a great pattern! Is the pattern yours? If not, where did you obtain it?
  4. You did honour to that beautiful wood!
  5. Everything, including the frame, is unique and outstanding!
  6. I noticed that but thought it was a unique regional spelling.
  7. Today is Remembrance Day on many parts of the world, so I am giving this a bump.
  8. That seems very appropriate for where you are Frank. Well done! I don't know much about Florida, but aren't all the seasons kind of the same?
  9. I thank Rich (goldfish) and Don (don in brooklin) for the elements that I utilized in the pattern that I cobbled together for this. It has temporarily replaced the seasonal rotating Welcome sign on our front door and will stay there until after Remembrance Day on November 11th. I dedicate this to Tip Pellow (my father) and Elmer Pellow (my uncle). They were both in the Canadian army in WWII and, between the two, fought in Italy, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Germany. Both of them survived the war but it took a tremendous toll and neither lived to old age. Both the foreground and background are Baltic Birch plywood. I painted the wreath attempting to give it and old and weathered look. Here is one photo of the door with one of its typical Welcome signs and another photo with the new wreath.
  10. It's quite unique and moving.
  11. I very much prefer the Trump item that I cut a couple of years ago: Just in case you think that this violates our rules here, I believe that it does not because Travis told me that a similar sentiment that I presented him with, namely 'Vote Trudeau Out' was OK.
  12. I like the way that you did this. I've been asked to create a wide but narrow stained glass piece to go into the high-up window in a friend's bathroom and I am thinking that what you did here, only with a turquoise glass backing, might be more appealing than the traditional stained glass that I was planning to make. If I decide to proceed with this, where can I obtain that patterns that you used?
  13. The stack cutting is working well: I thanks you again for the suggestion Don.
  14. I like it and, before I even saw you words about the Chrysler Airflow, I was reminded of my Dad's 1936 Chrysler that was still running well when it was sold in 1960. Sometimes I wonder if it is still running and I like to think that it is.
  15. I have now actually completed the first three of these. Here is a photo: I found some smaller white dots to use rather than the large black ones that were on the prototype. The loops have been crocheted from white wool. I'm going to try to find matching blue wool for the ornaments not yet cut. I thought about painting or dyeing these Christmas colours but decided to go with the natural wood for the bear and the blue for the mask.
  16. I noticed the changes right away. I don't see that the way the forum is now is any better of any worse. This sort of change is inevitable and, over the long haul, I believe the changes improve a "product". Thanks Travis! By the way, when I was quite young we had no electricity and our toilet was an outhouse. So, you see, I have benefitted from change.
  17. Thanks for the tip Don. I had not tried that but I will. I'm making them out of 6mm thick ply so will not try to stack 4 of them, but I will try to stack cut 3.
  18. OK, I now have a LOT of these in the pipeline.
  19. That is the way that the Pegas replacement clamps for my Excalibur work, so I expect that's how their saw works. But, the important thing to me is that Pegas has made their clamps work better.
  20. That's a good tip Bill and I will ty it. I, too, mostly use 2/0 spiral and, since they are so fragile, don't take well to hammering.
  21. Margaret is my wife. She got to "test" and approve (or not) the prototype.
  22. Seeing those photos of the wires, I am even more impressed (and intimidated) by your job on this wreath Frank.
  23. See the thread: https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/40500-a-masked-ornament/
  24. I got the idea for this in the thread: https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/40448-steve-good-ornaments/ The ornament design is Steve Good's. I purchased several of these patterns from Steve and, today, I made a prototype. The mask is held in place with Velcro Dots. Margaret likes the prototype which means that I can go ahead and make about 20 more of these.
  25. Frank, I really like what you did to enhance Sue's basic pattern. I've kind of wondered about buying and using this pattern myself and now you have given me more information upon which to make my decision. Right now, I remain on the fence.
