  1. There can be nothing more devastating than losing a child or any loved one. I don't have words to tell you. I understand severe depression as my wife has had it since before we were married nearly 56 years ago. When around others she is very charismatic and lightens the room. However, she rarely wants to see anyone so she shuts everyone out. It is so very difficult to watch. I can almost feel your sorrow. God bless you, your wife and the rest of your family.
  2. Glad to hear it went well!
  3. It's a real knock out! Terrific work. Keep them coming.
  4. What a cool piece. You are a very talented man!
  5. Looks great! One could swear it was intarsia. Beautifully done.
  6. Great looking sign!
  7. Cool dog. Puzzle looks good too.
  8. I think mt dust collection on my 18" Hegner is solved. The Hegner system did not make sense so this is what I did. I took off the collector part off, drilled a new 1/4" hole in the bracket, drilled another hole in the frame below the blade clamp. I remounted the bracket in a vertical position. It is much more efficient. Off to the side it did draw sawdust but now grabs small chips too. Much better. Also there was a discussion here of noise from vacuums. I checked my Filter Queen which has a 65 decibel noise level which is similar to a conversation level. At least that what the audio meter says.
  9. Never thought about bowls and vases. The tilting head makes sense.
  10. That's just Fein (pun intended) if you have one. I thought you had a Duststopper. Was it not you that told me about the Duststopper?
  11. Thanks. Gonna give it a shot.
  12. If you have the room get a real dust collector.
  13. Gorgeous work. I had a '55 Ford and loved it.
  14. Are you saying that you use the vacuum directly to gather the dust without an intermediate collection between the vacuum and saw? I have wondered about doing that but would think the vacuum filter would be plugged very quickly and reduce the vacuum and need to change or clean the filter quickly.
  15. I had a Dust Deputy and gave it away new and unused. It is too tall and tippy and also needs a full size vacuum. Took too much room. A rather clumsy system. The $49 Home Depot Dust Stopper does the same thing and is compact. It works good. It is just that the Hegner collector is somewhat awkward. I'm gonna redo it. It's an $80 joke.
  16. I just googled ash vacuums. Not satisfactory. I have a couple of Oreck hand held vacuums. Rolf has a very nice collector. Simple to make and the Oreck is not that loud. Sycamore67 also has a very nice system on his Hegner. His collector orifice is directly below the blade which is more effective than the Hegner system which is off to the side.
  17. I wonder what the little vacuum is. It sure would take up less room and be easier to move around. The Filter Queen vacuum I use runs constantly and only gets warm. The Hegner DC sort of works it is not worth the $80 or so I paid. I works on a kind of ridiculous premise. I'll rework it when I get upset enough. Some have spoken sometime ago about what some called fireplace ash vacuums. I'll have to google them and see exactly what they are about. I like the tiny footprint of the Seyco system which would allow it to possibly be hung under the saw stand. Also it would not take much to make a separator for a quart jar. I'm just brainstorming. I do everything to maximize space in my little shop. I'll stop rambling for now.
  18. I see the Seyco dust collector on the web site. I am wondering if that includes a vacuum. The photo shows what might be a canister vacuum on the underside at the stand. Photo is not clear. I cannot call to find out as I cannot hear on the phone. Don't plan on buying one but am curious. I'm assuming there are owners of that unit here.
  19. You are certainly making some great looking pieces.
  20. WOW! Wish I lived close by.
  21. Love tractors. You can get the boy off the farm but you can't get the farm out of the boy. Nice pattern and cutting.
  22. I don't even know how to make a box let alone the marvelous inlay. You are genius at work!
  23. Great work Kevin. I love what you do. You are so creative. Your work really sparkles!
  24. Thank you for your input Dick. Where and which video did you start with. Perhaps I should not be so lazy, get off my duff and give it a shot. Everyone who sees those name plaques is stunned. How did you do that? Can you make me one? It would be easy to take orders and sell them but there are so many other things I want to cut. My business days were over 20 years ago. Now in my dodage I like to just sit, drool and cut. I really do miss music! :>)
