  1. These are just 2 of the 14 finished projects i had asked about painting. Not perfect by any means, but the family loved them! Merry Christmas everyone!
  2. I want to thank everyone for replying. Everyone have an awesome Merry Christmas! I will show the final edition when finished.
  3. These is my Christmas project for family. 14 of them! I’m pretty much done with all the staining, but wanted the group’s opinion on painting two items. I was thinking about painting the bow red and the smaller fireplace flame yellow or just leave them as is. I highly regard your opinions on this! Thanks, Ray
  4. a friend of mine gave me a piece of cider 22" x 18" x 2". who or how do i get it sliced down to several 1/4" or 1/2" thick pieces?
  5. thanks everyone who commented and gave advice, suggestions. coming from all of you on this site means a lot since there are so many on here that have inspired my whole endeavor into the scroll saw world several years ago. all of you are simply the best! ray
  6. Is there such a thing as segmentarsia? if, not i just invented it! This piece is actually all 1/4 inch wood but built up to look like it is a true Intarsia. I couldn't afford to buy, and in some cases even find the thicker pieces of wood needed to make a true Intarsia piece, so i improvised. the walnut is the only wood not shimmed up to give the different levels look. now ome questions i have: even after cutting all the pieces out when i tried to put them all together i ran into many that simply wouldn't fit together. i spent many a hour sanding and shaping to get them to finally fit. so what exactly did i do wrong when cutting them all out? I know this isn't exactly the forum for questions, but i didn't want to post this twice. thanks, ray
  7. finally done with this one other than still not sure of what color background. light blue, some kind of sunset, etc. any ideas?
  8. AWESOME! My favorite of all of them has to be the Dragon! is that a pattern placed over a mirror? if, so that is a very cool idea!
  9. Hi From Barbara (Loskoppie)

  10. I had left over pieces from a prior project and had the “what if?” moment....this is the end result. IMG_0375.MOV
  11. thanks everyone!!!!
  12. some stuff i have done recently. the wind chimes was my design after my old one fell apart. i kept the pipes. the tennis ball clock was something i came up with too. the flowers and gun are patterns i bought.
  13. i haven't been on this site in awhile, but i had to show off the largest project i've done to date! almost 24" x 36". i had to do it in 4 sections and then put them all together because it was that big. Very proud of this. my only regret is that i'm no artist when it comes to painting.
  14. Thanks everyone for your kind words regarding my cousin and also for the suggestions regarding the memorial cross. The wood was a 1" thick pine. i had drilled a hole in the very bottom and put a long piece of rebar in it. I guess his family hammered it all the way to the ground hence the rotting. Ray
  15. ok, gang, i have an issue i need help with. one of my cousins died back in May due to a car accident. I made a cross for him and the family (wooden) that lasted until a few days ago when it rotted at the base. I had painted it with an outside paint and treated it with an outside coating spray. I'm doing another one so i need some suggestions on how to make this one last. I.e. material, paint, etc. thanks, ray johnson fellow scroller.
