  1. Today i did a craft Show in a town on the Phila.Mainline.There are more Dogs and cats than people in this town.I took about 100 pens 30 Animal puzzles and other assorted Scroll Work. Go Figure did not sell 1 puzzle. Sold a few ornaments. If it was not for a few pens I sold The day would have been a total loss. Can't figure this one out.The vender next to me was selling gourmet dog biscuits and only sold 2 bags. But was giving out samples to all of the Dogs and they ate them like crazy.
  2. I will stop using that type of vender.I always supported the small guy .I started with PSI .Still use them .But now I even more. But the fact is .It is not only this type of vender Online sellers are taking a step backwards. They should take a lesson from the Brick and Mortor Stores.I will not mention any Names Because I do not care if these type of places stay in business or not.
  3. No Styrofoam . I bet it's packed in wheat straw.
  4. By that time the Corn and Hay will be ready to cut Just Kidding Ziggy
  5. Selling has nothing to do with this .So I wish you would quit telling me to calm down.It is just the way I feel about people who should not be in a sales business It is just a cheaper way to sell slow moving items It happens more online because they do not have a face to face contact with a customer. When enough people do catch on these so called retailers start heading down the tubes
  6. Iggy that saw better be everything you hoped for.I would have canceled out as soon as they told me 30 Days even if they were building others saws .Let alone harvesting wheat.
  7. Yea I think a lot of these online stores show stock pictures just to make there website look pretty. But what it comes down to Take off the out of stock pictures. They will look pretty shabby
  8. Now it is going up my butt.I know that it does not bother a lot members here that only do Scroll Work. But because I also sell pens along with my Scroll Work.I am running into this more and more.Everything from pen refills that cost $.90 to a $60.00 Pen Kit. From 7.00 Pen Blanks to 50.00 Pen blanks. What is going on Some of these have been out of stock for months on end.I used to be Loyal to certain on line suppliers That is over with If I need 10 items and only 7 are in stock I look elsewhere for all 10 first. If you can not stock it you should not be in business.Only one company I deal with States we do not know when and if this item will be back in stock. All other post NOTIFY ME I am Done Venting Thanks for listening. My Wife won't
  9. Iggy There is no mistaken maple for poplar. Though there is a color similarity but the grain is different. If it was maple and you use 3/4" stock that Dewalt would be jumping up and down if you tried to cut at the same speed as poplar.I use all hardwoods for my cuttings. When I use 3/4 hardwood such as Oak and hard Maple I use the Hegner.I know the EX will cut it.But i don't think it would like a steady diet of 3/4.Even with the Hegner Hardwood is slow and easy.
  10. If you turn the speed control too fast, will it throw the breaker?
  11. John spray both pattern and tape. Wait until the glue dries.if you touch it and glue transfers to your finger, still not dry.I have sprayed patterns and let dry overnight Weather also effects the glue.
  12. I bet Iggy moved his scroll saw to the front of the house while still cutting Puzzles so he would not miss UPS
  13. Yep did both adjustments on my saw when I first got it If I were going to do a lot of thin work then I would adjust the cam to the shorter length. Its not like turnig a knob.So Ihae not done it since
  14. Dick good luck Now that is what I call a move
  15. That's a good move Iggy. Very interested in that saw.Give us a blow by blow on your take.
  16. iggy I would not put them in the same class as a Dewalt. But there are more things that could go wrong.Hegner ,Hawk are bullet proof. It is the learning curve that you will have to over come.Is there a return policy just in case you do not like the saw. Both my saws I bought used at a very fair price If I did not like either one back on Ebay. That is my concern. Not trying either saw But the hawk seams a lot more user freindly for someone not using this type of saw before. You are not going to go wrong with either saw
  17. I like that saw .The more I watch the you tube video the more I like it. Basically it is the same learning curve as the Hegner .But a few more tweaks that are nice . But now you are talking 1550.00.as opposed to 1800.00.They will both outlive all of us .I can not see spending that kind of money on one saw.Iggy you have a budget of 1800.00. Me I would buy either a Jet or a Seyco from a very Reputable dealer and use the rest of the money to look for a good used Hegner as a Backup saw. And you will still be cutting while looking. How many members here have good backup saws.Sell your Dewalt saws to buy more wood.Remember this is an opinion from a guy who has 2 back up lathes ( Am I nuts or what)
  18. That saw is nothing like the new Hawk .The bottom blade clamp is behind the table Tilt adjustment. The new Hawk The bottom clamp is in front.i think that will make a big difference in blade changes
  19. The more the blade angle front to back the more aggresive the cut.On the EX you can adjust the angle buy loosening the 3 bolts on the motor and spin the motor in very small increments. When cutting puzzles I found out less aggresive the better because I have a hard time with tight turns. The hegner has no adjustments. The blade is always straight You make up for it in motor RPM.The new hawk has it under the table with very easy access to the adjustment.Nice system. The new BM series look really nice. It looks like they did there homework
  20. That is a tuff call.Only because of the 1800.00 and you never touched a Hegner. Now if you were looking at a good used Hegner with all of the updates for about about 700-800 That would be a no brainer. If i needed a good saw yesterday i don't know what I would do if i could not wait for a used Hegner.Because you are used to the Dewalt type of saw i would be looking at The jet or Seyco Neither one has enough time on the road. But if you think you could survive the learning curve. That saw you are looking at is a dream and the type of work you do with 3 loaded clamps you could do a lot of cutting and never look back.A lot of people use the nickel test.On the Hegner you use the dime test.If you go for it order all of the extras with it.I have about 6 clamps 2 different sizes.
  21. Bill do you have the front tension lever. If not than the rear spring is the only thing left.I guess you know that there are different size clamps for blade thickness. That was my problem when I first got the Hegner. If the clamp you are using is to big for the blade than it will pinch instead of clamp.
  22. I always wanted to try the newest hawk. I like the idea of the blade adjustment that changes the angle of the saw blade front to back
  23. Don't ask me why .But I had the whole saw apart and put back together in 15 minutes 2 Brass bushings is all the saw runs on
  24. Iggy I don't know about buying a New Hegner Unless you can take one for a little test ride.In case you do not like it.You would have a hard time getting your money out of it.Or you might really like it.Remember buying a used Hegner is the same as buying new I bought mine used a year and a half ago it was built in 2002.The design has not changed much since they came out. Except for a few little things i found a nice one down on Ebay in Palm Coast Fl. i don't know how far that is from you .
  25. I think for your kind of work .The Hegner would be perfect I do a little of everything.Thats why I have 2 Saws
