  1. I hate finishing and sanding but, I was interested in your exacto knives. When I was just a young fellow I saw a little wooden case with those same knives in a store window. How I wanted that knife set. When I was a kid $5 was a princely amount. Sometime later my father and I walked by the store and low and behold my father turned into the store and bought it for me. I was ecstatic! One day my mom and dad were gone for whatever reason and I was home alone. My dad had a razor strop hanging in the kitchen pantry to be used for disciplinary purposes. I wanted to try out my new knives. Ah, the razor strop, that should work. I sat at the kitchen table and started whittling. I only wanted to just make a few slices but the little knives cut so well I could not stop. Ultimately I had nothing but a pile of tiny little leather chips. Oh my gosh, what to do? I wrapped them up in newspaper and burred them in bottom of our trash barrel. Some time later my dad went looking for the strop and could not find it. Good thing for me. He asked mom where it was and she had no idea. Long after I was an adult I told my folks the story of the missing strop. We all got a good laugh.
  2. That's a really good feature!
  3. Mighty scary!
  4. Looks good!
  5. Very nice logo and kitchen. My wife wants a white kitchen. At our age it can't happen.
  6. Looks cool but what is so good about it? Is it quiet, expensive? I"m curious about that and the Fein. Both are talked about but I'd kinda like a comparison. Thanks and congratulations on a nice new tool!
  7. Now that we have become a totally Marxist nation this now the norm!
  8. I havn't watched the video yet but wll this evening. Banggood. Yes, when I was doing machining I purchased quite a few things from them. Not woodworking but things like taps and dies, collets, jigs and other things. I was always very pleased.
  9. I really like it. Good job!
  10. That's some fine cutting. Now you're hooked and love it!
  11. I didn't mind the $36 at all. I've squandered much more over the years. Precision in metal is a lot easier for me than with wood. But of course my woodworking equipment is not nearly the top of the line. When I started making frames I made a sled. It ended up being accurate which surprised me. Then there was the assembly. I have metal corner clamps which are cumbersome and not totally accurate. I have HF strap clamps which I modified and also a strap clamp made specifically for frames. I glue up the corners and by the time I get everything aligned the glue has begun to dry too much. Others use these but they don't work for me. These silly little clamps make everything go together so quickly and hold very well. They leave tiny indents on the corners which do not bother me as they can be filled with wood filler, sawdust and glue or after the frame is painted they are not really noticeable. I don't recommend these for REAL craftsmen but for this old wood butcher they make my life easy.
  12. You done good! I like the work you did.
  13. My mother insisted my wife and I have a headstone because she insisted that we cannot be cremated. So she had one put in place. Since we had purchased cremation plans years ago a posthole digger should suffice. That's my wife at the stone. She thinks it's morbid. I think it's cool.
  14. That looks wonderful.
  15. Outstanding work presented beautifully!
  16. Looks good!
  17. Very nice. Everyone's granddaughter would love it.
  18. That is superb. You cut that very well.
  19. That is super nice work. I'm not surprised. All your work is fantastic!
  20. Sounds great. I find a heat gun comes in handy for numerous things.
  21. There has been discussion on various methods of clamping picture frame corners. Lots of methods but I had not seen this before. I watched a guy on You Tube using spring clamps on the corners. He was selling them. He was squeezing the clamps by hand which I would not be able to do. Anyway the technique appeared to work. I checked Amazon and found these. I think about $36 with free prime shipping. I mitered a couple pieces of scrap to try them. They appear to work quite well. Of course I used particle board and the points dig in somewhat. A little wood filler fixes that.
  22. Welcome to the Village Tim. Glad to have you here. Lots of friendly people here for you to meet. Got questions? Just ask.
  23. I have several patterns I need copied in red. I'll go to my,Office Depot and check in the next couple of days. I'll report back. I have 2 very close to me. One does not do it because, I believe, they don't know their equipment. Poor training.
  24. My ashes will go into a couple of Ball or Mason jars then buried with a post hole digger.
