    Maybe some of you can tell me what to check? As of recently, the blade in my excalibur does not hold the tension. I.e. I tighten it, it makes the appropriate pling sound, I start sawing and then it wobbles, so I loosen the plastic tension switch and now the blade make a bow/arch, even though the screws in top and bottom are still tight. then I loosen and retighten the top screw and the game starts over again. I have retightened the counter screw/bolt or whatever it is called that opposes the tightening screw in the top - to no avail. Today while cutting poplar 3/4" I broke three #7 blade and one #3. any ideas what needs to be adjusted on the saw? Love scrolling, but I am not a technician.

    Thanks for asking - yes I had tape on the pattern, too!

    Used Wenge-Wood and had terrible issues with the blades. Broke 2, was burning all the time. Used Pegas modified Geometry #5. Tried an Olson Mach #7 once for about an inch, which was even more terrible. Since the blade bent, I had issues moving the puzzle pieces as there is an unintended angle in some areas of some cuts. Still like how it turned out.

    Marge is 3/4" and a #5 Pegas Modified Geometry. Stacking at this thickness, does not work, unfortunately, as I always get blade bending and then the pieces don't fit. But I love the thickness for the puzzles. So its a Catch22, really. Thanks all for your encouraging words. It's always so rewarding to show projects here! It's a great place to be for sure!

    Your puzzle looks nice, good job! As far as photos goes you can got to https://www.flickr.comand there choose the option creative commons and then select the licence from which to choose then you should always be on the safe side!

    I used a #5 on the greyhound and a #3 on the cocker spaniel. the wood is 3/4". think I can go smaller?

    Thank you. The cocker spaniel is from her book. The greyhound is actually from the pattern gallery in our forum. But I have another question: in the German scroll saw forum I was critiqued (I am not offended, but want to get better) about problems with the cutting. In my defense I would like to say that the dogs are standing up and not laying down so that there are shadows where the pieces are not exactly flat i.e. in line with each other. I would appreciate, however, feedback from you guys, too. thanks

    if you have reverse teeth blades, there is a small gap before the start - which makes it easy to figure out the bottom. Magnifying glass to help finding it?
