  1. Pattern is In library from bigdogskitten11 lol. I don't like painting background board black on these type of projects. Iv been putting walnut veneer on luan and oiling it. I'm not sure it's worth the effort tho when u don't see much of it. I'm experimenting with a technique to try veneer front of basswood boards. I'm thinking of using the dato blade to take just the thickness of veneer off up to the bark area. Will be tricky and again not sure if worth effort.well sorry about the long post.
  2. I think u have to replace the board . The only other solutions would be to veneer it . probably have to veneer all of them. Or maybe if ur artistic you try to paint or stain a faux grain on it well enough to get it to blend since you will be cutting away a good portion of it.
  3. They are really nice. Nice work!
  4. Dan thank you. it's aspen with 2 coats whitewash Thank you meflick. I did mean to post where the pattern was from I guess I forgot when posting.
  5. The best skill to have as a woodworker is the ability to be able to fix mistakes. Unfortunately " one who masters the ability to fix mistake first must make many mistake." lol.

  12. You just can't use them blades from big box. Try flying Dutch man blades it's whole different animal. Not even comparable experience. There is another quality brand also but for some crazy reason I can't think of it I know it like back of my hand and I can't come up with the name. Lol.

  15. I haven't been in shop much last few weeks but I plan on some various intarsia projects this upcoming year to build up my intarsia skills.I am looking at the great horned owl. I'm not quite ready yet. I definitely have to finish up my maloof rocker this year. And oh yeah fix and clean up that shelf that collapsed from piling so much wood on it.

  20. Nice job . you should make one for the guy on the canvas too. Canvas back. Lol.
  21. I use contact brand shelf liner and blue tape at times. I actually rather blue tape method (sticks better) but when cutting intarsia trying to be as accurate as possible the blue tape seems to pull up in the kerf and hide the blade a litte. Not too bad but enough to cause me to loose sight of the blade at times. That's me anyway. My favorite method is spray back of pattern and stick directly to wood but then you run into the glue residual as mentioned above. I guess nothing is perfect. I'm going to try duck brand shelf paper tho. Thanks.
  22. Very nice job. Excellent!
  23. Beautiful job!
  24. I almost did buy marine plywood. I wondered around looking for it to see how much more would cost then just lost interest. Yeah we know who db Cooper is.
