  1. Great looking plaque.
  2. I guess smoothing is the wrong word. Slick is more appropriate. I wax the table with Johnson paste wax, first applying the paste with a small cloth, giving a bit of time to dry and then polish with a shop cloth. It did not seem slick enough. I had a aerosol can of Amway Wonder Mist Silicone. I've had the can for over 50 years sitting on a shelf. I sprayed the table a couple of times and it made quite a difference. I don't know if it is yet available but I am sure there are similar products in hardware or box stores.
  3. If there is a wobble to the blade it would seem to me you have a tension problem. Like not enough enough tension.
  4. Typical good cutting from you Lew!
  5. It is no wonder your work is on display. The university is fortunate to have you show it.
  6. Pretty cool. I'm sure you cousin will be delighted!
  7. As always Kevin, that looks great. I like it!
  8. Your cutting is impressive. Very nice pattern.
  9. Hi Robert! Welcome to the Village. You will like this place like Cheers, "Where everyone remembers your name." If this does not make sense to you it just means you are very welcome here.
  10. Welcome from Colorado Aris. You will find a home here.
  11. Wile Coyote, love him! The word art #1 applies to me.
  12. You nailed it Dick. You nailed it.
  13. HaHa! I could never be that cruel.
  14. I remember making soap from lie. Perhaps that soap would corrode.
  15. I would like to also pass along what Ray said. All you veterans have made possible what we citizens enjoy today. I am saddened that there are those who are determined to piss it all away. God help us!
  16. Hi Dick. Your photo did not come through. I remember Nick Nolte well especially the photo of him when he was arrested on a DUI. I hope that is not the pattern you created.
  17. Thanks Ike. That is interesting as there is a Paxton Lumber in Denver about 20 minutes from me. I assumed they only sold to contractors. I will check them out. Thanks again.
  18. Thank yo for all the replies and suggestions. I do like cutting at higher speeds as I allow the blade to do the cutting at it's own pace without trying to push excessively. Since most of my cutting is with pine I do like skip tooth blades. I just wanted to try the Pegas blades.
  19. Is it possible to have the scroll saw running so fast that the blade does not have time to discharge sawdust? I was cutting 3/4" plain old pine with a #5 Pegas blade. It seemed like the blade would stop cutting just momentarily and then start cutting again. My Hawk was running about 2/3 rds up on the pot. Don't know what that translates to but seemed pretty fast. Did not occur to me at the time to slow it down to see if it made a difference. Hope this isn't a stupid question.
  20. Very impressive. You are one prolific scroller.
  21. Looks great. Where do you find reclaimed flooring?
  22. Very nice. I don't cut difficult things.
  23. I am always impressed with your display. Lots of work goes into setting up. On a two day out door venue do you tear everything down for the night or is there security covering the venue? I suppose during the night there is always the danger of high winds and rain which could destroy much of what you have.
  24. Hi Brad. I used it because I had a piece that fit. I was too lazy to go to Lowe's for poplar or pine. I can't afford buying hardwoods. I could go to Woodcraft and get wood but I don't cut anything that requires fine woods. I just cut for my own amusement. I'll never use MDF again,
  25. I just dip and stand on edge on newspaper. No muss, no fuss.
