  1. Those look very nice Denny but I believe it would take me more than two hours and probably some choice words. Thanks for sharing. Always love to see what you have been up to.
  2. Glad I don't know anyone who owns one of these Scott. Does look like it would be a bit of a pain! Probably good to have at least 3 since you have had 3 inquiries previously. Thanks for sharing.

    Elephant

    Nicely done. thanks for sharing.
  4. Beautiful work on all 3. Many a little girl would love the Mermaid. I love the rose with the butterfly. thanks for sharing.
  5. More nice work Frank. i see that you are giving cats their moment too - not to be out done by those dog puzzles. Thanks for sharing.
  6. Thanks for the kind comments everyone. @wombatie Marg, the frog can be set up on either its front legs or its back legs. I forgot that when I photographed him. I plan to give him to a young friend who loves frogs. @Gordster that's a good idea to make a longer base and add a pen. Do you turn pens? Is that what gave you that idea?
  7. Congratulations on ordering your new saw. I pray for smooth sailing and breeze through customs for you.
  8. @johnnyo I ran across this book at Amazon with lots of collectable baskets in it looks like - might be worth checking it out. https://www.amazon.com/Collapsible-Basket-Patterns-Designs-Scrollsaw/dp/1565230876/ref=pd_lutyp_cxhsh_1_16?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=1565230876&pd_rd_r=63ZGF29H9WWYPD8Q31HA&pd_rd_w=8klJR&pd_rd_wg=3JOUc&psc=1&refRID=63ZGF29H9WWYPD8Q31HA Says there are over 100 designs - this may be the same book however that I think someone offered to send you on another thread so be sure its not the same before ordering. (looked for that thread but didn't find it initially to post it there. - Will look again.) Edited to add - found the other thread - looks like this is the same book that Joe offered to send to you. So, no need to get this one - however, if you want a "sneak peek" at the book until it gets to you - you can do that at the Amazon link. click on the book on the right to "see inside" - doesn't show you everything but will show you some of it.
  9. Then finally, I had also recently cut these but hadn't shared them previously. I will have to verify where I got the patterns from and edit to add that info. This is a Steve Good Pattern. It also included "Happy Valentine's Day" below the Love but I ran away from all of that small lettering plus, felt that the "Love" was more versatile and could be used for other things without the Happy VD" portion. I could see it used as part of a table center piece at a wedding for example. The heart with my favorite mice I had seen done in other way. I had the silhouette image with the mice and the small heart (easily found with a google search.) - added the simple heart outline around them and cut it out. Couldn't decide how to make a "base" for it so cut out the one you see and cut out the hole for it to set in. Still trying to figure out a better "stand" for it though. I cut it in some cedar and recently dropped it and it broke but was able to glue it back together. I think the cedar is probably not a good choice for most projects like these. I had lots of it for Intarsia so will save most of it fort that probably. The "I Love You" was shared here in the Village by Travis, @TDpainter. Thank you Travis - while I didn't do it justice I will try it again. I tried to cut it in some scrap red oak that husband had left from a project. That stuff is really hard to cut! I also tried to use it in some of the animal puzzles. Again - hard stuff so I think I will leave those scraps alone from now on at least when it comes to trying to cut it on my scroll saw!
  10. These are the ones from the "Animal Puzzles for the Scroll Saw" book by Judy and Dave Peterson. As noted, I have only cut - not finished or added any stain or sealer yet. The book can be found many places. Here it is on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Animal-Puzzles-Scroll-Saw-Second/dp/1565233913/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498497526&sr=8-1&keywords=animal+puzzles+for+the+scroll+saw . I have also purchased Jim Sweet's Woodimal's Puzzles book too but haven't cut any of those yet. https://www.amazon.com/Woodimals-Creative-Puzzles-ScrollSaw-Woodworking/dp/156523748X/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1498497526&sr=8-2&keywords=animal+puzzles+for+the+scroll+saw
  11. Edited to add: Just noticed - my one year anniversary here in joining the village was this past Saturday. Been a great year and I thank all of you for all you have shared, encouraged, and explained to me in that year. I really like coming here and my day is not complete without at least one visit it see what everyone is sharing. Yes, I joined the puzzle bandwagon a little bit ago thanks to Iggy and several others on here. Yes, they are addicting. I got the Harvey Byler puzzles via Iggy's site and had purchased the "Animal Puzzles for the Scroll Saw" book by Judy and Dave Peterson and have cut some from there as well. My thought process is that this would be a good way to practice cutting on the lines which would then help improve my intarsia pieces and their fitting together. Time will tell on that one. I haven't add any finish to the pieces yet. Just cut them out and finally got some photos to post. I will try to post in two groups. The first ones will be the puzzles with the wording from Iggy/Harvey and the second will be the ones from the Peterson's Book. I have some more I am working on but haven't gotten cut out. Most of them can actually be put together from either side so that's a bonus. Mean's I am also doing better on not "pushing". I found the wood that worked best for me was the poplar which I got from Lowes. Tried some in pine, cedar, and red oak scraps. Like Goldilocks, I found some too soft, some too hard, and the popular just right for me! Harvey Byler puzzles purchased from Iggy's Site here: https://woodcraftbyscott.com
  12. Looks great Dave and I am sure the customer was more than pleased. Thanks for sharing.
  13. Very nice work. Love when you can use a good rainy day and make it productive with great things like these. Thanks for sharing.
  14. Welcome to the village from East TN. Can't help you with the blade changing issues probably - what is the problem you are having? More details and someone may be able to help you out with that. (Edited to add: I see you started another thread regarding this problem in the General Scrolling area and have gotten lots of great advice there for that! One reason I love the Village.) Fish mentioned Steve Good possibly having some basket/bowl patterns. Here are a couple of links to his pattern catalog that will get you to about 3 that collapse. The first link gets you to 2 and the second link to a 3rd one. The third link shows anything he has that is labeled basket. The last link takes you to his blog where he makes daily posts and shares different types of scroll saw patterns. When I first got started last year, I was interested in Intarsia work - but thanks to Steve's site, and the village and the magazine and its forum, I have expanded out into other types of work. You may find yourself doing that as well. Either way - be sure to show us what you are working on/crafting. http://www.stevedgood.com/catalog/index.php and http://www.stevedgood.com/catalog/index.php and other's that don't collapse: http://www.stevedgood.com/catalog/index.php (this will give you anything that has "basket" in its name so it will be some that are not "baskets" in the sense you are looking for. This is to his blog: http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com
  15. Very nice work. I really like the pattern. Don't recall seeing it on Steve's site. Will have to see if I can locate it and add it to the "someday" pile. Thanks for sharing.

  20. First, thank you for your service. Second, great idea to stop at the planner - beautiful piece you "found". Third, excellent cutting and finish. Glad you made something for you. Well done. Thanks for sharing.

  22. Nice work. Thanks for sharing.
  23. Nice Job Marg and glad you joined the bandwagon. I have cut several but haven't put a finish on any of them yet. Still need to post some photos too.
  24. Looking good Frank. Especially since you got them cut, photographed and posted! I swear I have some cut. Its getting time to make the pics and get them posted I have been struggling with. Not sure they look as good as yours, Ralph, Paul's and Iggy's though. Good enough though so I will try to get them posted sooner or later just to prove that I will am cutting some of them!
  25. We had all that wind yesterday here in East TN - then got a lot of rain last night and this morning. Just hot this afternoon though! Cooling off for the week. Not bad for late June! Glad you didn't get blown away. How were your sales?
