Advance Mach. Prices are in line with every other Dist. Of Hegner parts .Those of us who own Hegner in the US are lucky compared to other countries who sell there parts.Yes Hegner does control all of there Distributors and makes sure they have any part you need.I have been dealing with Advance way before I bought my saw. They are also a Tormek dealer.
For that price you can not go wrong The variable speed motor alone is around is around 600.00.He is either talking about the table adjustment knob might be cracked or the plastic dust shut .That is the only plastic on this saw.For that price i would also look into the blade adjustment arm That is about 175.00 The stand I s about 200.00 and that is includedAll parts can be bought at Advance Mach. in De.If i was closer i would buy it in a minute
First thing i would do.If you did not do already is check that your blade is square with the table. The blade clamp mount is split at the top.so it should make up for for a slight out of alignement between the upper and lower arms. These are very simple scroll saws Unless the bushing holes were not drilled square when manufactured there is nothing else that could be out of alignement. This same saw has not changed in Decades. There are no bearings on this saw at all.Just 2 bushings upper and lower. That needs to be oiled .These are very powerful motors so arm tension is a major adjustment with these saws..I was breaking blades like crazy when I first bought my Hegner But after learning the Ping sound on different size blades I could now wear out a blade.
I took a lay off from driving about 18 months ago.I had enough with them trucks.Even though I was a carpenter by trade the trucks looked good at the time .That was a mistake.A little time after that i was diagnosed with Colin cancer that spread to the liver. That is when I decided on a hobby scrolling came first. Then decided on a lathe.I never looked back. I work in my shop every minute i could. To me it is the best therapy there is.I told the doctors the minute I can not use my hands anymore all bets are off. I take Chemo every 2 weeks. I look forward to seeing people that i have met while getting treatments. Not one of them has the Why me attitude.I am 73 YO so i lived my life. But when I see young people 1/3 my age it gets me down a little. So the Moral is Keep Cutting and TAKE ONE DAY AT A TIME.
Stoney you are on the right track. But the 13' hose is too long and with the Oneida you will not have to vent outside.I have an older Fein turbo vac with tool control and variable speed that i use with the Cyclone.I still use a filter and a paper filter bag in it.The paper bag keeps the main filter cleaner there is no loss of power at all.But the key to this is every large power tool I have is on wheels and that includes the dust collector. But i try to centralize the collector so the longest length of hose is about 6'.Now do not get me wrong. When I am turning a bowl on the lathe I still have to get out the the broom and giant dust pan.But turning pens.Router work,Surface planer and all saws are taken care of with the collector.I sand on my drill press and use a box fan with filter for that .And have a Wen Dust filter hanging from the ceiling running all the time I am in the shop.I still get residual dust all over So doing exotic woods a dust mask is used.
These https://www.amazon.com/STAR-SANDER-SHANK-Peachtree-Woodworking/dp/B000H5LXZO/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1485532627&sr=8-6&keywords=sanding+mopsI got off of Amazon work better than the 40.00 Mops.I use them for evertthing 1/4" up. Cuts my sanding time way down. But I still can't find a couple of pieces that up and flew away.
if you buy a cheaper saw without a good blade clamping system Be prepared to either use it as a backup saw or sell it to buy a saw with a good blade system. And if you decide to sell add the price of the loss from selling a used saw to the new one. From experience
I just hung a Wen up on the sealing. It is Quiet .Remote And the timer is a great thing to have it has 2 filters that come out easy But it looks like it is 2 months out.But you can not beat it for the price.
Everything I cut on my Scroll saw i planned on keeping Then my wife said keep cutting and we will be eating on the floor So she talked me into selling some of it.But I gave a lot away to friends. But never thought about selling pens. But that is where my mad money comes from. The pens really did good over the holidays. It seemed like it was a perfect gift for( hard to buy for person)One of a kind Pen with a Nice Box. Now I am doing pens for people who are treating them selfs to a gift. And collectors are buying all of the fountain pens I make.
According to our poll 2/3 of us are bottom feeders. Now I tried top feeding it will never happen for me.With my EX and Hegner when I loosen the top blade clamp the blade stays vertical. That helps me a lot. I do not see that happening with the jet because of the shape of the bottom clam when that spring holder loosens up over time .I may be wrong. But I will get over to Woodcraft to test drive one.Not that I would need another saw in the near future.I hope
Yep 1/4" Jim just make sure your saw has the lock line type.It will work just a little tough to snap together.I bought all new hose and tips for 2 saws and a lock line pliers
I have the large sanding mops .They cost me about 40.00 a piece.very seldom use them I found sanding mops on Amazon for 14.00 that I like They are called star sanders from peachtree. They are a little smaller but soften up quicker For that kind of price I bought all 3 grits
Rolf you are doing good. There is somebody on Etsie selling animal puzzles for 8.00 a piece.I enjoy the scroll saw I use nothing but hardwood But if I sold everything I made on the saw it would not pay for the lumber.I am hoping to sell some of it at the show to make room at my house
I sold 30 pens. No show and just word of mouth. These 30 Pens paid for the others I made.I have a christmas Craft show coming up and I am curious to see what sells Pens or Scroll work
