  1. BTW had to wire lights in parallel. They get dimmer the more I added in series. Checked lights after every solder so I didn't have a "cold" solder.
  2. Thanks Scrappile, Not sure which lights. Bought 200 for $15.00 so I'll keep pecking away. I have 3 or 4 more patterns to work on and several battery holders. Got to use them up first. I should get pretty good soldering by then. I enjoy the cutting more.
  3. Started my Christmas gifts early. I've down loaded several Schwiboggen plans and I thought I start with this one. 1/8" bb x 2 sides. Cutting wasn't too bad. Used 2.5" x 3/4" wide pine for base and 1/8 wide table saw blades for the slots. My artistic wife painted the outside. Found AA battery holder with switch on internet. Only place to find " grain-of-wheat" 3vdc lights at Amazon (200 in a pack) From China..... Initially bought 20awg wire but too stiff. Finally pulled apart a Ethernet cable 24AWG??? for leads. Lots of stripping and soldering. Hot Glue Gun'd wires in place. Used 16 bulbs. Battery tends to run down fast. May have to go to AA batteries or C instead. First attempt. Still learning/experimenting!
  4. Very Nice!!!
  5. Iggy, Kind of like the front desk gives you a room next to the elevator and ice machine and then you realize your are on the highway side of the hotel.
  6. Amazing detail! I know the chips were flying!
  7. Great work as always. Back in the day when I was selling, we always asked for 50% up front to cover cost of material. That meant they had skin in the game and were a serious buyer. BTW, were you affected by hurricane Irma?
  8. C'est Magnifique!! Very talented work!
  9. Where the heck have you been? You burst out like a 4th of July fire work! Great work!
  10. Thanks all for the good comments. I used 1/8" bb and the grill work was scary. I had to add some more bridges. Used 1/8" for backing. Stained with Ebony stain instead of paint. Afraid that contact cement would not hold well on paint. Blue Taped all the larger cut out pieces back in place so it wouldn't flop around.
  11. Welcome Jack. Great place for scrolling info. Used to live south of you in Wappingers Falls but didn't start scrolling until I moved to SC. Maybe you can get inspired by some of those old planes at the Aerodrome!
  12. Been off the radar for a few weeks. Had a family visit from Germany for a month. Lots of traveling and sightseeing. The saw was calling me. My brother in law used to drive a Peterbuilt in Germany and found a plan in the pattern library and started cutting. He's taking it back with him this week to hang in his office.
  13. Lots of videos on YouTube.
  14. Bought one from Harbor Freight. A little over $40. Not top of the line but works OK. https://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?dir=asc&order=EAScore%2Cf%2CEAFeatured+Weight%2Cf%2CSale+Rank%2Cf&q=metal+dector
  15. No Mulligan here! Pass Birdie and go direct to an ACE!. Nice job!
  16. Really nice job!
  17. Going to see my nephew on the Carolina coast in a few weeks. He is big into deep sea fishing and thought he would like this. Got the plan from Scroller and added the name of his boat. Cut from 1/8" BB. Very floppy once all the pieces are taken out. Sanded the back before I did that. Backed it up with 1/4" PW and stained with ebony. Didn't want to paint because the contact cement may not hold. Hope he likes it.
  18. My wife is just nuts for hummingbirds and we have several feeders around the house. She even has a hand held feeder that they have come and fed from. She saw a pattern on scrollsawartist.com she wanted me to cut. I cut. Not too complicated. She added her painters touch to the final work. It makes it POP!
  19. I had originally posted this in the pattern request area and Don R. was gracious enough to make this wonderful pattern. I made this for a friends birthday and he said he just got it and loves it. He has flown over 14,000 hours in all sorts of aircraft including Gulfstreams. His favorite aircraft is still the Howard 500. A little back story. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard_500. It was a fun project to cut but some of the fine lines were a little scary.
  20. Thanks all for your kind thoughts.
  21. Our mail lady has been having a rough time lately. A large (heavy) package fell on her arm at the pickup office and has fractured her arm. She has been out of work several weeks and finally got back to work today on light duty. Jerry1939 inspired this project. My wife found a similar pattern on scrollsawartist.com. I just had to add her name to the front of the truck. (screwed up the first since I only had one K in Nikki) Even though other have been covering her route she stopped by this afternoon to see how we were doing. We gave her the plaque and she was over whelmed. She did not expect it and hugs were given all around. She still has a brace on her arm. She said she wanted to take it home and also show all the folks at work. It's amazing how such small gift can make people so happy. Thanks to my wife also for her wonderful paint work.
  22. Jerry, this is amazing work. What type of wood did you use? I have seen similar elements in an 8 sided wren box.
  23. I Know diddely on the saw. It looks like a monster but I have the same magnifier lite and I love it. Looks like it may have been modified to mount to the unit. Mine still has the articulating arm attached.
  24. There are a huge amount of these patterns on Pinterest.
