Very nice. I love seeing your work. I was wondering about that one because I have a sister-in-law who has a golden doodle and figured if I started making them and giving them as gifts to family and friends, she would want that one. Think in this instance, it might be better to get it customized with the Dog's name "Cookie" - At least it would be a whole lot less letters! However, I am with Frank, I think I will pay you to do it either way! Will look much nicer for sure and I will not be in a foul mood from the stress of it. To top it off, would also have to get you to do the saxophone even though I got the pattern - you talked me out of it too with its delicate and stressful cutting! Now, while we are at it - I will also need my sister who has the Dachshund and the Chihuahua mix. Chihuahua head - Dachshund body - that would be a few letters to do as well. Maybe just doing the dog's name "Rosie" would be okay. Like the others, by you showing your work I got interested and have bought and cut some. Still need to get pictures taken to post. Figured they make great gifts and help me practice cutting on the lines - important for Intarsia work. Goldendoodles and Labradoodles are two different "blends" - one is a standard poodle mated with Golden Retriever and the other is the poodle with a Lab. Labradoodles are more the norm in many places I think but Goldendoodles are on the rise I gather. My sister-in-law has had her's for 8-10 years now I think. I have a golden retriever, and so I got the Golden and the Retriever patterns. Think I prefer that to trying to squeeze the "Golden Retriever" all into one!

Very nice work. I can see why they would be good sellers. I have noticed that one of the "hot items" in generally lately are state or location based items like these. Shirts, plaques, car stickers, etc. so good to get the market while its a hot commodity. Good to be proud of where we are from. Thanks for sharing.

Some very nice work. Sorry work is going to get in your way but looks like you put your non work time to some great use over the weekend. I have cut some of those puzzles from Harvey/Scott recently. Several more to try. Hope mine looks half as good as yours when complete. Thanks for sharing. I am sure the lucky recipients of your work will be quite happy with their gifts. I am sure the local SPCA would be thrilled with any work you can provide them as well.

Very nice - also nice that you know the Huskers have a great VB program (one of the best in the country most years) and have that covered too! Too often, VB is not covered when people create "sports" items. (Yes, I am the mother a VB player )

Dick, I know that moving can be hard no matter the distance. I also know that you are moving from where you have lived a long time to go down to where your Son's family is but I think you are also leaving some other family behind. So besides the physical toll moving takes, there is the emotional toll that you will have as well. I hope you and your wife take your time and enjoy the process as best you can. See it as a new adventure that will bring you new and exciting things. You have shown the new house and it is beautiful. As I recall, you will have a new great space for your shop there too. Don't wait too long to get that setup and going and take a few minutes when you need to just check in here. The Village will be here waiting to hear all about your moving adventures and see your new shop up and running.

Glad you will get to keep it around for a bit while she continues to live at home while completing college. Not sure I would let it go when she did choose to leave! Maybe tell her its hers someday! Well, I've been "studying" up on your posts in regard to the puzzles since I've been trying some out. You all make it look much easier then they are however! I had a book with just animals not the words I had worked on some from. I had some trouble cutting those so I was a little afraid of the "words" ones I got from you. However, I finally got brave and gave one ago. I just finished the "Bulldog" I got from you. First, I like the puzzles and know lots of family members who have different dogs so I can give them as gifts. Second, I figure cutting the puzzles is a great way for me to work on cutting on the lines - something highly important in the intarsia work that brought me to the scroll saw last year. I will try to get some pictures up sooner or later of mine BUT I''m no expert for sure! I went looking today to see what wood you used because I had tried other woods and wasn't happy. The bulldog I did today I used some popular to cut it and was much happier with it. I had also tried with different blades - some Flying Dutchmen, and some others. I had more trouble with those then I had today when I cut using the Oh Line Gold blades I had gotten from Judy Gale Roberts for my Intarsia work. Somewhere I think I had read the FD were aggressive - from my experiences - I think they were for me at least. I also still have a tendency to "push" sometimes - not good on puzzles like these if you want someone to actually be able to put them together and have them go together from either side. Did better on the one I did today - think some of it was me trying to make sure to not push and I think the popular was easier for me to cut without pushing. Thanks for all you and others have shared on making the puzzles.

The first post outlines his process, later in the thread - there is an updated discussion on dipping the puzzles to finish rather than wiping it on. Great Info. for those interested.
